'GOOD MORNING AMERICA" WITH SPECIAL GUEST REESE HOLLINSWORTH

UserPostedImageUserPostedImage

Background:

Following his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, which was aired two days ago, he had announced that he would be performing live at Times Square on Good Morning America. This will be his second television appearance and his first (legit) live performance; not pre-recorded like last time.

UserPostedImage

Dan Harris: Hello and welcome to Good Morning America! I'm Dan Harris from ABC News and I'd like to warn you that this morning's show will be a bit longer due to a special guest. Let's see who this special guest is.

Narrator: After debuting his first EP, In Hiding... (1 of 2), Reese Hollinsworth has released three singles, the ill-fated "Me, Myself & I," which was not even mentioned by any media; and two controversial singles: "Naughty Girl" and "If I Were a Boy/You Oughta Know." These two singles achieved moderate commercial success, with "Naughty Girl" reaching as high as number 24. Now, this is now his first time promoting a single on live television, right here on Good Morning America.

Dan Harris: There you have it, special guest Reese Hollinsworth will be joining us today with a very special appearance that is coming at the end of the show. Now let's go back to the news today. First...

[...Fast forward to last 40 minutes of show]

Dan: And now, we are diverting our attention to Times Square, where we have our very own George Stephanopoulos.

[Switch to Times Square...]

UserPostedImage

George Stephanopoulos: Thank you, Dan. Hello, I'm George Stephanopoulos reporting to you live from, say, 10 feet above Times Square and I have Reese Hollinsworth sitting with me today. Here he is, sitting in front of me. Welcome, Reese. Great to have you here with us.

Reese Hollinsworth: Well, thanks for having me.

George: So, you appeared on The Tonight Show and you premiered your new single there. Let's roll tape back to that performance, shall we?

Quote:
[Reese and his dancers begin to faux-march to the music as the singer starts to sing the second verse. After the first line, the complicated choreography begins again but Reese is still hanging in there, singing powerfully. Then, he and his dancers dip to do the Beyoncé signature crawling, which they have done successfully.]

It's hot up in here
DJ don't be scared to run this, run this back
I'm reppin' for the girls who taking over the world
Help me raise a glass for the college grads

41 rollin' to let you know what time it is (check)
You can't hold me (you can't hold me)
I work my 9 to 5, better cut my check

Reese: *laughs*

George: It truly is a great performance. So, did you know you were possible of... *points to TV* that?

Reese: To be honest, I didn't know what the hell I was doing. *both laugh* I was, like, trying to remember the words and the choreography and just trying to do the best I can. And I was so afraid that I wasn't gonna do well that I asked the sound guy to put only music in my earbuds. So if you're gonna ask me how I sounded, let's just put an answer that I didn't know what the hell I was singing at the time.

George: So, the performance was actually taped last Sunday. So it must've been a real risk for you, huh?

Reese: I-I'd like to think so. But there were a lot of rules there already. You know, all recording devices were confiscated until the end of the taping so no recording happened there. But, I was still afraid. Like, I was asking "What if some random person snuck in with a recorder or something and leaked the performance online?" Every morning, I'd wake up and, like, reaching towards my laptop as fast as possible *chuckles* and Google myself to see if it's been leaked yet. But, thank God, the song didn't leak out and the performance stayed put till Friday. And, at home, I was, like, "Thank God!" *both laugh*

George: But you tweeted that you watched your segment on TV with your friend. And, after seeing it, how did you feel about it?

Reese: I was... shocked, to say the least.

George: Really?

Reese: Well, I told you already that I didn't know what my voice sounded like. So, when I actually heard myself for the first time, I was like "Whoa." *laughs* And then the friend commented "Damn, you look even better than I do." And my friend was a very fit and healthy fashionista, so I thought "maybe, she's right." I mean, I don't know what the other guys think. I just drowned myself in rehearsal for today.

*both laughs*

George: Speaking of today, you said you were gonna perform three songs.

Reese: Mm-hmm.

George: So "Run the World"'s probably gonna be performed today. But what are the other two songs?

Reese: Well, at first I wanted to do my three singles. But then, "Naughty Girl" wasn't allowed. For obvious reasons. *laughs* Then, I wanted to do three songs on the single. But "***Flawless" is out. Obviously. So I was faced with a dreaded decision of doing "Single Ladies." So I'm hoping not to disappoint the Beyoncé fans out there.

George: Well, I'm sure you're gonna do great.

Reese: Thank you. Oh, and there's a surprise, as well.

George: Ooh, a surprise. *rubs hands evilly* *both laugh* Well, we're gonna see that in a while. So, the single's coming out tomorrow.

Reese: Yeah, midnight.

George: And your follow-up EP already came out, like, last week. And you have your first original song on there, too. "Here's to Being 22."

Reese: Wow, I'm surprised you noticed. It was, like, hidden in a sea of Beyoncé and a river of Taylor Swift. So... *chuckles*

George: So, what was the song about?

Reese: It's funny because I first wrote the song when I was 13. And back then, I didn't know how the hell being 22 felt like. So, I just put in every single kind of knowledge I got from movies and TV and it got bunched up on that song. And, at 22, I somehow came across the song again. Took it out. Made a few changes to it. Done.

George: So you recorded the song by yourself?

Reese: Yeah, pretty much.

George: But, in the credits, you also credited Taylor Swift and Avril Lavigne. Why did you do it?

Reese: Well, I remember that those two songs kind of inspired "Here's to Being 22." So it just felt right to credit them for the song.

George: Well, I wish the single and the album are gonna do great on the charts.

Reese: Thank you very much.

George: Well, unfortunately, we only have a few minutes to go. But, I think we can squeeze in a lightning round.

Reese: Really? I love lightning rounds.

George: Then, you're gonna love this one. This is the GMA Hot Seat.

(Try to ignore the 'Economy Edition')(Ignore the 'Economy Edition'!)

George: You have 45 seconds to answer a few questions that we have right here. So, let's get started, shall we?

Reese: Okay, let's do it.

George: Question one: favorite TV show?

Reese: Scandal

George: Who would you date: Robert Pattinson or Taylor Lautner?

Reese: Both.

George: *laughs* Who is better: Beyoncé or Katy Perry?

Reese: Definitely Beyoncé. No offense, Katycats.

George: None taken. *both laughs* Who's the better couple: Sweeran (that's Ed Sheeran & Taylor Swift) or Sterek (that's Derek Hale & Stiles Stilinski from Teen Wolf)

Reese: Umm... uhh... Sterek.

*alarm buzzes*

George: It seems like we're out of time. Thank you, Reese, for this lovely interview.

Reese: No, thank you.

George: We'll let you go change now, for your performance. *Reese leaves* Well, there you have it, a closer look into the life of Reese Hollinsworth. But, don't change the channel, because we have Reese performing in the middle of Times Square in about *looks at watch* 5 minutes. Stay tuned, we'll be right back.

[TBC... P.S.: The performances will likely come tomorrow night as it is night where I'm at. Hope you enjoyed this interview. Bye!]

NOTE (applies for this and next 3 posts): Reese; (Back-up singers); ~~~ = (High) extended note

George: Welcome back to Good Morning America. We are just a few seconds away from Reese Hollinsworth's performance. Meanwhile, let's check up on Robin Roberts, who we have downstairs in the middle of Times Square.

[Switch to Times Square streets...]

UserPostedImage

Robin Roberts: Thank you, George. And as you can see here, the streets are filled with people. It's not something you see from a newcomer to the industry so it clearly shows that he has great attraction and the industry's looking for something different. And this is from an artist who's just doing covers. This is really an amazing turnout.

George: Since it's gonna be a few more seconds until the performance starts, so let's give the folks at home some weather news, shall we?

Robin: *laughs* True, true. Well, it's a bright and sunny 69 degrees Fahrenheit right now. The low today is 64 and is expected to go as high as 82. So it's a relatively pleasant day in the summer. That's all the express weather news we have for today. *laughs*

[Suddenly, loud sirens come up and a helicopter appears from a building to the middle of the street. Flying down from a long brown-yellow piece of fabric is Reese, wearing a black trench coat and black boots with a white and red jumpsuit inside.

UserPostedImageUserPostedImageUserPostedImage

(the clothes inside is the right one, not the left one)

Reese starts to sing the hook while the helicopter gently lowers itself nearer and nearer to the stage. He continues to sing the first half of the chorus before fully landing on the wide end of the stage. While Reese was flying, two back-up dancers dance as they help to entertain the waiting audience while he flies onto the stage. After landing on the stage, Reese joins the back-up dancers while singing the rest of the chorus.]

Ring the alarm
I been through this too long
But I'll be damned if I see another chick on your arm
Won't you ring the alarm?
I been through this too long
But I'll be damned if I see another chick on your arm

She gon' be rockin' chinchilla coats (If I let you go)
Getting the house off the coast (If I let you go)
She gon' take everything I own (If I let you go)
I can't let you go
Damn, if I let you go
She gon' rock them VVS stones
(If I let you go)
Couped in the 'bach or the Rolls (If I let you go)
She gon' profit everything I taught (If I let you go)
I can't let you go
Damn, if I let you go

[Reese starts to sing the first verse while the crowd continues the cheering which started from Reese landing on the stage. While he starts to sing the pre-chorus, four female back-up dancers surround him from behind, dancing as if they are supporting Reese in his situation. During the first half of the chorus, instead of Reese, it's the back-up singers behind who sing. In the second half of the chorus, he sings the first half of each line while dancing in the second, relying on his back-up singers. While he starts to sing the hook, two shirtless male back-up dancers stand behind Reese, while two more settle a throne-like chair for Reese to sit.]

Tell me how should I feel
When I know what I know,
And my female intuition
Telling me you a dog?
People told me 'bout the flames
I couldn't see through the smoke
When I need answers, accusations
What you mean you gone choke?
(Oh)

You can't stay, you gotta go (Oh)
Ain't no other chicks spending your dough
This is taking a toll, the way the story unfolds
Not the picture perfect movie everyone would've saw~~~ Hey!

(She gon' be rockin' chinchilla coats if I let you go

[Reese starts to sing the second verse as the four male back-up dancers stand masculinely as his bodyguards. From the audience, another (clothed) male back-up dancer rises onto the stage, trying to reach Reese before being restrained by another two (shirtless) male back-up dancers who rise upon the stage from the same place the clothed dancer did. Reese stands up abruptly from his seat, nearly stopped by two bodyguards in front. However, he was able to stop the bodyguards from sitting him down again. He then walks up to the clothed man, eyeing him up while singing the second pre-chorus before pretend-kicking him down, making the clothed man jump back a bit. In the final line of the second pre-chorus, while Reese belts the final note while running back to his throne, the shirtless back-up dancers lift the clothed man up and down to the audience, before jumping down themselves. What follows the second pre-chorus saw Reese and his four bodyguards skip-walk to the circular end of the stage before the dancers help Reese take off his trench coat. The music abruptly ends, signifying the end of the first performance.]

Tell me how should I feel
When you made me belong
And the thought of you just touching her
Is what I hate most?
I don't want you but I want it
And I can't let it go
To know you give it to her like you gave it to me, come on
(Oh)

He's so arrogant and bold (Oh)
She gon' love that sh--, I know
I done put in a call, time to ring the alarm
'Cause you ain't never seen a fire like the one I'ma cause~~~ What?

Chris: Yo, reese. You sing very well, so much so that I can only talk to you in person. Your voice just throws me off I keep forgetting you're a guy.

NOTE: (Audience (sing like this))

Reese: New York City! *smiles widely* Honestly, guys, y'all are the best crowd I've ever seen in my life. *audience cheers* And I am very much regretting wearing this in this early of the morning. *audience laughs* I have to say, that performance was very rushedly rehearsed. A lot of sleepless nights singing and dancing. But, seeing this amazing crowd and the spectacular support does make it all worth while. *audience cheers* So, let's get on with the show, shall we? *audience cheers*

[A loud musical shriek sounded loudly and the crowd, immediately knowing the next song, screams loudly. Reese starts singing the first verse of "If I Were a Boy/You Oughta Know," which is the first verse of "Boy." The singer remains still during the first half, but in the second, he and his back-up dancers start to move their heads left and right rhythmically. Then, he starts to sing the chorus of "Boy," where he, in the first half he runs to left side and holds out the microphone to let the audience sing, and does the same on the right side in the second half.]

If I were a boy, even just for a day
I'd roll out of bed in the morning
And throw on what I wanted and go

Drink beer with the guys
And chase after girls
I'd kick it with who I wanted
And I'd never get confronted for it,
Cause they stick up for me

Sing! If I were a boy
(I think I could understand)
How it feels to love a girl
I swear I'd be a better man

I'd listen to her

('Cause I know how it hurts)
When you lose the one you wanted
Cause he's taking you for granted
And everything you had got destroyed

[Reese starts to sing the second verse, putting the emphasis on the second verse by re-enacting the movement of hanging up the phone. During the third and fourth lines, he and his back-up dancers turn their heads to the finger-snapping sounds. Things stay relatively tame in the body movement department before he starts to sing the bridge of "Boy." At that moment, he runs to left and right side of the stage, singing emotively to the audience while they cheer as he holds their hands. As he belts out the last high note of "Boy," he returns to his original spot on the stage.]

If I were a boy
I would turn off my phone
Tell everyone it's broken
So they'd think that I was sleeping alone

I'd put myself first
And make the rules as I go
Cause I know that she'd be faithful
Waiting for me to come home,
To come home, to come home, to come home

It's a little too late for you to come back
Say it's just a mistake
Think I'd forgive you like that
If you thought I would wait for you
You thought wrong~~~, wrong~~~, wrong~~~

[Reese looks out to the crowd with an evil, mysterious look. He then starts to sing the verse of "Know." After the first half verse, he dips with his legs wide open as he sings the second half of the verse. The singer then encourages the audience to sing the first half of the pre-chorus by shouting out "Sing!" before running across the runway to the front of the stage. After that, he sings the second-half of the pre-chorus.]

I want you to know that I'm happy for you
And I want nothing but the best for you both

Another version of me, Mr. Duplicity?
I hate to bug you in the middle of dinner
It was a slap in the face
How quickly I was replaced
And are you thinking of me when you--?

Sing!

('Cause the love that you gave, that we made wasn't able to make it enough for you to be open wide, no)
And every time you speak her name
Does she know how you told me you'd hold me until you died? 'Til you died?
But you're still alive

[Then, Reese sings emotively to the chorus of "Know," making angry face expressions at the general direction of the crowd, fitting to the angry, rocky attitude of the song. During one line, he holds out the microphone to the crowd, prompting them to sing the empty line. After finishing the chorus, he flips his new brown wig at the audience in a circular motion, making the audience scream in enjoyment. After finishing the hair-flip, Reese switches back to "Boy," belting out the final chorus of the first song. After a few moments of gazing out to the cheering crowd, he slowly sings the final line: "But you're just a boy."]

And I'm here to remind you of the mess you left when you went away
(It's not fair to deny me) of the cross I bear that you gave to me
You, you, you oughta know

But you're just a boy
Baby, you don't understand
Until you lose the one you wanted
Cause you're taking her for granted
And everything you had got destroyed

But you're just a boy...

Reese: I'd like to warn you that that will be the only song that I would be able to sing nearly the whole song. *audience laughs* Okay. For this next song, I'd like y'all to repeat after me. Y'all ready? Okay, here we go. (normal) Heh-eh-hey.

Audience: Heh-eh-hey.

Reese: (louder, higher) Heh-eh-eh-ey.

Audience: Heh-eh-eh-ey.

Reese: (softer) Heh-eh-hey.

Audience: Heh-eh-hey.

Reese: (even softer) Heh-eh-eh-ey.

[The electric guitar gets louder and louder as the hey-ing gets softer. Both abruptly stop before the speaker sounds Beyoncé saying "Now put your hands up." Then, the familiar opening tunes of "Single Ladies" come up as Reese sings the opening lines while holding out his left hand, showing the non-existent engagement ring and flipping his head to the side whenever he's not singing. In the final line of the hook, he lets the back-up singers shine as he and his dancers put their hands and left leg up in emphasis of said line.]

All the single ladies (All the single ladies)
All the single ladies (All the single ladies)
All the single ladies (All the single ladies)
All the single ladies
(Now put your hands up)

[Reese stands confidently with his left hip to the side, one hand on said hip while the other hand holds the microphone as he sings the first two lines of the first verse. He then starts doing the famous choreography done by Beyoncé in the "Single Ladies" music video. After fully singing the first verse, he and his dancers dance the first chorus' choreography while his back-up singers singing the entire chorus. He then dips to the ground kneeling on one knee as he starts to sing the first two lines of the second verse. Then, he rose up to standing position in the two words, "Acting up." During the second verse, the choreography is mainly the back-up dancers' doing, not much for Reese as he continues to sing said verse.]

(Cause if you liked it then you should have put a ring on it
If you liked it then you should've put a ring on it
Don't be mad once you see that he want it
If you liked it then you should've put a ring on it

Wuh uh oh uh uh oh oh uh oh uh uh oh
Wuh uh oh uh uh oh oh uh oh uh uh oh

Cause if you liked it then you should have put a ring on it
If you liked it then you should've put a ring on it
Don't be mad once you see that he want it
If you liked it then you should've put a ring on it
)

I got gloss on my lips, a man on my hips
Hold me tighter than my Dereon jeans
Acting up, drink in my cup
I could care less what you think
I need no permission, did I mention
Don't pay him any attention
Cause you had your turn
And now you gonna learn
What it really feels like to miss me

[The back-up singers rise to the occasion to sing the chorus once more as Reese and his dancers do the second chorus' choreography. However, during the bridge, it was all Reese singing (with back-up getting one line) while doing the complicated choreography of the bridge. After that, he sings the hook one more time as his back-up dancers clap to the music. This prompts the audience to clap along with them, as well. The "oh"'s after the second hook, like last times, are sang by the back-up singers as Reese and his two female back-up dancers redo the steps of the last "oh"'s.]

Don't treat me to these things of the world
(I'm not that kind of girl)
Your love is what I prefer, what I deserve~~~
Is a man that makes me then takes me
And delivers me to a destiny, to infinity and beyond
Pull me into your arms
Say I'm the one you want
If you don't, you'll be alone
And like a ghost I'll be gone

(All the single ladies) All the single ladies
(All the single ladies) All the single ladies
(All the single ladies) All the single ladies
All the single ladies
Now put your hands up

(Wuh uh oh uh uh oh oh uh oh uh uh oh
Wuh uh oh uh uh oh oh uh oh uh uh oh
)

[Reese finishes the song by singing powerfully the lyrics to the final chorus while doing the empowering choreography, a feat only achieved by Beyoncé. He exclaims on the final line of the song by pointing to his left ring finger, implying "If you want it, then you should've put a ring on it," signifying the end of the third song. This makes the audience roar in excitement as Reese returns to normal standing position, smiling widely at the crowd with what seems to be tears in his eyes.]

Cause if you liked it then you should have put a ring on it
If you liked it then you should've put a ring on it
Don't be mad once you see that he want it
If you liked it then you should've put a ring on it

Cause if you liked it then you should have put a ring on it
If you liked it then you should've put a ring on it
Don't be mad once you see that he want it
If you liked it then you should've put a ring on it

Wuh uh oh

Reese: You guys are honestly the best crowd I've ever seen in my entire life. *audience cheers* Seriously, your support just makes all the late nights and anxiety worthwhile. *audience cheers* Okay, for this final song, I wanna ask y'all a few questions. Ladies, do my kings run this motha?

Back-up singers: Hell, no.

Reese: Do my fellas run this motha?

Back-up singers: Hell, no.

Reese: Do my boys run this motha?

Back-up singers: Hell, no.

Reese: Do my queens run this motha?

Back-up singers: Hell, yeah.

Reese: Do my ladies run this motha?

Back-up singers: Hell, yeah.

Reese: Do my girls run this motha?

Back-up singers: Hell, yeah.

Reese: Who run the world?

Back-up singers: Girls.

Reese: Who run the world?

Back-up singers: Girls.

Reese: Girls! We run the world!

[The opening beat of the drums of "Run the World (Girls)" begin to sound on the speaker as several female back-up dancers march onto the stage. Reese encourages the crowd to chant the opening lines along with the back-up singers as he runs back to the end of the stage, where a microphone stand awaits the singer on the black and white steps. He makes it back in time for the shoulder-shake at the end of the hook. He stands to sing for a few seconds before retrieving the mike from the stand once more and walking down the steps to the back of the middle runway. While doing this, he sings the first four lines of the chorus before breaking out into dance in the next eight lines, leaving the job to his trusty back-up dancers. Finishing the choreography, he returns to the mike stand and starts to sing the first verse. He then continues to the last part of the first verse before the pre-chorus, when four back-up dancers get closer to Reese, doing the choreography with him.]

(Girls, we run this motha. Yeah!
Girls, we run this motha. Yeah!
Girls, we run this motha. Yeah!
Girls, we run this motha. Yeah!
)
GIRLS!

Who run the world? (Girls)
Who run the world? (Girls)
Who run the world? (Girls)
Who run the world? (Girls)
Here we go!
(Who run this motha? Girls!
Who run this motha? Girls!
Who run this motha? Girls!
Who run this motha? Girls!
Who run the world? Girls!
Who run the world? Girls!
Who run the world? Girls!
Who run the world? Girls!
)

Some of them men think they freak this like we do
But no they don't
Make your check, come at they neck,
Disrespect us, no they won't

Boy don't even try to touch this (touch this)
Boy this beat is crazy (crazy)
This is how they made me (made me)
Houston, Texas, baby

This goes out to all my girls
That's in the club, rocking the latest
Who will buy it for themselves and get more money later

I think I need a barber (barber)
None of these *gibberish* can fade me (fade me)
I'm so good with this
I remind you I'm so hood with this

Boy I'm just playing
Oh, come here baby
Hope you still like me
Pay me

[Rather than Reese, who was busy doing the choreography, it was the back-up singers who sing the pre-chorus. He and his back-up dancers raise their fists up at the sound of trumpets going out while spotlights flash, which would look better in darkness. He then proceeds to sing the final line of the pre-chorus, moving on to the first four lines of the chorus before breaking into dance again for the next eight. The singer stops dancing and starts singing the second verse. During the second part of the second verse, he starts walking down the runway to the front of the stage, staying there for a while before walking back to the wide end of the stage. After finishing the second half of the verse, lights begin to flash again as Reese walks out to the front once more while singing the pre-chorus, showing vocal prowess at the final word as he extends the final word while going higher every second.]

It's hot up in here
DJ don't be scared to run this, run this back
I'm reppin' for the girls who taking over the world
Help me raise a glass for the college grads

41 rollin' to let you know what time it is, check
You can't hold me (you can't hold me)
I work my 9 to 5, better cut my check

This goes out to all the women getting it in
You're on your grind
To other men that respect what I do
Please accept my shine

Boy I know you love it
How we're smart enough to make these millions
Strong enough to bear the children
Then get back to business

See, you better not play me
Oh, come here baby
Hope you still like me
F- you hate me

(My persuasion) Ladies, with our persuasion
(Can build a nation) We can build a nation
(Endless power) Endless power
(With our love we can devour) With our love, we can devour
You'll do anything for me~~~

[He then proceeds to do the familiar empowering choreography of the outro, everytime singing after his back-up singers to help the audience identify his voice. The performance ends with Reese and his back-up dancers saluting to the audience.]

(Who are we?) Who are we?
(What we run?) What we run?
(The world)
Who run this motha? Yeah!
(Who are we?) Who are we?
(What we run?) What we run?
(The world) The world
Who run this motha? GIRLS!
(Who are we?) Who are we?
(What do we run?) What do we run?
(We run the world)
Who run this motha? GIRLS!
(Who are we? What we run? We run the world!)
Who run the world? GIRLS!

[The crowd roars at the mass salute on the stage and salutes back to the performers, as well. After a few moments of ear-piercing applause, Reese spoke once more.]

Reese: Thank you so much for spending your Sunday morning with me, New York City, for all your encouragement and all your support and just being here for the performance. Thank you so much. Love y'all. Gotta run.

[The helicopter flies above Reese and drops the piece of fabric which has been seen earlier, prompting Reese to climb up. The helicopter flies away immediately and Reese hangs on the piece of fabric while waving to the crowd before disappearing out of view.]
