Abie: I’m fine, a little bit nervous, but fine.
MTV: Since your breakthrough in the last Total Annihilation Festival, you have become one of the most successful debut singer of the year, how are you dealing with all the success you’re doing right now?
Abie: Everything is just so new and fresh to me, when I’m at a restaurant or a pub, it’s like, people gets near me to say that they love my music, to ask autographs, so everything is been really cool and fun, I could not even imagine the huge success the single did, so for me it’s a wonderful time!
MTV: You first single “Fake Plastic Life” received the platinum status with over 1 million copies sold, you got yourself a deal with one of the most successful record labels of this industry which is Studio60, did they got happy with the results of your music career?
Abie: Totally, actually I was hired by Greg, but Gia also helped me to get the contract. I was so worry about disappoint them, when we released the single, you know, if it failed what would I do? But Gia always believed in me, and I don’t know, but she has the thing for business stuffs, she was so confident that the single would be successful and she was right.
MTV: Talk about this debut album, what is it about?
Abie: I write about my life, about my relationships, my own fears and things, so I can say that this album is really personal to me, I put all my feeling on those songs, and sometimes I keep thinking that people will know the way I felt or feel when they listen to it, this scares me a bit.
MTV: So, your new single “Broke Up!”. Tell us about the inspiration behind this song.
Abie: I wrote it after my ex boyfriend broke up with me, he was a jerk, I don’t know if he is going to watch this interview, hope not, LOL, but he was so cold when he told me that he wanted to broke up with me, it was very terrifying! I suffered a lot after this relationship, so several songs on the record are about this relationship, but you know time has passed and like I said in the song, I’m having my turn now.
MTV: Ladies and Gentleman, Abie Lena!
The PerformanceThe pianist gives the instruction to start the song by saying “One Two Three”, the soul inspired piano tragic melody starts to play, Abie is standing wearing a simple black shirt and a black pants, while she is in front of a recording microphone.
Abie sings the first strophe of the song very softly and calm, she doesn’t have a crowd for her, she is singing in a very intimate way in her own home only for MTV’s people, so she is very calm and confident, her voice for this first strophe is slow and down giving the right harmony for the only piano melody.
I looked at your brown eyes
And I could saw that you’re leaving me
I looked at your tearful eyes
You were so strong to hold your cry
Why has to be this way
My love wasn’t enough for both of usWhile singing the bridge, Abie keeps looking staright to the camerca like she was talking those words for someone else, here she adds an ironic and sadly intonation t her vocals
Bridge
Your voice was shaking but you handle very well
My heart was breaking so slowly just hearing every word
You said straight to me “it is over”When she starts the chorus, the whole room was echoing her amazing high notes, she raises her voice to sing the chorus, while in a very unique style of her own she shakes her hands, just like other divas used to do while they are singing.
Chorus
Don’t bother I’ll be alright
But Oh please baby just don’t you cry
I can live by my own
I’m not young I have grown
It will hurt but then I ‘ll have my turn
It will hurt but then I ‘ll have my turn![UserPostedImage](http://thecomplexmedia.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Adele-Someone-Like-You-live-1024x572.jpg)
Sometimes Abie closes her eyes, so she can feel the real intensity of feeling this song brings to her, as it is a very personal song like she said before, the listeners can see the intense of it in her face and voice. The second strophe is sung just like the first one, Abie goes back to that slow and down singing when she first started the performance.
Remember the times when we passed
In the grass talking about us
Remember when you said to me
You loved me and you won’t leave me…Once more Abie sings the bridge and the chorus of the song, and like before her voice raises incredible at the chorus.
Bridge
Your voice was shaking but you handle very well
My heart was breaking so slowly just hearing every word
You said straight to me “it is over”
Chorus
Don’t bother I’ll be alright
But Oh please baby just don’t you cry
I can live by my own
I’m not young I have grown
It will hurt but then I ‘ll have my turn
It will hurt but then I ‘ll have my turnThe last strophe of the song is like a farewell for her, she is getting the strength she needed to end the relationships and the lyrics she is getting her life back again, so she sings it in a slow and softy way, just like she was talking for the very last time with someone she doesn’t want to see anymore.
And when someday you stop to think
Don’t call me baby don’t be weak
I should have be over you
And you should’ve be over me![UserPostedImage](http://musicasefilmes.com.br/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/mvbthumbs/img_42196_adele-someone-like-you-live-in-her-home.jpg)
The final chorus of the song, ends it in a very strong way, Abie sings it very clearly and high, also she is putting definitely and ending on that situation and finally in the end of the performance she add an “yes” to the last phrase, saying that despite she is ending, she’ll have her turn!
Don’t bother I’ll be alright
But Oh please baby just don’t you cry
I can live by my own
I’m not young I have grown
It will hurt but then I ‘ll have my turn
Yes! It will hurt but then I ‘ll have my turnThe vídeo ends while Abie is smilling to the camera as it goes bluring.
