Any one got any?I have quite a few.If you haven't heard these I highly recommend you do

Death:Everything they've ever made is good personal faves are The Sound of Perseverance,Symbolic,Human, and Scream Bloody Gore

Gorguts:Obscura, really dissonant and gloomy and technical

Atheist:Unquestionable Presence, so heavy and fast and technical it's amazing

Cannibal Corpse: Tomb of the Mutilated, it's their Magnum Opus and my favorite by them, makes death metal almost catchy.

Cynic:Focus and Traced in Air, these I don't even really consider death metal, but they're really good.Especially for those who are trying to get into death metal, they're very experimental with lots of keyboards and electronic vocals.

Tool:Aenima and Lateralus, very good, technical, and amazing drumming.

Decapitated:Everything, so technical and brutal and later very experimental, their drummer was the best.

Metallica:You've probably heard at least one of these. Kill em All,Ride the Lightning(my favorite shouldn't be over shadowed by master), Master of Puppets. For those who want something more progressive , .........And Justice for all.

Opeth:Pretty much everything, My arms,Your Hearse through Blackwater park are amazing, Still Life is one of my favorite albums of all time.

SunnO))):Black 1 and Black 2, anything new, anythign realyl, good and heavy and doomy plus Attila kills.

Mayhem:De Mystriis son Santhanas and Ord Ad Chao are amazing with the first being the most legendary black metal album of all time without a doubt.

Satyricon:Nemisis Divina,The Shadowthrone, Dark Medieval times. Almost progressive,DMT has an acoustic instrumental which rivals groups such as Opeth when it comes to the technicality.Plus Frost is one of the best black metal drummers ever, I don't care what you say virtually no one is faster.

Megadeth:Rust in Peace, very technical, catchy, and it's their most hailed album, amazing guitar work and drums a well.Holy Wars and Hangar 18 are pretty popular.

Slayer:Hell Awaits,Reign in Blood,South of Heaven,Seasons in the Abyss. Without Reign in Blood there wouldn't be death metal, the majority of these albums are very fast but SOH is slower, problem with Slayer is they use so many riffs in the same key on different songs (IE Raining Blood,Deadskin Mask,South of Heaven)

THere are more but I just realised how much I wrote.

A) Black 1 is actually called Black One.
B) There is no Black 2 or Black Two for that matter.
C) Attila is not on Black One.

Perhaps you meant White 1 and White 2? Which I sort of doubt, from a metal standpoint.

Exivious, they only have one record, and a couple of their members play with Cynic since their return

Demolition Hammer, probably you knew them, they had an amzing drummer and made two of the greates death-thrash records

Orphaned Land, Mabool and Sahara, mixng death metal and mid-eastern music, I think Nimrods will enjoy them, they remind me of Opeth at times

Ministry - Psalm 69, all records have their thing but this one's their masterpiece

Sacrifice, they are a very underrated thrash band, they made the best thrash record in 2009

Mekong Delta, the influence Mussorgsky had on them makes them amazing. Though their take on Pictures at an Exhibition is lame.

Depressive Age, their vocalist, Jan something, had a sick voice

That's of the top of my head
RP bands:
Insolent Paradox - Progressive [Forum Thread] - Post-production
Oceans - Fusion Jazz - Writing

MORBID ANGEL recorded their first demo in 1985, a year before SLAYER released Reign in Blood, and MORBID ANGEL were definitely heavier, fast, and more brutal than SLAYER. Besides, Show No Mercy is obviously their best album.

If you want recommendations, I'll give ya recommendations...

BLIND FURY - Out of Reach, perhaps the definitive NWOBHM album? Could be. It's definitely in my top ten. Melodic and hard hitting, with a vocalist that has an incredible voice. Better than any IRON MAIDEN album imo.

FATES WARNING - The Spectre Within, by far the best US heavy metal album ever recorded. I lack the words to describe this masterpiece. Pure audial perfection.

WHILE HEAVEN WEPT - Vast Oceans Lachrymose, the best album of 2009 if you ask me. Their combination of epic doom metal, oldschool progressive metal, and even a little AOR here and there is simply mindblowing.

ARGHOSLENT - Hornets of the Pogrom, the best death metal album of the last ten years. These guys have always had a complete unique sound, kind of like a death metal version of MERCYFUL FATE. Amazing nonetheless.

They are really good! Their new album The Never Ending Legend OF ORWarriOR is out end of this month and I look forward to it. What I heard was fantastic.

My recommendations (I can go on and on for hours on this subject)

Epica - Design Your Universe, The Divine Conspiracy: For fans of symphonic metal with a progressive touch.

Heaven Shall Burn - Iconoclast, really brutal mix of melodic death metal and hardcore.

Dark Tranquillity - The Gallery, one of the original Gothenburg melodic death metal bands. Contrary to In Flames, they stayed true to their roots.

Finntroll - Jaktens Tid, black metal fused with Finnish polka called humppa.

Korpiklaani, metal with violins and accordeon. They are a really good booze band considering they have songs callec Happy Little Boozer and Beer Beer

Melechesh - Emissaries, black metal with middle-eastern influences. A brutal version of Orphaned Land more or less.

Heavenly - Virus, Dust To Dust, really upbeat, happy power metal. Well, if one band deserves to be called flower metal, they are it. Together with the German warriors of Freedom Call. They're quite similar.

Swashbuckle - Cruise Ship Terror, thrash metal with a pirate theme. They are awesome live.

Sabaton - The Art Of War, heavy power metal with lyrics about modern warfare. These guys have to gift to write te most catchy melodies with ease. If you're into it, check out Ghost Division

Hail Of Bullets - Of Frost And War, A Dutch death metal supergroup with members of Gorefest, Tanathos, Asphyx and Houwitser. Insane stuff! It's brutal, yet kinda catchy.

That's enough for tonight, off to bed!
Transferium Project: Symphonic progressive melodic death metal
Carnage: Brutal old-school death metal
Ancient Legend: Progressive power/shred metal

Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - Of Natural History
Theatrical beyond belief. Also, awesome.

Old Man Gloom - Seminar III: Zozobra
Nobody has ever written any piece of music better than this.

Asva - What You Don't Know is Frontier
Abstract doom and gloom and joy.

Khanate - Things Viral
Listen to this with headphones on in the dark. I dare you.

Kayo Dot - Choirs of the Eye
This is what progressive metal should actually be. Expansive, challenging, and searching.

What did you mean by this?

:L

I'd also recommend Coheed and Cambria's stuff, most of it. I don't really like metal though, so that's just because I gave that a chance. Maralyn Manson? Most people obviously know about him but I'd say HOLYwood was his best album.

Refused is Hardcore Punk, but people who like Metal might like that.

Avenged Sevenfold?

Jk.

I'm not going to check anything out, because I know I very rarely like music most people recommend me even specifically. But as for it being pointless, isn't that the case with any expression of taste on this forum? The "Now Playing" thread for example. If just one person goes and listens to Khanate because of this, and has nightmares for the rest of their lives, that'd be hilarious.

Basically. I mean what's the point of making recommendations if folk aren't going to go and look into it? And I notice no one answered my question.

Oh, and any black metaller knows that the word is "kvlt" ;)

Oh, my bad...guess I am not grim, kvlt and trOO enough :(

To answer your question, no, I wont be bothering..mostly because I have heard nearly all the recommendations (and think half are shit....Swashbuckle been the prime transgressor). I'll sooner search stuff out on my own than ask someone.

Rhapsody (or Rhapsody of Fire, I don't actually care) - Symphony of an Enchanted Land
Neo-Classical/ Epic/ Fantasy metal.

Sabaton - Art of War
I recently discovered them. They aer fucking awesome, for fans of power metal and WAR!

Strapping Young lad - Heavy as a Really Heavy Thing
A mix between prog, industrial and dark humour. Fucking brilliant.

Blind Guardian - A Twist in the Myth
One of my favourite albums of all time. Classic power metal about epic shit.

Pestilince - Testimony of the Ancients
Death Metal like it should be.

Terasbetoni - Myrskyntuoja
A straight forward heavy metal band from Finland.

Cirith Ungol - Frost and Fire
One of the truly most underrated heavy metal bands of all time. 80s trad metal.

Scar Symmetry - Holographic Universe
Melodic Death Metal.

Ahab - The Call of the Wretched Sea
Funeral Doom Metal. Nice, slow and chunky, but somehow seems to remain eye-wateringly beautiful. Listen to "Old Thunder"

King Diamond - "Them"
People remember Abigail, but "Them" was my fave album by KD. Awesome.

Devin Townsend - Physicist
Oh, how I love Hevy Devy. Whether or not this is ACTUALLY metal, I would go gay for him.
Awards (stroking myself and thinking I'm superior):
@Chaos awards:
Best Band - Mind
Best Album - Shattered Fairytale by Mind
Technical Ecstasy - Jason Smith (x3)
Best Solo Male - Jason Smith
Birdies:
Best Producer - Jason Smith

CIRITH UNGOL was amazing. King of the Dead is my favorite LP though. Them is great, but not as good as Abigail and Fatal Portrait imo.
