Gettig back on topic, some other lyrics I wrote...

Taken Away:

How was I supposed to know that the lies would carry on
forever?
And how was I supposed to take myself away?
We were just a pair of naïve lovers
Trying to live for the moment
In time
But how was I supposed to know that you would

Take Away
Crush it up and make it
Fall Away
From everything we helped create

I went insane from everything you
Took away
I led myself to kill you
And I
Showed up at your funeral with flowers in my hands
Would it be
Rude to say that I
Kept the knife I used to break your soul?

Your grave has too many good comments
To Say
And my pain has become my signature
Forever

I spit these words of the tip of my tongue
I hope you see that I hate what you’ve become
And I hope you know that I can’t get you back
And I hope you see that I don’t even care
I Hate Your Life!
You Died In My Mind!

I went insane from everything you
Took away
I led myself to kill you
And I
Showed up at your funeral with flowers in my hands
Would it be
Rude to say that I
Kept the knife I used to break your soul?

Now that's what I call some good lyrics Good job Miles :)

Too much leather chair is unsightly and greatly increases your risk of leather-smell.

Well, we'll just have to see. I personally don't think I'm too good of a lyrisist, but I can make due.

Ahah, wait until he posts some of his songs, you'll see what I mean.

Hah, he won't beat my one about the Millipede.

Well - you've definitely beat him on originality :P

And the best thing is, its actually part of a series...

And because nobody asked, here's the others:

Thousand-Foot Millipede I
(13/05/06)

Your segments one hundredfold
Each one holding a two pair of limbs
Bar the head end housing
Tömösváry organs round antennae
Thousand-foot, thousand-foot

March in waves by crawling claws
Odourous myriapod
Specific diplopod
Thousand-foot, thousand-foot

Thousand-Foot Millipede III
(29/10/06)

Hail thousand-foot in hushed tapping tones
Hail thousand-foot in overlapped movements
Hail thousand-foot in scuttling ever on
Thousand-foot
I treat the well
Thousand-foot
My mighty odorous ancient one

Thousand-foot!

Oh, and get this, a fuckin' spinoff!

Hundred-Foot Centipede I
(Paul Ferguson 23/10/06)

Though lesser by design
Thou art every bit as mighty
As thy cousin
Hundred-foot
Hundred-foot
Segmented antennae
Venom hooks ahoy

In unlit crevices by the dozen
Not as lumbering yet as humbling
As thy cousin
Hundred-foot
Hundred-foot
I bow my head
Oh sinister crawling one

You can't really get writers credit for something like that, but yeah, it's pretty original other than the three "YEAH"s and the "I Love You".

You might as well write a song like:

Lalala.
Someone decided to violate my bowl of cereal
lalala
My monkey decided to go for a swim in the dead sea
lalala
Windows have hearts
lalala
LEELEEHAAHAAYEEYEEDAADAA!!!

What you did was just randomly hit keys.

I wrote a series of stupid songs that contain scientific descriptions of millipedes, mixed with a slightly disturbing deification of the animal. I don't think they're the best thing ever, but I do think they're a step above random frustrated keypresses.

It's funny to me because it's a pun about a millipede being a thousand-foot in length - the name millipede of course being Latin for thousand-foot. Also, amusing to hold as divine such a creature, a myriapod that feasts on decaying matter, as opposed to a great white stallion, or a majestic eagle.

It's writing about small things really. Love is a big thing, easy to be too sentimental or vulnerable, or just sound like every other cheesy love song in the world. A song that's a creepy appraisal of a millipede, how can you go wrong with that?
