RYAN ROSS HERNANDEZ RETURNS WITH HOLLYWOOD HILLS ASSASSIN / ROYAL PAINS ON JUNE 8, 2010
FIRST SINGLE "CITY MADE OF VULTURES" IS A SUBTLE ANTHEM THAT CHALLENGES CONVENTION, A KEEP YOUR HEAD OVER WATER ANTHEM... - first single to be released on March 23rd.
(New York, NY – March. 07, 2010) -- Ryan Ross Hernandez's third and fourth studio albums
Hollywood Hills Assassin and
Royal Pains will be released on June 8th, 2010 on Spice Records. The four-time Birdies/International Music Award winner's third and fourth studio album's were co-produced by Ryan Ross Hernandez and Gabriel Hunter with additional treatment from Regan Futrell and debut almost a year-in-a-half after his multi-platinum selling 2009 album,
Dark Secret Love. Incorporating the warmth, melodies and simplicity of 70's and 80's blues-rock, both
Hollywood Hills Assassin and
Royal Pains are confessionals, relaxed and liberated album recorded in a private home in California where Hernandez lived and worked over the course of over a year before wrapping at the famed Capitol Studios in Los Angeles.
The album's first single, "
City Made of Vultures" challenges conventional standards of what one can accomplish or undertake - despite society's constraints.
Hollywood Hills Assassin also showcases universal themes on "
Philosophy on People," "
Life Is a Ferris Wheel," and "
Belief Is What We're Fighting For," while flexing guitar chops on "
Medication for the Blues," and a tribute to California rock/pop of the 70's and 80's on "
The Half-Hearted Lover."
"
I approach music like a director doing a period piece," says Hernandez. "
Where Dark Secret Love was Blues/rock and Pop, Hollywood Hills Assassin and Royal Pains were written with the timelessness of Tom Petty, Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Clapton in mind. The melodies and message are concise and from-the-gut with the efficiency of simplicity."
"
Both albums are connected and instead of having fans wait 2 years for the conclusion of the one album leaves cliff-hanged, I said 'Hell, let's release both at the same exact time," says Hernandez about releasing both albums simultaneously. "
They aren't concept albums but they all univeral themes that anyone can relate to. Above anything they are about life. Mostly the shitty stuff in life but it has its moments where the sunrises and you can see a bit of sunlight at the end of the tunnel. I'd call it my lessons learned of the last 2 years or so."
A
Ryan Ross Hernandez North American tour is currently being planned and will follow the release of
Hollywood Hills Assassin /
Royal Pains in Summer 2010, details to be announced soon. In the meantime, three rare performances of Ryan Ross Hernandez playing on his own without a backing band, have been announced for March and April – March 28th in New York City at the Beacon Theatre, April 1st in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theatre, and a concluding show on April 3rd in Las Vegas at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

Somaly Mam Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to combating the global sex slave trade through the rescue, rehabilitation, and reintegration of the victims and through raising global awareness on the issue. NRDC helps create environmental laws and solve environmental issues such as curbing global warming, getting toxic chemicals out of the environment, moving America beyond oil, reviving our oceans, saving wildlife and wild places, and helping China go green.
