Daisy had been asleep for five days. It was an absolute shit of a hangover that could only have possibly been born from the unholy alliance of Buckfast and super strong cider that she had consumed on Thursday night. "The Jakie's Breakfast" she called it, before she had necked a litre of one and three litres of the other, falling into the sort of coma that would make Sleeping Beauty proud. She had been asleep in a bush, no less, in the garden, more than one of the branches of which had been poking her in ways she was quite sure were illegal. Waking up at last, she realises that her mouth is drier than the proverbial Middle Eastern gentleman's sandal. She pulls herself out of the bush and to her feet, groaning as every slight movement made her head feel like a bingo machine filled with spikes and barbed wire. She rolls around on the floor for a few moments, holding her hands to her head as she cries out in a tone that would surely turn anyone who heard it swiftly to stone. She cries and whimpers for a moment quietly, resisting the temptation to try to hydrate herself by drinking the dew on the grass, before she again stands, using her free arm to hold onto the side of the swimming pool as she contemplates plunging in to sweet death, which would surely be preferable to this absolute monster of a hangover.
After a while, and clearly resembling something out of the Walking Dead, Daisy starts to stumble and groan her way to the house again, looking back only briefly at what was very nearly (or literally, she wasn't yet sure) her bushy shrubby grave. She opens the door and falls in, crying again, before giving up on her legs and pencil rolling her way towards the kitchen slowly. When this leads to her bumping into the door of the fridge, she stops and uses the handle to drag herself to her feet again, looking through bloodshot eyes to find the sink. She makes her way towards it slowly and then turns on the cold tap, sticking her face under it as she drinks as much water as her mouth can handle at any one time. She pulls her face away for a moment, gasping and breathing heavily. "Drink all the water," she moans before sticking her head back under the tap again and drinking even more.
After almost running the tap completely dry, she turns it off and walks over slowly to the couch. Her hair looked like a rather shit bird's nest at the moment, all over the place and filled with leaves and branches as it was, but she didn't care. She just wanted to lay down until the pain was gone from her skull. As she reaches the couch, she collapses onto it and curls up into a little blonde ball. "Shhhhhh," she says to no one at all. The house was still totally empty as everyone was in bed. "Wake me up for school, mum," Daisy then says, before going quiet, laying still to let the hangover pass. |
