Best Newcomer/ Band: Mind

Since Mind joined this crazy, crazy industry, they've been working non-stop and have managed to make it with the big guns of the 2010 metal revolution. They've explored almost every crook and nanny of rock and metal, ranging from Hardcore Punk to Psychadelic Rock to Black Metal. They've also managed to pull up at the front of the Battle of the Bands (probably for a very, very brief time, but ah well.) All 3 albums released thus far have been critically successful. The vocal and guitar ranges and sounds used are immense, going from high pitched pterodactyl squeals to clean singing and then back to death grunts. The live performances are always delivered energetically and tongue-in-cheek, with clowns stage diving and various different costumes being used. Heavy. Fucking. Metal.

Best Album: The Juggernaut

A thoughtful, emotional concept album based on different ranges of sci-fi, The Juggernaut combines the brutality of old-school death metal and the intricacy of progressive/ space rock. From the bombastic Lyophilisation to the hardcore The Snake and the Pearl, this should be one to remember.

Reasons for Reckoner to be nominated in the Birdies:

Best Newcomer-Reckoner have proven themselves to be one of the best breakthrough artists, energetic live performances which don't include crazy stunts like fireworks or burning band members but simple yet groundbreaking musical performances, musically dedicated and gifted members(like JC who could play the trombone, piano, electric guitar, violin, cello, drums, glockenspiel, and even the harmonica) a strong debut album "Ïnvisible" which has received much critical praise from both the media and people inside the music industry, sold over a million copies and has stayed on the top 100 charts for over 10 weeks(ingame)..


Best Live Act-Reckoner are a simple band and do not need to get killed on stage to get the attention of the crowd, instead they captivate the crowd with their music, Carl's awesome guitar work combined with Tristan's heavy drum beats, JPC's groovy bass lines, JC's crazy guitar solos and Troy's amazing vocal range are all you need when you go to a Reckoner show. The band have sold out venues all over the UK and are yet to perform outside the country on Jakey Comatose's Negative Tour. Even back in the day when they were still known as Project: MK Ultra, the band have been known in Teignmouth as "that crazy band", the name was coined once they played in a small club with only 3 people as their audience, but the band never ceased to entertain.


Best Underground Artist-Reckoner have received much critical praise for their work, but they are yet to conquer the world with their music. The band's first single Negative was banned in the US for the controversial music video, this has hindered the band's progress but they continue to struggle through the industry no matter what challenges they face.


Best Band- I know the band isn't that big yet, nor are they to be compared to the great bands like Quarantine, Pilot, The Nimrods and the others, but they do have potential. The band has expressed their dedication to the music industry and through everything they have been through, they still end the day with smiles on their faces. I think that they should at least get nominated for the Best Band category mainly because of their music which has reached out to thousands of people throughou the country and the world.

Best New Artist-Saburben Sunrise(OOC:And yes it is supposed to be spelt that way)
Saburben Sunrise should be nominated as best new artist because they have spent little time geting out there and releaseing singles and albums. Although their first and second single didnt reach the charts their first full length album is due to reach the charts. During their performances they are not afraid to cover songs as shown in BOTB where they covered 4 different songs. They have been touring ever since they first came on to the music scene. And will continue touring through late May early June.
