Today, we're putting worldwide successful pop group GirlSpice on trial - an all pop girl group formed in July 2007 and now consisting of Nadia Berry, Kimberly Gold, Chantal Hayes and Sophia Stellar. Together, they have released 30 singles, plus featuring on other singles from the likes of Stephanie Fierce and Aftershock. Throughout their career, they have released 8 albums in total; 7 studio albums and 1 greatest hits collection. They've had longevity with their career - but is that the only reason they're considered legends? Are GirlSpice pop's biggest manufactured act or are they a group that we should show respect for?

Ever since GirlSpice launched onto the scene with debut single "Mystery", released on 8th August 2007 on Eventual Records; the girls received much buzz from other artists. However, the girls struggled to find chart success until October of that year with the Aftershock-produced "Endless Tears", released on Midnight/Mythic Records which charted at #13 in the UK, their first ever top 40 entry; the song also written by Aftershock. This is a regular pattern with the group's music, none of their singles released thus far in their career have any writing credits from the girls, all of the singles written with the help of producers and highly-respected writers in the industry. Sources claim that the group will be writing for the first time together for their new album - but is it too late to earn credibility after all of these years?

The girls have always been known for elaborate stage shows, as well as for their dancing skills and soft-whispery vocals that flow well with the music that they make... but is it enough? A performance of theirs at a past Birdies show had one song sung live in their set as the girls sat on stools, whilst the other performance was lip-synched as they danced and then proceeded to climb around on a wall, claiming that what they were doing left them "short of breath", is this the type of ability we should be praising? The girls were also slammed by critics for lip-synching a select few of the songs on past tours; lip-synching and no writing credits leads us to think that these girls really are short of talent.

In their career, they've collaborated with Chops, Birds of Madness, Aerospliff, Thunderwolf, Rebel Uprising, Averex, Aftershock, Gillians, Stephanie Fierce and more; GirlSpice are definitely not shy on taking a risk with their music as they collaborated with some of the biggest metal bands seen in the industry back in the day. Is this their own secret way to try and gain some credibility? By showing that they're "fearless" or "daring" for working with others who make music completely opposite to them? Do they think this somehow dismisses their lack of talent and makes them seem better than what they really are... a few girls in a group who look pretty?

Strutting around scantily clad on stage, faking Nadia Berry's death and pretending that they had split to somehow "avoid paparazzi attention" when that would only bring more adds to another long list of things wrong with this group... they are addicted to fame and rely on controversy. The group's only way of hitting the headlines is by these shocking ways that their music could never do for them, past band-mate Shanessa Roberts even shockingly had sex on stage at a festival with her now ex-boyfriend, causing a large amount of complaints to be received; a tacky and cheap way of receiving attention.

To date, GirlSpice have never had a number one single or album and they have been out years longer than most acts who have been stacking up the hits since their arrival... even with the help of others it couldn't be done. Why? Because their music is just not good and the majority of the public can see that. They have always been solely based around sex and that's probably the only thing they'll ever be seen as - sex objects trying to make music... how long is it till they finally give up?

The group are currently 'writing' a new album (something we never thought we'd see) and the source added to us that they are making "firey club anthems", what a surprise from such a gifted and talented group... not. We're expecting lyrics about dancing on a dance floor, downing shots and having sex, pretty much what every record from GirlSpice is about, yawn.

Have your say. GirlSpice - A manufactured group poisoning the young girls of our youth or timeless pop legends who will forever throw out the catchy tunes?

Haters gonna hate, but it still makes me really sad when every girl-dominated group is considered 'fake' or manufactured'. I've never listened to much of your music, so I can't really say whether or not you're talented or not. But, you still seem like really nice girls, and don't deserve people ripping on you like that. There are millions of Girlspice fans who absolutely adore you, so don't let this bother the four of you too badly!

-Eric Quillington

OOC: This was a really enjoyable read; not many people would so thoroughly trash their band.

Kid Anything- Indie/Britpop/Shoegaze; influenced by Sigur Ros, XXYYXX, Kanye West, Blur, Oasis

(Bringing together an eclectic group of influences, Ulysses' songs are sung with carefree abandon by Nick Junk)

Kurt Ulysses - Songwriter, Guitarist, Backup Vocalist
Nick Junk - Vocals, Mojo

Infinite- Alternative/Experimental Rock; influenced by Muse, Radiohead, and The Beatles

(Known best for their experimental music and their frontman's eccentric behavior, the band disbanded after Eric Quillington's death to pursue solo careers or, in Matt Robert's case, peace of mind. Infinite released four albums over the course of their career; Blue Nebula, Midnight Skies, Insomnia, and Dancing about Architecture.)

Eric Quillington (Deceased) - Lead Vocals, Lead Guitar, Piano, Primary Lyricist
Matt Roberts - Bass
Greg Oldson - Drums, Backup Vocals, Secondary Lyricist

"When asked 'how do you write?' I invariably answer, 'one word at a time', and this answer is invariably dismissed. But that's all it is. It sounds too simple to be true, but consider the Great Wall of China, if you will: one stone at a time, man. That's all. One stone at a time. But I've read you can see that motherfucker from space without a telescope."

Stephanie Fierce: Oh you gotta love these damn critics. They make these articles, as if they were 'trying' to figure this information out. This is complete utter bullshit. Girl pop groups sadly always face this criticism. If these critics claim to know a lot about the business, they would know that being in a pop group is not easy and to maintain unity, even after all those years, should be respectable no matter what. Of course, I'm speaking from a business stand point. Pop music should not be taken so seriously just as long as the music is good....for pop fans. Because that's the purpose of pop. However, some artists like to do 'their ow thing' and write their own stuff. That's def fine too.

I opened for Girlspice and these girls are talented ENTERTAINERS. I also worked with GirlSpice, simply for the fact that it was a dream of mine to do so. I wasn't as big at the time, and they were; they could of simply said no. However, they were interested and we made a timeless record. That's what matter.

Erich:elvis presely didnt write songs, neither did sinatra.id consider both those gents talented.and as far as lip snyching? I guess it depends on if they are the ones actually singing on the prerecorded track.

Karoliena: you are just defending them because they are pretty.

Erich: no, i am not! None of them are exactly my type.but since im blinded by penis, what is your take?

Kaoliena: im all for the corruption of youth.also,i myself have used cheap thrills to fill seats.

Ryan Ross Hernandez: "Here is the thing with pop music that most people don't understand. Pop music is the hardest form of music to be able and maintain a career in because it is a market that recording labels build around, and they're always looking for the next big thing that will earn them money. I don't think you can look at a pop artist, or group like GirlSpice and expect to hear the best voices since Sinatra, or the most profound lyrics, or innovate instrumentation. A lot of people forget that pop music is largely built around having strong visual appeal, in music videos, at concerts, just out in public. Every single legendary pop artist have been largely appealing to visuals more so than what you hear. Prince, Madonna, Michael Jackson. Certain pop artists are great entertainers, and that is what GirlSpice is. They are fantastic entertainers, which is not a bad thing at all. If you're shocked that GirlSpice or any other pop artist/entertainer is lip-syncing at their concerts, or not writing their own lyrics and want your money back, life will continue to be hard on you. I find the members of GirlSpice to be more intelligent than what the media portrays them to be. I think they are smart enough to know just what people want to hear and see from them, to maintain their careers afloat and continue to do just that. Anyone can write a number one song, but not everyone can maintain a career. You don't want fucking number one hits when you've been around as long as GirlSpice, or Stephanie Fierce, or myself have been. You want to maintain a career, because in the long run, a career is going to mean a hell of a lot more than a fucking number one song on the radio.

On a side-note, and lighter note at that. If any of the GirlSpice ladies need a shoulder to cry on, or just want to take out any frustration in a sexual matter, you girls can always call me."
