Saturn Records Interviews: Some Kind of PlanetBK:Good evening, I'm Bryan Kobayashi, tonight, I have with me the phenomenal Space-Themed punk band: Some Kind of Planet. How are you guys tonight?
NH:I'm great, I'm kind of drunk but great nonetheless.
BK:Good, good, so you just got back from your tour with Aqua Manhattan; how was it?
NH:It was awesome, Aqua Manhattan are some pretty rad dudes.
LG:It was really cool seeing places we've never been to, meeting some really rad people, hanging out with Aqua Manhattan, it was all a blast!
BK:I saw the stream from Boise, some pretty awesome stuff. Anyway, let's get to what everyone wants to hear about: the EP-
NH: Oh god, haha.
BK:Yep, we're taking about it. Anyway, describe the EP for me, please.
AJ:It's like watching a space documentary with blaring punk as the background music. We have a lot of sample work and Moog synth goodness in it.
ER:Imagine moshing on the moon. It's sort of like that.
BK:I was not expecting that. Haha, I want to mosh on the fucking moon now.
NH:I have a rocketship, let's all go.
BK:Sounds fun, how about after the interview? So, are you planning a release party?
NH:No, but the album release party is gonna be hella sweet.
BK:Do you have any special allusions or meanings in your songs?
JP:No, not really. Unless interplanetary relationships count.
BK:Sure, why not. What was it like getting to use our studio for the first time? I wish I was in town for it.
NH:You guys have some very good equipment, we were so happy to use it.
BK:It's very nice equipment. What should listeners expect from your EP?
ER:Expect to have an irresistible urge to go to space.
JP:I think our listeners should expect something very different from our first album, we've kind of leaned more towards surf punk on this one. Think Man or Astroman with heavy amounts of synths.
BK:Nice, I look forward to hearing it. Is your favorite track?
NH:Return from Venus, I get to scream for that one.
LG:Manifest Destiny, that one is funk-ay!
JP:Return from Venus
ER:It Seems We've Stumbled On, just to give fans a hint, it's fast!
AJ:Nixonetics, it has a pretty sick disco feel to it
BK:I absolutely love the track names, What gave you the inspiration?
NH:Sci-fi, mostly.
BK:Alright, fair enough. Thank you guys so fucking much for joining me, I can't wait to hear the EP. Remember, readers, it's May 6th, you can order it from our website or download it for five dollars or at any Some Kind of Planet show. Agin, thank you, Some Kind of Planet for being awesome and having this interview.
NH:Anytime, we hope everyone enjoys our EP as much as we do.
