The arco arena show opened with RF’s first top 40 hit ‘Fight’. “Thousands of fans screaming the lyrics at the top of their lungs was the perfect way to start off the show,” says bassist Matt Collins. Then guitarist Vincent Peters said a few words “It’s great to be here, back home in Sacramento!,”. The fans then erupt in cheers before dying down as he begins to talk some more. “As you probably know our new album comes out a week form today. But today you’re gonna get to hear quite a few songs from that album. Now this next song is one that Billie and I wrote together, this is called change.”

The band then picked up by playing a fan favorite from their debut album ‘Ive Known You’, the song was called ‘my mistake’. Billie then said a few words “The new album is I think really good. But in the past five months we’ve written so many songs that not all the songs we wrote made it onto the new album. The song were going to play now is one of those, this is called ‘Summer’”. The guys played summer. There isn’t much that can describe their live show except phenomenal, Matt and Vinny have so much energy. In this song Vinny has a killer guitar solo. After the show Vin said it was “one of my favorite songs to perform”.

“The next song were going to do is off of the new single that, if we play until past midnight, you will be able to download on itunes as soon as you get home. This is King of Caves,” said drummer Adam Rocklind. The band then performed another old song titled ‘I Know You’ from their debut album. By this time the fans in the mosh pit were ready to go crazy, but the group managed to hold them off by choosing to play their nearly 8 minute long song off the new album, “our next song is much heavier and mainly instrumental. So if you have a lighter in your pocket, now is the time to bring it out,” said Vin.

The band then played three more songs, ‘Short’, ‘Missing’, and then ‘I Live In A Wind Tunnel’. Then Vin said a few words, “let me tell you a story. I grew up, I got into my 20s. I started a band, I drank a hell of a lot of beer. The band was successful and made a comfortable amount of cash. Then the band played a concert in Sacramento California where they decided to give back. They gave back by playing five new songs that have never been heard before by anyone!”. The crowd erupted once more into cheers. The band asked that no information be given away about the five songs, but by the end of the fifth the mosh pit was full of crowd surfers and two of them managed to make it onto the stage. I (the bands bus driver) personally gave both of them a free copy of the new single before asking them to return to the pit, which lucky for me they did. Probably only because of the large security guys beside me.

“It’s been a great show, we have three more songs for you. You’re a hell of a crowd. This is ‘Hope To get Out’,” said Billie before beginning to play the bands latest hit. The band then played ‘I Remember’ which was off of their debut album. Then they closed the show to one of their favorite tracks off the new album which was ‘Bee-Keeper’. After the show the guys headed outside for an hour long meet n greet in which one of the guys who managed to get on stage apologized if it messed up the show. To that Matt replied “are you fuckin kidding me? Dude, that was the best part, I almost messed up cause I was cracking up. I sure hope someone got that on video, concert security fail, dude”.
The concert was amazing to watch from my seat backstage. I’ll be writing the tour diary for the next however many days of this tour. – Todd, the unimportant guy who drives the bus.
