Day 4 Continued

MattY watched as the other two hauled the dead man out of the way and into a corner. He stood in complete shock as his head went over and over the past few minutes again and again. He felt like his head was about to explode - this was too much for him, he couldn't take it anymore.
Zakk called the other two to come round the back because they had sorted everything, there was no need for them to do anything at the front. He went and collected them, and within ten minutes, they were all there, collecting the money from the safe. MattY didn't know what to do, he wasnt sure if he should try to stop them or call someone or just go along with it. He was completely confused about everything.

Minutes seemed to last for hours, and he could see that the other four seemed to be done; they started picking up the bags and MattY did the same. At this moment something caught his eye. It was a button which would notify the police of something going wrong. He made sure that no-one was looking before he quickly opened the case and then pressed down hard on the button. The police station is only 2 minutes down the road so if he stalls them for long enough they can get caught.
Then it hits him, he'll get caught too... At this point, without thinking MattY picks up the closest gun and shoots through two of the bags and hits Zakk's foot. He screams and hits the floor as MattY drops the bags and runs away; the others look bewilldered and in a state of shock as they see MattY disappear around the corner.

MattY could hear gunshots behind him, it seems as though they didn't care about being caught anymore - they just wanted to kill him. He got through the door and closed it, quickly shoving a brick infront of it... Not thinking that it would make much difference, just slow them down a little bit. As MattY rounds another corner he hears the door bang open, but he can't hear anyone following him. Now he disappears into the darknes...

Days 5, 6 and 7

MattY had run all the way back to the hotel, grabbed all of his things and quickly disappeared. Fortunately he didn't bring a lot with him; he didn't need a lot at the Rehabilitation center. Oh the irony, he was supposed to have been going to a rehab center to sort himself out, so instead he goes and joins in a bank robbery... What would Cherise say if she found out? Who knows...
He spent the three days following sleeping rough and sofa surfing. He couldn't be found - bad things would happen if he was found...

On the last day of his 'Rehab' week, he found his way to a friends house; tired and dirty he knocked on the door and waited. A small child opened the door and made a little squeeling noise as the wall of smell hit her. "DADDY!" she shouted and ran off, then out walked a tall pale man. "Matt? Is that you?" he said, grabbing MattY's shoulder; MattY just simply looked up and nodded, before almost collapsing into the house.

MattY woke up three hours later lying on a dirty sofa in a small living room with his friend sat in front of him, "Why didn't you tell me you were coming? And what has happened?"
MattY rubbed his eyes, "Stevie?" MattY's voice cracked, and Stevie passed him a glass of water. He sipped on the water and rubbed his eyes again, he looked down at his hands and saw the dirt that was trapped under his nails; "I didn't know i was coming myself," MattY croaked at Stevie, who just sort of rubbed his little beard.
"What happened to you Matt?" he said, his voice highlighting the seriousness of the state he has been in, "You aren't still on the drugs are you? You are supposed to be at Rehab this week! What has happened?!"
MattY sits up properly and realises that he has trawled so much dirt into Stevie's home, and then he releases all of his troubles to Stevie; all of the problems which have been troubling him flow straight from his lips - it is almost as if he was rapping his troubles he spoke so quickly. 25 minutes later, of continual talking, MattY stopped talking and the two of them sat in silence.
"Right... Matt, if i was you i would just not tell anyone else about this; you have emptied your heart to me and if you need to talk again just come back to me - just dont tell Cherise... She will never forgive you, and you want your baby to have a dad don't you?" MattY nodded and felt his eyes starting to water a little. He has really fucked up this time...

After The Airport

He climbs into the back of the taxi and the driver says, “So back where you came from then?”

MattY shakes his head; “No. I need to sort something out.” He tells him the address and they leave the airport. The driver takes MattY straight back into the middle of the city; it is dark and wet, just the sort of weather that you would expect from London. The taxi pulls up in the middle of a deserted street; the floor is covered in all sorts of rubbish, including used needles and the occasional used condom. MattY shivered as he climbed out of the car. He looks through the front passenger window at the driver who gives him a price for the taxi. MattY hands over a huge wedge of cash and tells the driver to keep the change. He didn't care how much he had given him, MattY was loaded these days. It didn’t matter to him.

The taxi drove away, leaving MattY alone in the dark, dirty street. He walked up to a door and knocked lightly on it. A couple of minutes later, the door opened. And stood there was Joe. He didn't look happy. MattY entered the house and the door was slammed behind him. Joe grabbed the back of MattY's neck and pushes him into a room onto the floor. A dog growls from the corner of the room as it drops its chew toy to look at him, its mouth waters and a drop of its drool hits the floor. MattY slowly gets to his feet and looks Joe straight in the eye. He quickly looks away as he realises that that wasn't his best move - he has practically just challenged Joe's authority in one single movement. Joe grabs him by the throat and slams him into the wall. MattY can't help but let out a whimper of pain. This makes Joe smile, "That hurt did it? Pussy." He dropped MattY, who then slumped to the floor. He rubbed his throat as Joe continued talking to him. "I sent you with them to make sure that our stuff was being used properly, and you were supposed to come back with our share. Instead you shot one of them and did a fucking runner!" MattY has slowly got back to his feet, and Joe quickly punched him in the face, knocking him straight back down.

He lies on the floor whimpering as blood slowly trickles from his nose onto the dirty carpet. “They aren’t happy with me. They are even less happy with you though. They want to kill you.” Joe stops and laughs to himself, “Yes that would be funny.” MattY stops whimpering and looks up at Joe. They share eye contact for a full minute, in which no-one speaks. Then MattY slowly hauls himself up into a sitting position.

“So what are you going to do about this then Joe?” he says, with a bit more spite in his voice than initially intended. Joe moves towards him and then crouches down to be at MattY’s eye level.

“Well you cost me a lot of money, and trust. So I think I might hand over your address. Then they can do whatever they like with you.” He spits in MattY’s face before standing up again. MattY can feel is stomach sink; he knows that this is going to end well for him. Joe grabs MattY’s arm and drags him up. “Now, go.” Then he moves to MattY’s ear and breathes “If I see you round here again, expect a nice, cold present between your ribs.” He opens the door and shoves MattY through it.

He stumbles and falls and sits on the floor for a full minute as a man walks past with a dog. The dog barks at him and pulls on its lead to try and get closer to MattY. But he doesn’t move; surely it would be better for him to just die now. He was going to either way, it made no difference now. MattY eventually clambered to his feet and slid into the darkness of the alleyways that he now calls home…

What Happened At MattY’s House – MattY’s side.

MattY’s eyes were closed, his face was still sore from the bashing he took at Joe’s house only a few days earlier. He rolled over in his large double bed, the light was just coming through the blinds and he could hear the birds outside. His eyes slowly opened and he slowly lifted his body into a sitting position. MattY stretched as he yawned, revealing his naked upper body. He clambered out of his bed in nothing but an old pair of blue boxer shorts. He walked over to the blind and pulled the string; the light blinded him momentarily as he looked out into the street. He smiled as he watched a cat walk across the empty road and jump onto a bin and then over a fence; he wasn’t sure why he was smiling, he just was.

After around twenty minutes of sitting half naked by his window, MattY decided to go and prepare himself for a day at the office. He had taken a much more office based role at Monk On Fire Music more recently, he liked the simplicity of being able to sit in an office and give advice to all of the acts on his label. Stood in the shower, it suddenly hit him how successful he really had been. At sixteen years old, he had released two albums as a solo artist, and owned one of the largest record labels around. He stood there with the hot water pouring down on his back as he smiled at how his life was turning out. He was starting a family too. Wow, so much has happened in the brief sixteen years that he has been on this Earth, a lot good, and a lot bad… very bad. He shakes his head and rolls his shoulders as he snaps back to reality and has his shower properly.

The day at the office is fairly average, he has a chat with a couple of the artists that he has signed; discusses their contracts and all of the technical bits such as when they plan on releasing their album and singles. MattY prides himself in knowing as much about his acts as he can; it all helps to make the label run more smoothly. He has earned himself a lot of respect with the other artists around with how well he has run this label. It has very quickly become a major label and has some of the biggest recording artists around on it. He is incredibly proud of it.

MattY decides to spend a bit longer at the office than usual, ending up being there until about 11 o’clock. He stands in the lobby and gets his phone out. He calls a taxi and waits around for 10 minutes while the taxi finds its way to the label headquarters. He climbs into the back of the taxi and undoes the top button of his shirt – why does he even do it up on days like this? He barely met with anyone. It was just a casual day. The night time in the city is amazing, he thinks to himself as he looks out of the window. It has darkened quite quickly, and the lights of the cars flashing past him make him smile. It has been a good day; nice and relaxed. Nothing to worry about.

The cab pulls up outside of his house and MattY climbs out, paying the driver with about twice as much as the cost actually was. He slowly walks towards his house. All of a sudden the sense of relaxed happiness that he felt in the car drained from him. He was suddenly very cold. MattY stops at the front door and studies the front of the house. He sighs as he finds nothing out of the ordinary, and then fishes around in his pocket for the key.

After a minute or two of fidgeting about, he finds it and enters it into the door. He turns the key slowly, and tries to push open the door. It only moves to about a quarter of the way it should do. MattY pushes again and he can hear the scraping of something along the floor. He puts his arm through the gap in the door to find the light. He slaps at the wall for a couple of seconds until he finally gets the switch. The light flickers on and through the small gap MattY can see his house – or more to the point, the remains of his house.

He shoves the door open with trouble, walks into the hallway closes the door and sinks to the floor. He breathes in and thinks to himself, “Shit. Joe gave them my address. I’m fucked.” His good day had turned into a bad day very quickly.
