The arco arena show opened with RF’s first top 40 hit ‘Fight’. “Thousands of fans screaming the lyrics at the top of their lungs was the perfect way to start off the show,” says bassist Matt Collins. Then guitarist Vincent Peters said a few words “It’s great to be here, back home in Sacramento!,”. The fans then erupt in cheers before dying down as he begins to talk some more. “As you probably know our new album comes out a week form today. But today you’re gonna get to hear quite a few songs from that album. Now this next song is one that Billie and I wrote together, this is called change.”

The band then picked up by playing a fan favorite from their debut album ‘Ive Known You’, the song was called ‘my mistake’. Billie then said a few words “The new album is I think really good. But in the past five months we’ve written so many songs that not all the songs we wrote made it onto the new album. The song were going to play now is one of those, this is called ‘Summer’”. The guys played summer. There isn’t much that can describe their live show except phenomenal, Matt and Vinny have so much energy. In this song Vinny has a killer guitar solo. After the show Vin said it was “one of my favorite songs to perform”.

“The next song were going to do is off of the new single that, if we play until past midnight, you will be able to download on itunes as soon as you get home. This is King of Caves,” said drummer Adam Rocklind. The band then performed another old song titled ‘I Know You’ from their debut album. By this time the fans in the mosh pit were ready to go crazy, but the group managed to hold them off by choosing to play their nearly 8 minute long song off the new album, “our next song is much heavier and mainly instrumental. So if you have a lighter in your pocket, now is the time to bring it out,” said Vin.

The band then played three more songs, ‘Short’, ‘Missing’, and then ‘I Live In A Wind Tunnel’. Then Vin said a few words, “let me tell you a story. I grew up, I got into my 20s. I started a band, I drank a hell of a lot of beer. The band was successful and made a comfortable amount of cash. Then the band played a concert in Sacramento California where they decided to give back. They gave back by playing five new songs that have never been heard before by anyone!”. The crowd erupted once more into cheers. The band asked that no information be given away about the five songs, but by the end of the fifth the mosh pit was full of crowd surfers and two of them managed to make it onto the stage. I (the bands bus driver) personally gave both of them a free copy of the new single before asking them to return to the pit, which lucky for me they did. Probably only because of the large security guys beside me.

“It’s been a great show, we have three more songs for you. You’re a hell of a crowd. This is ‘Hope To get Out’,” said Billie before beginning to play the bands latest hit. The band then played ‘I Remember’ which was off of their debut album. Then they closed the show to one of their favorite tracks off the new album which was ‘Bee-Keeper’. After the show the guys headed outside for an hour long meet n greet in which one of the guys who managed to get on stage apologized if it messed up the show. To that Matt replied “are you fuckin kidding me? Dude, that was the best part, I almost messed up cause I was cracking up. I sure hope someone got that on video, concert security fail, dude”.

The concert was amazing to watch from my seat backstage. I’ll be writing the tour diary for the next however many days of this tour. – Todd, the unimportant guy who drives the bus.

Next up, Oakland. Tickets go for about 7 bucks, mates.

Oakland here we come! "Last nights show was amazing. We've got a very different setlist for Oakland, mostly old stuff tonight. Were doing a few new songs but mainly older stuff and some acoustic stuff.," said Vinny before the show. THe show opened with the band's current hit 'King of Caves'. Most of the crowd was singing along to the song, despite the single having just come out today. Then Billie said a few words "Whoo. It's great to be back in Oakland. We are Reported Failure. We've got a new album coming out in less than a week. Tonight were gonna play you some new songs, some old songs. Were gonna hang out, talk a little bit after the show... Anyway, this is 'Fold the Wire', a song that I wrote with Vin. He calls it our Radiohead song, cause its sort of got that Radiohead vibe. Anyway, here we go!,".

The band went on to play two more songs from 'Ive Known You', then Vinny said a few words, "Over winter we got the chance to record some covers of some songs. We made a little album of our acoustic interpretations of songs played on electric guitars. Were gonna play a couple of those songs for you now. This is a Rise Against song called 'Audience of One',". The guys performed Audience of One and then a Oasis song called 'Morning Glory'.

"Were now going to play a couple songs off the new album. So, here goes," Matt said to the audience before the guys played 'Bee-Keeper' and 'Preachin'. They then played two more tracks from 'Ive Known You', they were 'Sober', and 'Missing'. Adam then stole Billie's mike and started talking, "We wrote over 15 songs while on tour last year. Most were meant to go on the new album, but only 10 made the cut. We had about 3 songs though that we didn't think fit on the latest album. Were thinking about releasing a couple of them on an EP sometime. For now though, this is one of those songs, it's called 'The Call'. shit, man, don't start playin I gotta get back to my drums,". After Adam returned to his drumset the music began. After playing 'The Call' the guys wrapped things up with 'Change', 'Short', and then closed the show with a fan favorite, 'I Know You'.

After the show came the meet n greet. "This show was a blast," says Billie. "Not to much routeyness (OoC: or however the heck you spell it) in the crowd, but the crowd was still energetic. It's been awhile since we've been in Oakland. It's also been awhile since Oakland had a great punk concert, so, we came and gave them one,". After the meet n greet we all went out for drinks. After everyone but Matt getting wasted as Matt was the sober driver, we went to the hotel for some rest. All we have to do tomorrow is move all the equipment across the bridge.

Day 3 of the short little semi-local tour began with a bang. A sold out concert at The Fillmore with an amazing croud was all the guys could ask for. They opened with the majestic guitar riffs and great vocals in a song off the new album called 'Short'. THen they played an acoustic cover of 'Archers' a song by the group 'Brand New'. Vin's genius is evident in this version of the song that sends shivers down the spines of many who hear it.

Then Matt talked a bit about how great it was to be back in San Francisco, which has always been one of the groups favorite places to play shows. Vin and then made a last minute decisiand decided to stick acousti and do a rendition of one of their more known songs, 'Fight' which resulted in lots of appluase, and I'm sure someone has put it on youtube already. Then things got heavier with the 8 minute long guitar epic of 'Sickman'. THen they played their current hit 'King of Caves' which was certainlyt one of the highlights of the night because at the end Adam decided to go crazy and do a drum solo that would blow Justin Bieber's 8 year old mind.

Then came the song 'Bee-Keeper' that is the bands personal favorite to perform off of the new album. As a result it is on most of the setlists for this tour. With Matt and Vin jumping blindly all around the stage its miraculous that they didn't run into anyone, but it made a hell of a show. The croud cheering, and Adam drowning in sweat the energy of the croud only grew as the band performed 'Missing' one of their songs off their debut album. Then they slowed the tempo down a bit, but not much with 'Hope To Get Out'. THen came the true highlight of the night when things slowed down for the acoustic masterpiece that is theie new song 'Change'. The croud was no longer going insane on the outside, but I'm sure Billie's vocals just blew all of their minds.

Then came a fan favorite 'My Mistake'. Followed by an acoustic cover of Good Charlotte's 'I Just Wanna Live'. Then, with the whole band pumped they decided to unveil the new song called 'The Call' to the San Francisco audience. It was met with much approval. THen the guys played 'Wind Tunnel' and two more songs from 'I've Known You'. THen came the closing song. When making the setlist for this show the plan had been to close with 'Preachin' but the band decided that though it is a great song, its closing properties wouldn't be good enough for this crowd. So they decided to do a cover of a Taking Back sunday song called 'Your Own Disaster'. The crowd loved it.

THen came one of the most fun meet n greet the band can remember. They gave out free copies of the new single to the first 50 people they say who didn't have it yet. in general it was one of the best concerts the band has ever played. After the meet n greet the band went out for drinks for a bit and then to the hotel for some sleep.

Next stop Santa Cruz!
