Well that's a hard question to answer. Do you want to play bass guitar?

Because if yes I'd say it's worth it. The bass can be an awesome sounding instrument. And pretty much every band needs a bass player too.

Just don't try to sound like Flea, please?

I play (I happily own a Sunburst Fender P-Bass) and it is definately worth the money. I actually found it harder to learn bass than I did guitar (which now bores me, as I have no use for my shitty playing anymore) Because keeping rythm and being on beat all the time is, to me, much harder than writing riffs.

Definately worth the money, if you want a challenge.
Too much leather chair is unsightly and greatly increases your risk of leather-smell.

The shunning I've given mine for the past year, I'd empathize with this statement.

I play bassss!

If you want to be in a band fast, learn bass. Bassists aren't as easy to find as guitarists for instance.

I've played bass for about five years now - as sad as that is [;

I find too many people want to play like Hendrix or whatever, all showy and flash, and guitar is better for that. In some sort of hip rejection of this, I go for clumsy bumbling which is probably worse. I can play bass notes, I can string together basslines, but I can't keep a rhythm, and I lack the patience to learn properly. It's moot anyway because the only reason I'd play bass is for recording, and my bass' output seems horribly low and noisy, thanks Ibanez.

Problem is, it's a five string, and I'm broke.

Play bass, there aren't enough bassists this generation. Too many drummers and guitarists.
Gillians / Alternative Rock
Johnny Young / Vocals & Guitar
Sev Young / Lead Guitar
Fred Johnson / Bass
Vic Dunlop / Drums

If you spell Chuck Norris in Scrabble, you win. Forever.

Not a fan of Ibanez myself either really... I'm very much a Fender man as I like the smooth sound you can get. Can't go wrong with a precision.

But yeah pretty much the only purpose I have my bass for nowadays is accompaniment on recording I do if I desire, or if a friend asks me to fill in because their bassist dropped out of a performance and they need a fill-in.

Yeah, Fenders really are the way to go.

I quite fancy an Ernie Ball bass actually, there's some affiliation with Fender there too, but I can't remember how exactly.

I like some Ibanez basses but I'm a personal fan of ESP, good instruments and I got a free bridge. But like Lewis and Elliot said, can't go wrong with fender basses, the jazz bass is really nice too.

GOOD singers and dancers would be an apt correction.

Though both are scarce round here.

I considered doing AS Dance for a time, but never bothered.
