Uncharted 2 represented a step forward for all current generation video games. It showed that this generation could produce a title that could convey a true sense of action and emotion. Protagonist Nathan Drake is the new-age Indiana Jones and I'm perfectly fine with that. The fact that he has a continuing series of adventures makes me quite happy because the settings for the game can stretched so far. Frankly Uncharted 2 is the best game I've ever played, in terms of gameplay as well as story.

There were two thought processes going on in my head for this move. Firstly, I don't think NHL 09 is the best sports game ever (NBA 2K11) let alone a top 10 game of all time. The second was that Portal was a game that I had no issues with. The writing was top notch, the difficulty curve was finely tuned, the puzzles were all different while using the same set of rules, and right when the game may start to get repetitive and gimmicky it's over with a classic boss battle.

Well, from what I've heard GT5 is not the greatest driving sim of all time, nor even the greatest Gran Turismo, and certainly not the third best game of all time...

It's all down to opinion chief. I hate Metroid games, but I wouldn't say it doesn't deserve to be in the top 10.

What Gran Turismo 5 is NOT, is a driving game. From everyone I have spoken to about it, those who do not drive don't like it. However, those who do drive, and like driving, like me, appreciate the pure majesty of it. Every turn is realistic, the rumble is spot on, cockpit views on premium cars are spectacular, GT mode is the same as always, but why change it? The game is not a game. It is a pretty amazingly accurate driving SIM. I play it with a Logitech GT Force wheel, and it's very realistic compared to real driving.

Plus, the bit I have bolded above kind of negates what you said anyhow...

asdf you prove my point mate. Grid is a driving game, and Id expect people who want the game to be a game (which arguably it should be anyhow) to like Grid better. However, for those who want a driving SIM...GT5 is lightyears ahead of Grid.

Being an extremely accurate sim doesn't make something a great game. And seeing as how you yourself say it's not "a game", why is it then the third best game ever? After all MS Flight Simulator is pretty accurate and pretty popular, and based on a far more out-of-the-ordinary experience than driving cars. And the other problem with the GT5 is so realistic is that unless you've driven those cars on those tracks in real life, how would you know? And when was the last time you drove a car where your only view was a single flat panel? You're saying it's realistic compared to what, driving any car? The critical consensus of the gaming community is in favour of Forza Motorsport 3 being more fun, better interface, better graphics, better structure, etc. Have you played that? How is that "less" realistic?

I think you need more justification for GT5 being the third best game of all time.

Was sitting on amazon last night thinking..."I might buy a game," and remembered this thread, so I bought NBA 2K11. I don't even like basketball, but I remember I used to enjoy NBA Live back in the day. Hope this is as good as the reviews
