Saturn Records Interviews: Some Kind of Planet
BK:Good evening, I'm Bryan Kobayashi, tonight, I have with me the phenomenal Space-Themed punk band: Some Kind of Planet. How are you guys tonight?
NH:I'm great, I'm kind of drunk but great nonetheless.
BK:Good, good, so you just got back from your tour with Aqua Manhattan; how was it?
NH:It was awesome, Aqua Manhattan are some pretty rad dudes.
LG:It was really cool seeing places we've never been to, meeting some really rad people, hanging out with Aqua Manhattan, it was all a blast!
BK:I saw the stream from Boise, some pretty awesome stuff. Anyway, let's get to what everyone wants to hear about: the EP-
NH: Oh god, haha.
BK:Yep, we're taking about it. Anyway, describe the EP for me, please.
AJ:It's like watching a space documentary with blaring punk as the background music. We have a lot of sample work and Moog synth goodness in it.
ER:Imagine moshing on the moon. It's sort of like that.
BK:I was not expecting that. Haha, I want to mosh on the fucking moon now.
NH:I have a rocketship, let's all go.
BK:Sounds fun, how about after the interview? So, are you planning a release party?
NH:No, but the album release party is gonna be hella sweet.
BK:Do you have any special allusions or meanings in your songs?
JP:No, not really. Unless interplanetary relationships count.
BK:Sure, why not. What was it like getting to use our studio for the first time? I wish I was in town for it.
NH:You guys have some very good equipment, we were so happy to use it.
BK:It's very nice equipment. What should listeners expect from your EP?
ER:Expect to have an irresistible urge to go to space.
JP:I think our listeners should expect something very different from our first album, we've kind of leaned more towards surf punk on this one. Think Man or Astroman with heavy amounts of synths.
BK:Nice, I look forward to hearing it. Is your favorite track?
NH:Return from Venus, I get to scream for that one.
LG:Manifest Destiny, that one is funk-ay!
JP:Return from Venus
ER:It Seems We've Stumbled On, just to give fans a hint, it's fast!
AJ:Nixonetics, it has a pretty sick disco feel to it
BK:I absolutely love the track names, What gave you the inspiration?
NH:Sci-fi, mostly.
BK:Alright, fair enough. Thank you guys so fucking much for joining me, I can't wait to hear the EP. Remember, readers, it's May 6th, you can order it from our website or download it for five dollars or at any Some Kind of Planet show. Agin, thank you, Some Kind of Planet for being awesome and having this interview.
NH:Anytime, we hope everyone enjoys our EP as much as we do.

Some Kind of Planet: Manifest Destiny

Writers:
Noel Houston (Lyrics)
Levi Garza (Instrumentals)
Genre:Dance Punk
Produced by: Bryan Kobayashi
Track number: 1

Manifest Destiny is the first track off of Some Kind of Planet's new EP entitled "Return to Venus." The song starts out fast with a distorted synth with Jerry Pratt playing drum fills. The song quickly goes into the first verse, followed by the chorus. The song goes through a few verses and then dissolves into a slower tempo that builds up into a fast jam that has a similar sound to a dubstep drop.

Lyrics:
What did you?
To set me up to my manifest destiny?
What did I do to set you up to your obvious fate?

Why didn't I realize you'd leave me?
(I realized those were some real lies!)
Why did you lie to me like you did

Today I learned not to take things that weren't mine
But you kept on stealing my heart.
You also took away my love for you.

Why didn't I realize you'd leave me
(I realized those were some real lies!)
Why did you lie to me like you did?

Why didn't I realize you'd leave me
(I realized those were some real lies!)
Why did you lie to me like you did?

Ahhhhhhhhhhh (Ohhhhhhh whoa whoa)
Ahhhhhhhhhhh (Ohhhhhhh whoa whoa)

erich: if you are like me,and i know i am....i use the phrase "manifest destiny" as an excuse for everything. it just rolls off the tongue when in.....various states of mind. so this gets my thumbs up,and other things. yes,its that good.

Some Kind of Planet: Nixonetics

Writers:Noel Houston (Lyrics and Instrumentals)
Genre: Dance Punk
Produced by:Bryan Kobayashi
Track:2

Nixonetics is the second track off of Some Kind of Planet's EP: Return to Venus. The song is a slow song, but a dance track nonetheless. It stays consistant in the tempo and contains a guitar solo.

Last night I dreamt I died with my rationality out of place and my teeth missing.
I woke up alive but I lost myself in the blankets
Called my best friend
He told me to leave him alone

Every time I dream I die, I wake up in strange places
Or repremended by unfamiliar faces
I guess it's time for me to grow up.

Every time I dream I die, I wake up in strange places
Or repremended by unfamiliar faces.
I guess they're familiar, I took them to hell and back
Except hell is my house.

Nothing makes sense
Nothing makes sense
I'll just blame it on my childish nature
Nothing makes sense
Nothing makes sense

What the fuck am I doing with my life
Sitting in bed or pretending I'm an astronaut
It's more productive than I once though

Every time I die, I wake up in strange places
Or repremended by unfamiliar faces
I guess it's time for me to grow the fuck up.

Some Kind of Planet: 50's Comics

Writers:Levi Garza (Lyrics and instrumentals)
Genre: Synth Funk-Punk
Producer:Bryan Kobayashi
Track: 3

50's Comics is the joke song of the EP, the song is a cheesy, love song with incredibly corny sexual lyrics, a fast tempo change that goes back into Noel's falsetto chorus.

50's Comics, in mint condition
Rip that shit out of it's protective bag
Rip it out like my love; hard and mericiless
Lay down on my bed
Let the smell of aged paper turn you on
As I lay on top of you and wrap my warm hands around your cold hands

Put your hands in your air if you just don't care
Stuff your hands down my crotch of you feel like
Put your hands in the air if you just don't care
Stuff your hands down my crotch if you feel like

Some Kind of Planet: Return to Venus

Writers: Noel Houston (Lyrics)
Aaron Jacobs (Instrumentals)
Producer: Bryan Kobayashi
Genre: Dance Punk
Track: Four

Return to Venus is the title track to Some Kind of Planet's EP. The song is a fast three minute song containing a hook that Noel screams. The song also contains fast punk-style drumming in it.

Don't say yes
Don't say no
Let your actions speak louder than your words
Cut off your limbs
Jump off your roof
Or maybe just return to Venus

Let your feet burn off
It's not really that hot if you put ice on it
Let's kill some time
Let's kill ourselves

Ahhhhhhh
I crash landed straight into your heart
I find that hard to believe
I think it was just Venus
Maybe it's because you're so hot.

We were born to kill, whole races of alien species
All while holding hands
It seemed perfect
Until we landed on Venus

The heat killed me on contact
You rushed me back into the ship and got the fuck out of there
Just when it seemed like I was dead for good, we returned to Venus

Falling asleep with cruise control on
We all though it was an auto pilot
Then we crashed!

Ahhhhhhh
I crash landed straight into your heart
I find that hard to believe
I think it was just venus
Maybe it's because your so hot.

Dylan: Okay, here's my take; I think if you and the Hess clan teamed up, it would be insane. I'm actually loving the lyrics and the sounds. It's not what I'd normally listen to but it's a beautiful thing to discover new music right? So far track twoooo is my favorite, I do that all the time; "Nothing makes sense/I'll just blame it on my childish nature" and I'm ready for the last track :O

OOC: Nice job on all the songs and the rp in general. Kudos to trying and I can tell you're really trying your hardest :)

Noel: That would be guh-narly. Yeah, about the fifth track, we kind of had a major mastering fuck up with it on the website. We put some extra synth noises in it and the master fucked it up so we had to redo it. It's gonna be up today.

It Seems We've Stumbled on (Some Kind of Planet)

Writers:Noel Houston(Instrumentals and lyrics)
Zastava Egeland (Guest synth production)
Producer:Bryan Kobayashi
Digital version mastered and produced by Zastava Egeland
Genre:Dance Punk
Track: 5

After discovering a major mistake in tracking and mastering, Some Kind of Planet re mastered the final track off of the EP, It Seems We've Stumbled On (Some Kind of Planet). The song has been described to have a cheesy 80's synth sound mixed with Dan Croll.

Sometimes
I wonder if the world is as small as people say
And if our solar system is strewn across a table
in a game of marbles

Maybe so
I Guess We've Stumbled On
I Guess We've Stumbled On
I Guess We've Stumbled On
