No, Steph. The chorus is saying the same thing that 4 Minutes does, just in different words. "If you want it, you already got it" and "You can have it all anything you want in the world" are basically the same thing. You just can't admit that Shakira isn't perfect.

Of course Shakira isn't perfect. Don't see what her being perfect has to do with this.

The songs have two completely irrelevant meanings and the same thing with the speakers, its just an object with a minor concept that is similar. Just like the She Wolf and Monster song just a lyric that has a minor concept that is similar that's all. Just because of it you cannot claim is a rip-off.

Anyway "Give It Up To Me" is so much better than "4 minutes" by a whole lot, maybe Shakira had to step in and teach Madonna a few lessons. Anyway the last person someone wants to copy is Madonna ( the worst attention whore in the biz).

I'm going to be the bigger person and ignore you.

Yep. Whatever you want to believe Steph. Although, I really wouldn't throw around the term 'attention whore' if I were you. You were the one that couldn't stop throwing fits, and then decided to pretend to be a woman for 6 months. You're also the most banned member in my memory. You've got to have at least 5 accounts that you used to spam the forums when you were banned. Do you really wanna throw around 'attention whore'?

Something Madonna wouldn't be able to do, Sing She wolf Live and look good at the same time.

To be fair girls and boys, getting angry over similarity in pop lyrics... It's kind of like complaining that you got a mouthful of shit while crawling through sewage.

Pop songs are about maybe three things:

1) "I am a confident single woman, and I don't need no man. Instead I'll just have sex with loads of men."
2) "I'm not a confident single woman, and I need a man who will protect me and give me sex in my preferred style."
3) "I like having sex, more sex please."

Agreed, you just forgot about crime, rape, murder, abuse, suicide, dancing, and talking about electricity. Its just that Madonna whores in an unpleasant form. The old raisin needs to retire.

He was exaggerating for effect. He merely meant that those are probably the 3 most covered subjects in pop lyrics.

As opposed to death metal where I'd guess the 3 most covered subjects are murder, satan & necrophilia...

I need to step into the Pop scene and change all that, it is getting a tad boring, but I still love it.

Dancing and electricity that's just sex, as for crime, rape, murder, abuse and suicide, I don't know what pop you're listening to... Off the top of my head, there's probably only three or four songs in my collection that are specifically about suicide, and probably all the ones about rape are by Swans...

Is this pop?

There are many songs! Janet Jackson sings about rape, Mary J. Blige has sung about runaways, Rihanna about abuse or killing, Britney Spears has referred a song to suicide and many other songs I can't think of at the moment.

I'm guessing these were album cuts and not charting singles.

Yeah, that Swans song, not pop.

And wait, you only have 3 or 4 songs about suicide? Man, where the hell have you gone wrong?

Nope, I have only like 5 that focus mainly on suicide but many others that reference it. A lot of what I listen to varies. Like I said I have a very broad taste in music, and I slowly reveal my guilty pleasures.

Yeah, and one of the ones I'm including is Mr. Bungle's Merry Go Bye Bye (also, Pink Cigarette).

In fact, let me run down a list quickly and see what I can come up with.

Songs about or at least losing relating to Suicide

Mr. Bungle - Merry Go Bye Bye
Mr. Bungle - Pink Cigarette
Rush - 2112
Rush - The Pass
Vic Chessnut - Flirted With You All My Life
Flaming Lips - Thirty-Five Thousand Feet of Despair
The Mars Volta - Concertina
The Mars Volta - Televators (that whole record in a broad sense, but that song specifically)
Primus - Coattails of a Dead Man
Primus - Bob
Tom Waits - Goodnight Irene (a cover of that classic standard with the great line "Sometimes I take a great notion, to jump in the river and drown")

So I guess, maybe 11 songs at a push.

This is why Shakira is a true professional, the sound on her mic was way to low because of the sound engineer, and she still kept on with her performance, somebody's getting fired! She still looked and did great

crime=sex, murder=sex, abuse=sex, suicide=after sex, dancing=sex, electricity=sex on a telephone pole. What cannot be used in reference to sex?
