The First Video Interview
Damion Holmes is sat on his big red chair, and the door opens. He looks at the camera and says; “Hello, and welcome to TheUnderground Blogs! Today, we have the incredible new Alt-Rock band from Las Vegas – ‘Riot! In The Boulevard’!”
The four of them sit down on the large red sofa provided. “So, to the audience that doesn’t yet know you, who are you all? We shall start on the left please, with you.” Damion points over at Justin, Justin smiles, “Hey I’m Justin Mullen, I play guitar.”
Damion’s pointing finger moves across; “Hi I’m Nathan Mullen, I’m Justin’s brother and I play Drums.”
And then again, “I’m Jason Greenberg and I play Bass.”
And finally it stops at Amy, “And I’m Amy, I’m the singer and eye candy of the band.” Amy and Damion laugh. “Fantastic! Well now that we are all introduced, time for some questions!”
The lights flicker and a voice coming from all around them says “QUESTION TIME!”
The camera flicks over to Damion who is now wearing some big black shades. He slowly lowers the shades so he can look just over the top of them into the camera.
“Okay then. Amy, so I see you where always involved in school plays and things like that from a young age, but what really inspired you to get into entertainment?”
“It’s hard to pick a defining moment really, growing up in Vegas sort of just brought it out in me. I was always encouraged to join after school clubs and perform at talent shows and stuff, and I guess a love for music came about in my teens, I was a bit of a loner adolescent really and after tough days at school, I’d just sit in my room and listen to music with these guys beside me.”
“Jason, I see that money was never really a problem with your family, and your parents had many friends in the industries of music and television. What role do you think this had on your development into entertainment?”
“I think it didn’t really, yeah we could afford to see huge gigs at the MGM and stuff but really, money and my families connections didn’t really have an impact on me being interested in being in a band. I guess when my parents took me to see Aerosmith perform in 2005 though, that’s when I decided I wanted to be onstage.”
“Justin, What really spurred you into taking action about your interests? I read somewhere that you had always been fascinated with the glamour that was the music industry, but you never really acted on it until you reached your teenage years”
“Yeah, well I was never gonna be a child star or anything. And it was always in my mind but I never thought of it as a career and if Amy hadn’t said, “Hey do you wanna be in a band?” then I don’t think I’d have ever considered it really. I played Guitar for fun without a major interest in becoming Slash or Joe Perry. But Amy asked and I thought, Why not.”
“Nathan now, “I read somewhere that you and your brother were incredibly close from a young age. Bullying always seemed to be an issue, but what happened to your life that turned you around and made you one of the most popular guys in high school?”
“I have no idea, One minute I was the loner geek guy, getting bullied and the next minute I was a legend. I dunno what happened with that, it just happened really without me trying or even wanting to become popular, I don‘t think I changed at all but I guess high school kids are very fickle.”
“So what inspired you guys to get together and be a band?”
Jason: “It was all about Amy. I don’t think any of us even considered it until Amy asked us to be in a band, it’s weird how things happen.”
Amy: “I just wanted to give it a shot, see if we could do something good. Making noise was probably my biggest motivation to start a band, I guess I just wanted to make my parents pissed, like all teenagers they were our enemy’s.”
“With you guys all being so young, how are you hoping your lives will be affected by this? What are your aspirations as a band?”
Amy: “We wanna be huge. That’s it. We’re fine if we don’t become huge because we’ll happily continue to play in Jason’s Garage but we wanna see how far we can take this thing. If in 5 years time we can say we’ve enjoyed the past 5 years then that’s enough for me. As long as I’m happy I don’t really care too much about the results.”
Jason: “We just happy to be here really. If we can get signed then great, but we’re willing to slum it out and grow as people along the way.”
“And thank you very much for your time Amy, Jason, Justin and Nathan. To you guys at home, we are finished now – here playing Sweet Little Fantasy’s for you tonight is RIOT! IN THE BOULEVARD!!!!!!”
Amy is sat on a stool at the front of the stage with Jason and Justin playing bass and guitar behind her, with Nathan playing drums. Amy takes a hold of the microphone, “So this is the first song I ever wrote. It’s called Sweet Little Fantasy’s, I hope you like it.”
She begins singing the song with her youthful voice but it has a loudness to it.
