RYAN ROSS HERNANDEZ RETURNS WITH WHAT KIND OF DAY HAS IT BEEN ON OCT. 19, 2010

UserPostedImage

FIRST SINGLE "HOLLYWOOD HILLS ASSASSIN" IS A EFFORTLESSLY SEDUCTIVE & IRRESISTIBLE METAPHORICAL TALE OF A KILLER THAT MEETS HIS MATCH INSIDE OF THE LOVE STRICTURE OF A HEARTBREAKER

(New York City, NY – July. 12, 2010) -- Ryan Ross Hernandez's What Kind of Day Has It Been will be released on October 19th, 2010 on Spice Records. The six-time Birdie/International Music Award winner's third studio album was co-produced by Ryan Ross Hernandez and Steve Jordan and debuts two years after his critically acclaimed 2008 album, Dark Secret Love. Incorporating the warmth, melodies and simplicity of 70's and 80's California rock, with rock-oriented blues guitar licks, and emotional vocal ballads. What Kind of Day Has It Been is a confessional, relaxed, passionate, earnest and liberated album recorded in renowned studios around the world, including Capitol Studios in Hollywood, The Village in Los Angeles, California, Avatar Studios in New York City, PKO Studios in Madrid, Spain, Abbey Road Studios in London, England, and Avex Recording Studio in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The album's first single, "Hollywood Hills Assassin" is Hernandez's sharpest depiction of the Lover's Duel yet – rounded off with dose of soul infused wooahhooohs and a sky-blue guitar solo to wrap it up. What Kind of Day Has It Been also showcases universal themes on "Remember My Name, Someday," "Slowly Burning in Dreams of Former Lovers," and "What If My Mouth Makes a Mistake," while flexing guitar chops on "Medication for the Blues," and in the showcase of the emotions one feels at the end of a relationship, by way of "(We Split) The Fame/Depression Pill." The famously collaborative guitar player also invited one of music's brightest talents, Miss Vanity, to appear on, "Remember Me," a song that Hernandez has mentioned, showcases a different side of Miss Vanity. Guest also include Ryan Ross Hernandez's former bandmate, Ashley Perry of PANIC!, and the long-awaited collaboration with the legendary, Jakey Comatose.

"I approach music like a director doing a period piece," says Hernandez. "Where Dark Secret Love was written with the timelessness of Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac and Neil Young in mind, What Kind of Day Has It Been was written with the raw passion and self-confessional of such legends as Eric Clapton, Frank Sinatra, and Bruce Springsteen. The melodies and message are concise and from-the-gut with the efficiency of simplicity. I'm not saying it is simple in the sense that many think, . The vocals are clean, the guitar licks are clean, because when you listen back to music from those three artist, they don't sugarcoat their music. And I believe with this record, I've wanted to bring back that raw, passionate, simplicity to music. If anyone has heard, In the Wee Small Hours, the LP is so beautifully and elegantly done. It's classy, which I think progressively, my music has gotten with each release, more classy. Which on this record, has come in the form of lyrically, being sad and depressing but I feel there is enough music to party to out right now. This is the album you'll listen after the party or the morning after. Which I'm perfectly fine with because so many fans let me know that my music is therapeutic for them. Which if it means being raw and open about personal experiences, I'm fine with that. Regardless of how many ex-girlfriends hate me, after I release those songs."

A Ryan Ross Hernandez North American tour is currently being planned and will follow the release of What Kind of Day Has It Been in early 2011, details to be announced soon. In the meantime, two rare performances by Ryan Ross Hernandez have been announced for July – July 22nd in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theatre and a show on July 23rd in Las Vegas at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Additional, New York City fans will be able to see a free show by the singer/songwriter on July 26th, outside of the Rockefeller Center, transmitted live on The Today Show. At all three events, Hernandez plans to debut new songs.

These concert events will raise money for two select charities – The Somaly Mam Foundation and The Michael J. Fox Foundation – The Somaly Mam Foundation is a charity working to end sex slavery, the foundation strives to get to the root of human trafficking. The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease within the decade through an aggressively funded research agenda and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson’s today. Hernandez plans to double the amount of money raised at each event, to donate to each respective charity.

ABOUT RYAN ROSS HERNANDEZ - The consistency with which Ryan Ross Hernandez combines wordcraft and melody has earned him rarefied status in popular culture as a genuine and respected songwriter and musician. Since his acclaimed solo debut in 2006 with Matters of the Heart, each release has earned Ryan Ross Hernandez additional accolades. From 2005 to 2009 with his work with rock/pop PANIC!, Dark Secret Love's 2008 release and now, What Kind of Day Has It Been, Ryan Ross Hernandez has established himself as a singer-songwriter, musician and collaborator who exceeds genre boundaries. The guitarist, vocalist and songwriter has earned six International Music Awards and sold over 16.5 million albums worldwide and 40 million singles sold, both as a soloist.

In March 2009, Time Magazine placed Ryan Ross Hernandez on their Time 100 list of the most influential contemporary thinkers, leaders, artists and entertainers. For two consecutive years, Rolling Stone Magazine featured Ryan Ross Hernandez on the cover of their annual "Guitar" issue - first with the October 2007 "Living Guitar Legends" issue and then as part of September 2009's "Guitar Heroes" round-ups featuring Hernandez with peers and icons alike.

Pairings with a range of artists are a defining trait of the musician whose collaborative streak is well-known. From rock to blues, hip-hop to jazz to country, Hernandez has performed and/or recorded in the respective styles. In 2009, Hernandez famously toured and recorded with power players Pino Palladino and Steve Jordan as Ryan Ross Hernandez Trio, whose shows featured searing blues and rock. As on Matters of the Heart and Dark Secret Love, Ryan Ross Hernandez again took the helm as the co-producer of What Kind of Day Has It Been, his third studio album, which will be released October, 19, 2010.

(OOC: In my mind it has been way too long since I've posted some sort-of RP with Ryan Ross Hernandez. So I guess you can say with this RP, that I'm back to roleplaying?)

Cristina: I really can't wait for this album, you just get better and better with every release. Also there's a song on my debut album called Remember Me. It must be a popular title.

OOC: I'm glad your back to roleplaying. There's something about your rps which makes it so fun and interesting to read. Also over 1 thousand views and just this 1 reply, that's kind of bizarre.

(OOC: Thanks for the comments. I honestly doubt that this thread has gotten over 1,000 views, probably just a forum glitch or something. :P

Cassie: Sweetie, do not be too flattered. If you saw how often I am served some, you'd know I have absolutely NO respect for myself!
