Vile Hour's debut album was a journey for both members of the group, Nichole Shade and Castor Drake. "We've experienced a lot this year," Nichole says. "We met the Hess clan, we met Act of Hate, we both fell in love... We basically had the perfect cocktail of life experiences to write our first album." Vile Hour is ready to step out of the underground music scene that they have been in for the past few years, and raise up to public recognition. "We're not about selling out or anything like that..." Nichole said with a laugh. "We're just trying to get out music out to the people."

Castor, the band's drummer, had his own set of experiences while making the album. "I met Nina Sangria- which I'm sure you've all heard of- and absolutely fell head over heels for her. I think some long time Vile Hour fans will notice that a lot of the songs have a bit... happier outlook on them, rather than our normal, cynical outlook on life." He chuckled. "We're still the same old Vile Hour, I assure you. But we write what we feel. And it's hard to feel anything else but happiness when you're in love." Although the wedding date is not set yet, Castor Drake and Nina Sangria are living together in Drake's Detroit apartment with Drake's six-year-old daughter, Virginia Drake, currently. They expect to be married by the next year.

The album contains the right amount of angst that Vile Hour has become famous for, but also some softer songs. "We had never written a love song before," Nichole states. "This was... definitely an experience." And thus is Vile Hour's Common Technicalities.

The drums slowly start coming back throughout this, growing until the song starts to sound normal again.

Nichole's voice grows angrier as she begins screaming the lyrics rather than singing them.

She resumes her normal singing voice, but the anger is still there.

The song starts out with immediately, with no lead in. Nichole's voice is the first thing you hear, with a simple beat played by the piano over and over again, her voice moving in a militaristic fashion, never changing as she sings.

Her voice goes up an octive, but keeps on the same pattern of singing.

Her voice drops in octive back to where it started at the beginning of the song, and the piano resumes its simple beat. Castor starts in with the drums, continuing on the same beat Nichole has started with some light taps on the ride cymbal.

The beat changing with Nichole's voice raising once again, but instead of going into a soothing melody, the melody becomes bouncy, finding itself in many minor notes, giving the verse a very dark feeling.

Nichole slides her hands down the piano, and there's a pause, making it seem like the song is over. After a couple of seconds of silence, you hear Nichole giggle, and Castor say, "1, 2, 3, 4..." and the song goes into the lullaby-like melody again, starting the chorus.

Her voice drops into a lower register again,and the simple beat is resumed, but this time she seems angrier than before, almost screaming the lyrics rather than singing them.

Like always, her voice goes up an octive, and her anger seems to become softer.
