It is SUPPOSE to be like that. And if it isn't like that then fine, there is something called free will and people who chose to abuse it, will be punished. Why is there "Free Will" in the first place because that's how life on Earth works. I do notice when something bad comes to pass, we gladly hand that over to God when it was the human who made the decision. God's ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:9)" “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts". When a person is suffering with a sickness, disease, or injury, they usually only focus on their own suffering. Since once again there is free will God has to allow it. But what God will bring good out of the situation? Don't you notice when people get really sick, as in hospital sick they always rely or go to God for help. That's why I say I rather not go through the "Tough Love" route. We live in a world were there will always be sickness, disease, and death will always be there. Sickness comes from mother nature not from God. Why does God allow AIDS? Not that he created but because it will contradict "Free Will".

But God created nature. Therefore HE created sickness.

No he did not. Nature did. God created sickness but not AIDS.
An example is, You can't say My mother created my child, just because she created me. Literally she did't, I did. I can't blame my mother because I had a child, she had nothing to do with it, I did.
The same goes for that. And all of this goes back to him allowing it because like I said When a person is suffering with a sickness, disease, or injury, they usually only focus on their own suffering. Since there is free will God has to allow it.

I'm sorry, but that just sounded retarded steph.

Religion like christianity makes you lose site of reality and makes you completely believe in a fairytale. It's complete rubbish, all of it. They are all pointless morals, and nothing more.

Firstly, I'd like to know what your "nature" is in this instance, because sickness generally comes from a bacteria or virus, and these are living organisms therefore directly created by God. Secondly, if God did not directly create you, then he is not your creator. He is Adam's creator, Eve's creator, but not your creator. Thirdly, what does free will have to do with suffering? Are you saying people only suffer because they choose to? That people in unbearable agony have a choice to not think about their overwhelming and immediate pain? Fourthly, if God is omnipotent and omnipresent, then he is watching everyone suffer and choosing not to get involved, yet in the Bible, he chooses to get involved in many people's lives, and is apparently so upset by homosexuality that he literally commits genocide, while today, and for almost 2,000 years he has not intervened once to stop wanton cruelty and malice, often perpetrated in his very name. So that means God, in the Old Testament, got involved repeatedly DESPITE man's free will, yet after the New Testament, he says decides now we really do have free will, and he'll just sit back and watch all the murder, rape, suffering, torture, while sobbing and playing a violin? So we must ourselves, choose to dedicate our short lives on Earth to worshipping him, and then be rewarded with heaven? What kind of God creates a world for people to suffer in and on the basis of this decide their soul's eternal fate? A God that loves us all, apparently.

Steph, I could understand if you think a god exists, I believe to an extent that perhaps something or someone made us, just not what christians believe. But if you believe god loves us, then some tough love. And why if it is tough love?

Who said you don;t have the right to I'm just talking about what I believe and what the bible says. I

It is tough love because our definition of love which comes from our heart not the dictionary is much different than his.

first of all, then it's not love which ever side you think is wrong, and secondly, what's the purpose then? why do you think we exist? What's point in god's "love" for us?

I'm still stuck on the free will thing, I mean the Judeo-Christian God is omniscient (all knowing) so he would already know exactly how our life turns out. Every detail of every "choice" we make and then the ultimate end, whether we go to heaven or not. That sounds more like fate or destiny, a predetermined path that we cannot alter, instead of free will. The only argument I have ever heard that tried to make sense of this is that God doesn't know what choice you will make, but he knows every outcome of all the possible choices you can make. That would undermine God's power, he would not be omniscient. He would just be really good at risk analysis and should probably get a job with an HMO. So how can you actually have free will if God has known every "choice" you would make forever? You really can't, there is an illusion of free will, an illusion that exists because God tells you that you can make choices for yourself, but all the while he sits up on his white throne laughing because no matter what you tell yourself and how much you try to avoid it you are still going to rent "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" starring Matthew McConaughey.

I don't quite get what you are saying here

The purpose, well like I have stated before God only wants you to know certain things, only him(the almighty) knows. The point of his love is because he's good, he's not evil like Satan, he wants you to go to heaven. And if he didn't have love obviously he wouldn't care.

Steph, you're fucking delusional.

And why didn't you respond to one of the most well written responses here? Why did you just ignore what Gildy said? Because you know that you're belief system is flawed?

Firs of all, why are you claiming that I ignored his post. I haven't read it yet and I plan to now. Obviously its going to take a while since I'm the only one here who is a Christian, and support the fact that God Loves you. You can't expect me to answer each post so quick.

And BTW You aren't showing any reason in your post, all you're showing is anger.

See, now I believe in a philosophical school of thought called determinism, which suggests that the future is directly predictable based on the past, that if you were capable of understanding all the mechanisms involved, the Universe would unfold in a predictable manner. For some this precludes free will, but for me free will is exactly that, an illusion, since we are not actually aware of the processes of the brain, how it actually functions, except that it functions physically. Therefore it is subject to all the laws of physics and as such, on some level beyond our perceptions, when we make a choice, the choice was made long before we ever actually made it. Even something as simple as a preferential food, you're about to order a sandwich you buy every day, and then at the last second you change your mind, and you buy a different one - even before that last change, you were debating in your head whether to get something else, and eventually, you got to the front of the queue at the moment that you were currently thinking that and therefore your mind was changed. So in essence we have free will insomuch as we can perceive, but on a physical level, the future is the direct sum of the past.

Except quantum physics fucks that all right up.

You're just trying to throw me off. Post like this are the reason I haven't even gotten to read it yet. I am not gay I am confused and God will help me out. God Loves me and every single one of you. To be honest Troy, it's fair enough that he hasn't been able to reply uber quickly to all of them, seeing as he is kinda on his own in this.

But still, I think your a total hypocrite Steph. You can't bend the rules to fit your world - which is exactly why I think the Bible and Christianity is a bunch of toss. So many people argue and get confused over its meaning. It should be 100% fact and leave no room for interpretation, or 0% fact and entirely metophorical. The meeting in the middle it does just leads to hostilities when your all wrong anyway. However, I do find it quite amusing that you believe a little man actually cares and loves you, and I find it even more amusing that you'll live your life incredibly confused and being an asshole to everyone - only to find out that YOUR WRONG. Mwhaahaha.

I don't quite get what you are saying here

The purpose, well like I have stated before God only wants you to know certain things, only him(the almighty) knows. The point of his love is because he's good, he's not evil like Satan, he wants you to go to heaven. And if he didn't have love obviously he wouldn't care.

Is it love, or is it just a selfish need of amusement? Or why do you think that this god even exists? What if we are all just termites in some kid's locker? Or maybe we are all a sand pebble on some bigger beach? Why do you think that we are necessarily some big creation by the "almighty"? We could be a video game possibly. And besides, if there is "evil" and "good", what makes you say "god" is good? Why do you think that there even is good or bad? Why is it that you are instantly attracted to anything that goes in a book that a bunch of people thought up because they had nothing else to base their beliefs other than their pathetic, useless emotions? Feelings are nothing but pure instinct, but they can also be triggered by delusions. You have no idea what kind of habitant and environment people who wrote the bible lived in. They had no health whatsoever, so their mental health affected their thoughts too.

I'm telling you. The bible was/is/and will always be a useless comforter for people. Nothing else. It is simply a fairytale.

That is one of the most ignorant and offensive things I have ever seen you post. Science has begun to understand sexuality on a more scinetific level (vs. a psychological level) and one thing is becoming clear: Sexuality is not something you choose, it is a trait (likely genetic) that you cannot influence. You have posted before that you were gay, then later you changed that to bisexual because you find women attractive, and now you are just confused and not gay at all. Really? How am I supposed to believe you at all? You just made a statement that has in effect told gay people that their feelings are not real, just a product of confusion, and contradicted yourself yet again. Bravo!
