Post-Hell Awaits SLAYER doesn't hold a candle to KREATOR's Pleasure To Kill, DARK ANGEL's Darkness Descends and VENGEANCE's Human Sacrifice imo. Those are three of the most jawdroppingly heavy and raging thrash albums ever released imo. Especially the KREATOR album. Most of their albums bore me to tears, but that disc... man...

I would rate Darkness Descends over Pleasure To Kill anyday. |

I absolutely love Darkness Descends, but I prefer Pleasure to Kill. The only thrash record I find myself listening to more often is DESTRUCTOR's Maximum Destruction, which is basically Show No Mercy on steroids. Absolutely fucking lovely.

BTW Ryan Decapitated's first album is like a million times better than anything they did afterword,Winds of Creation is the way to go. Organic Hallucinosis is good too. The two middle albums (The Negation and Nihility) just don't match up.Mainly just the Negation. lol, my bad I guess, yeah, Death can get pretty predictable, but whatever. I'm a fan of most Decapitated stuff, especially Organic Hallucinosis, I dunno, Babylon's Pride just kinda speaks to me I guess. I'd have to for the most part agree with everything Thorgim has said, although I do actually like Reign in Blood. I mean, there are a million better thrash albums, but I wouldn't autimatically say it's bad just because so many others top it.

I think Reign in Blood is a great record, but it's just not that amazing a lot of people say it is. It's not bad by any stretch of the imagination imo. It's still a raging thrash LP.
Now I feel like putting on some death metal. I still have some INCANTATION, MORBID ANGEL, ENTOMBED, REPUGNANT and IGNIVOMOUS discs laying around, so I know what I'll be spinning for the majority of the night.

Still it's great for a quick listen, I'd love to be able to listen to a few Opeth albums everyday but I just don't have the time.I could listen to RIB like 4 times and only waste about 2 hours. |

Pretty much all my favorite black metal albums are from the 1990s, and some of my favorite death metal bands (IGNIVOMOUS, DEAD CONGREGATION, NUNSLAUGHTER, NOCTURNAL GRAVES, REPUGNANT, ORDER FROM CHAOS, TEITANBLOOD etc.) are from either the 1990s or 2000s. I like Blessed are the Sick, but not nearly as much as the Altars of Madness LP (which is a classic... it impresses me every time I listen to it) and the Abomination of Desolation demo.

Just 10 songs? That's hard. This will need serious thought. |
