Nichole laughs and smiles at Adam. “Yeah, maybe I need to switch things up a bit,” she agrees, looking at the menu, occasionally glancing back up at Adam. Despite everything, she found him kind of charming.

“Oh, you don’t drink?” she asks, looking up from the wine list. “Are you a, ya know, alcoholic?” Nichole had done her fair share of stays in rehab facilities, and had been told on a number of occasions that she had a drinking problem, but it was one that she felt she had under control. Until she had too much, of course. “Would hate to be the cause of a relapse.”

“Yeah? Well, us gross girls are fun too, maybe you should broaden your horizons. I’ve never seen you with a girl who looks like me,” Nichole counters, grinning.

She cocks her head to the side as she listens to him, appreciating his honesty about how drinking affects him. “Okay, yeah, heard,” she says back softly. “Well… how about I get a bottle of wine, and if you want some, you can have some. And if not, I’ll just drink the whole thing myself.” She winks, but she was absolutely not kidding.

“How long were you married? Do I know her?” Nichole asks, waving the waiter over and ordering a bottle of wine to start for the two of them. She might as well get to know Adam, since they’re already here together.

“I think I can handle either one,” she decides when Adam says he’ll either get mad or horny if he drinks. Either one could be fun. She loved getting people riled up, one way or another. “When I drink, I either get really fun or really sad. So just be on the look out. If I start talking about how under-appreciated Elliot Smith was in his last years, we’ve entered the sad phase.”

Nichole had more questions about Adam’s marriage, but she could tell he wasn’t in the right mood to speak on it. She kept her mouth shut. “I used to be married too,” she offered. “Whole thing blew up. Now he lives in Canada with our kids.”

She laughs a little when Adam says he’ll keep her from being sad. It would be a hard job for him, to say that she was an emotional person was an understatement. “Thank you, I am putting my emotional well-being in your hands,” she jokes as she waiter brings over the wine she ordered. “Ooh, and in this as well.” She pours herself a glass of wine and looks at Adam tentatively, wordlessly asking if he wanted her to pour him some as well.

“Ah! I had triplets. Two girls and a boy. Runs in my family, multiple births,” Nichole says back with a little smile on her face. She missed her kids a lot. “Oh yeah, I’m one of the chairmen of the Divorced Club. I probably won’t ever get married again. I can’t stand the commitment.”

She pours him a glass of wine with a smirk, and then raises her glass to him. “To the consequences,” she says as a cheers.

“You’re an anomaly then,” Nichole says with a grin. “You have some crazy fertile sperm or something.” She watches him empty his glass with some admiration on her face, and then refills his glass. “People always say that wine is for sipping, but I appreciate a person who can just absolutely down a glass,” she says, taking a sip out of her own.

“Oh wow, they’re still pretty young. Mine are 11,” she says back, and then pauses for a moment, shocked at how old her children are now that she’s said it out loud. “Wow, that makes me feel old.”

“Hm, I’m starting to understand the nature of your drinking,” Nichole says with a laugh. She wasn’t going to let this man out-drink her, though, so she guzzles her own glass and then refills it, instantly feeling the warmness of being drunk as the wine mixes with the drinks she had already had at the party.

“You are older than me, and you’re old as fuck,” Nichole says back point blank, giving Adam a joking little smile. She laughs when Adam calls her a pretty little thing, and raises her glass to him again, giving a little nod. “We might as well just skip dinner and see where the wine takes us.”

“That’s very good to know, it would be a pretty big turnoff if you needed to pop a pill with me,” Nichole giggles as well, drinking another glass of wine and refilling it. They had emptied almost half the bottle already. It was going to be a fun night.

Nichole raises her eyebrows and grins. “Interesting, I’m glad to see Option Horny has been the outcome. Would have hated to get into another public fight with you.” She raises her glass to her lips and looks over the rim at Adam. “I’m definitely not sad. Looks like you’re getting the fun Nichole.”
