"Wow, isn't this something? I could never imagine that today is the day that I'll finally be unveiling the track listing to my debut album "Overload". It's really amazing how everything has turned out from the start of my career till now, and I've seen so many special things and had so many special experiences and this is just the beginning. I never had more fun then recording this entire album and although it took a while it'll pay off because I really think all the Luke Striker fans will fall in love with this, I worked with the best producers in this entire planet and we just created some really deep, fun, sad, happy, whatever you make of it, type of tracks. I still can't believe that next month I'll be releasing an album, it's still certainly fresh to me. I still remember the first day I signed a record deal, the first time I recorded a song. And now, it's done and ready to be released in February, 2013. Please enjoy the artwork and the tracklisting because there is plenty to come about the album before it's release so stay tuned! Thank you for supporting me and being with me from the start."

TRACK 1 - DON'T WALK AWAY

UserPostedImage

Released: 14th October, 2012 [Digital Downloads] | 21st October, 2012 [Airplay]
Recorded: The Village Studios, Los Angeles, California
Genre: Alternative Rock, Pop/Rock, Electronic
Length: 4:06
Label: Studio60 Records
Writer: Luke Striker, Julian Morello
Producer: Switch, Danny Allen

Recording artist Luke Striker emerged last year as the multi-talented, pretty faced Pop/Rock stud who had a sleeper hit on his hands on his independently released the single "Come Back Home Someday". The captivating soft rock jam became such a shocker when it soared to #2 on the Digital Charts, in the beginning of the year opening doors for the artist. Soon after, the "ladies" man went even more viral. Just two months later, after being signed to Studio60 Records Luke Striker got straight to business, releasing his next single "Your Conflicted Heart" which featured vocals from songstress Jennifer Armstrong. The single was a mainstream and radio friendly approach then his earlier releases. Once again, Luke had a hit on his hands as the single became an instant hit topping the radio charts on two separate occasions as well as topping the charts in many countries. If you thought that was it, as Luke began recording his debut album titled "Overload" he released another single entitled "Everybody Wants You". This track also topped the Radio Charts, and was knocked off the following week by his previous release "Your Conflicted Heart" which soared up the chart during that week.

With much success in his hands, Luke Striker was approached to become apart of Miss Vanity's huge Good Mourning Tour for the European dates of the tour. "Big stages, big lights, and big opportunities" was the motto of Luke Striker's before touring and stated many times that he is going to be fully focused on performing each and every night to give his fans their money's worth on and so throughout the months that he was performing on the tour that kicked off in early July and ended in late September. For those months, Luke solely focused on touring with Vanity. He did however, release the single "The Best That I Can Be" which was an inspirational Indie Rock/Alternative tune that reverted back to the earlier releases of Striker making it obvious that he is versatile enough to be successful on the mainstream pop market, but still have a full on niche for his original rock sound. The single also had some success, reaching #5 on the Digital Charts and being certified gold and not becoming as popular as his previous releases, as the song wasn't sent or promoted through radio. Aside from releasing the single to just the Digital Outlets and being nominated for the Fan Choice Awards and appearing there with girlfriend Mercedes Payne, Luke remained quiet for the remainder of the months while he toured. However, he is ready to jump straight back into action.

"Don't Walk Away" is the sixth single taken off of Luke Striker's debut album "Overload". This single takes a considerable turn from his previous work although mixing in all the elements to have a final product, you will understand when you hear the track itself. The song starts off with an eerie buildup of beats that sway in out, like a futuristic ride as it slowly moves across the first 20 seconds of the song. Then out of no where not only does Luke's raspy but power toned appears in on the track along with guitar chords that aid Luke's voice well. He sings with a painful emotion to his voice as he sings the opening lines to the song: So we’re alone again, just another fight| It’s happening every night| Yeah, I’m getting tired| Of the same routine| So let’s not make a scene. Luke sings emotionally about a soul mate who he keeps fighting with. The backing beat then picks up more, sounding like a buildup mixed with drums and the already heard light but quick guitar strums. Luke continues singing with the buildup for the hook, now grieving a potential breakup, he emotionally sings : I’m sat here all alone, just sitting by the phone|Hoping you’re thinking of me, hoping that you’ll just call| But your, so heartless| I can’t resist| I just can’t resist. Luke's voice fades away as the track melts into the chorus which is is heavily influenced by dubstep along with numerous synths aided with a heavy bass giving it a club feeling vibe. The dubstep given in the chorus is quite relaxed and not overly produced giving the chorus quite a relaxing sound. Within the dubstep chorus is captivating drumming that pounds behind giving the chorus's backing beat an amazing rhythm. Luke Striker's voice is very 'striking' for the chorus as his soulful yet quite raspy voice mixes will with the tune giving it a surprising indie twist as he belts out: Don’t walk away|Don’t let your pride win|Don’t give up on me|We’ve been through thick and thin|We could fix this mess|If we hold our heads high|We can get through this|At least we’ve got to try. The lyrics are quite simple but grabs your attention due to the passion Luke is holding when singing the song and though with basic lyrics, it remains honest and very down-to-earth. The chorus then fades away with a very elegant instrumental as the futuristic sounds sway in and out just like the beginning of the song as it builds up to break into the drum, guitar mixture just like verse one, for verse two. Luke continues singing behind the relentless beat: I know, how lucky I have been|I don’t deserve your love|But you always gave it to me|I’ve hurt you too much|But there’s gonna be a change| No more acting strange; Oh, time and time again|I let you feel alone|So I would understand|If you wanna be on your own; As Luke takes guilt in the demise of their relationship. The song then breaks back into the captivating chorus as the wobble base finds its way back to the track as the relaxing yet clubby dubstep beat mixed with drums and Luke's emotional and powerful voice belting the chorus makes the perfect mixture as he sings the song to the song to a powerful ending.

Luke offers us a piece of work that that many can appreciate and relate to due to it's down to earth nature that is simply a love story of a dying relationship that gets to the point in grabbing your attention with the catchy-ness of the track. The song's slow build, matching a flurry of dubstep and live instruments make the song very sensational and make Luke's attempt at his occasional and successful Indie attempts to his first approach at swaying into electronic market has made the concoction quite the success.

So we’re alone again, just another fight
It’s happening every night
Yeah, I’m getting tired
Of the same routine
So let’s not make a scene

I’m sat here all alone, just sitting by the phone
Hoping you’re thinking of me, hoping that you’ll just call
But your, so heartless
I can’t resist
I just can’t resist

Don’t walk away
Don’t let your pride win
Don’t give up on me
We’ve been through thick and thin
We could fix this mess
If we hold our heads high
We can get through this
At least we’ve got to try

I know, how lucky I have been
I don’t deserve your love
But you always gave it to me
I’ve hurt you too much
But there’s gonna be a change
No more acting strange

Oh, time and time again
I let you feel alone
So I would understand
If you wanna be on your own

Don’t walk away
Don’t let your pride win
Don’t give up on me
We’ve been through thick and thin
We could fix this mess
If we hold our heads high
We can get through this
At least we’ve got to try"

TRACK 2 - THE BEST THAT I CAN BE

UserPostedImage

Luke Striker, the North Carolina born singer who links the likes of Ryan Ross Hernandez, Misery Loves Company and Reported Failure as some of his inspirations has been trying desperately to break into the music industry for almost 4 years and finally got his big break, in 2012.

After releasing a track called "Sorry Again" as his debut single, this young, handsome and very talented "ladies man" went viral. This however, still didn't get the attention of any labels that were around at the time. Fine, that's not a problem as independently Luke Striker released his next single off of his upcoming album, a song called "Come Back Home Someday" a slow and captivating soft rock jam that sprung all the way up the Digital Charts at a shocking #2 and even managed to break into the radio charts and once again Luke was behind the mind of every female digging his look, or every man who could relate to his tales of heart break. And finally, he was contacted by Studio 60 to sign a record deal. And that's where this proclaimed "Striker Domination" has started.

Months after the release of "Come Back Home Someday", it was important to Luke not to become a one hit wonder and although not nervous about it, it must always be at the back of ones mind when they are signed to a label and so much is actually expected out of them. "Your Conflicted Heart" which features vocals from songstress Jennifer Armstrong took a more mainstream and radio friendly approach mixing in aggressive guitar chords, emotional vocals and a harmonious backing beat, became an instant hit topping the radio charts on two separate occasions as well as topping the charts in many countries, becoming his most successful single to date.

He didn't stop there however, his single "Everybody Wants You" came after, and once again, topped the Radio Charts two weeks ago, and was knocked off this week, by his OWN single in "Your Conflicted Heart" as it rose up spots and ultimately knocked "Everybody Wants You to the #2 spot, is this history being made?

"The Best That I Can Be" is nothing less than an inspiration, slow paced and beautifully harmonizing track that jumps back to the early days of Luke Striker. The song may be linked and compared to his earlier songs in "Sorry Again" and "Come Back Home Someday", that actually gives us a sigh of relief, making us realize that the mainstream in Luke, has NOT completely taken over him. But also shines and sits comfortably in the more Indie/Alternative market and sound, showing us just how versatile Luke is. Check out his quote from months ago:

Luke Striker wrote:
I'm just really excited for it. I have been recording non stop and I just cannot wait to release it. Because I think it's an incredible album. I don't want people to think I'm one dimensional and will only stick to the soft rock and alternative stuff, but I also wanted to explore into pop rock, take a look at Come Back Home Someday, and Your Conflicted Heart. They're two different types of songs, with similar topics but for two different purposes, with Your Conflicted Heart being more for radio. With this album, I want people to not be fed the same thing, I want it to be an enjoyable listen, not a boring one so the ones who were there from the beginning and loved my debut track in Sorry Again, as well as Come Back Home Someday wont be let down and the ones who love Your Conflicted Heart will also enjoy the album. I must say, I'm really surprised with not only how amazing and incredible things have been, but I'm surprised in how well the album actually turned out and I'm really, really excited for people to hear it. It's done, just a few more things to be recorded and I think where ready to go.

The track features slow electric guitar chords that sprinkle throughout the delicate nature of the track, aided with lightly tapping drums. Luke lays his vocals to the track and it mixes perfectly. Luke slowly rides through the song, singing about him striving to be the best that he could be. "I'm a small town boy from Jacksonville| Tryin' to make it up this hill". He coos out singing about his transition from a small town boy trying to make it up the "hill". We don't wait to ramble on, so take a listen for yourself and tell us what you think about Luke's "The Best That I Can Be". It keeps getting better and better as you listen, give it a go. Listen below!

Quit whilst you're ahead. That's what they all seem to say
I don't think they understand how much this means to me
Spent so much time getting to where I am, why surrender and put down my arms?
Battled the barriers, still fighting the wars and ready to take on a whole lot more
Sick and tired of what people have to say, gonna clear the road, so I can make my way

I've been down, I've been down but I'm used to being hurt
I've been low, I've been low but I always get right back up
Give me your worst

I'm a small town boy from Jacksonville, trying to make it up this hill
I don't wanna look behind, I just focus on the climb, forget about the dangerous fall
One day, I will get there, reach the top and take in the air
It's a long hard road but I can take what life throws at me
I just get by being the best that I can be

You can't do it, you're so foolish. Why can't they change the record?
So I'm gonna prove it, I'm gonna make it, show them that I cannot be bettered
They try to derail me, shake me, make my life a total misery
Brush them off and play it cool, not gonna let them tell me what to do
I thank you for the harsh words, they made me stronger in every way

I've been hurt, I've been hurt but I just carry on
Just look up, just look up I'm never gonna come down
Give me your worst

I'm a small town boy from Jacksonville, trying to make it up this hill
I don't wanna look behind, I just focus on the climb, forget about the dangerous fall
One day, I will get there, reach the top and take in the air
It's a long hard road but I can take what life throws at me
I just get by being the best that I can be

One thing you all seem to forget
Is that I've kept on going, haven't gave up yet
With all the thrown in my way, I've lived to tell another day
There's an easy path that I can take
But I'm gonna try hard, it'll be worth the wait
Sometimes it gets a little tough but I love the fight, can't get enough
I'm getting by just being me, being the best that I can be

I'm a small town boy from Jacksonville, trying to make it up this hill
I don't wanna look behind, I just focus on the climb, forget about the dangerous fall
One day, I will get there, reach the top and take in the air
It's a long hard road but I can take what life throws at me
I just get by being the best that I can be

TRACK 3 - YOUR CONFLICTED HEART (FT. JENNIFER ARMSTRONG)

UserPostedImage

'Your Conflicted Heart' is the third track on Luke's debut album 'Overload'. The track is probably the handsome singer's signature song as it peaked at No.1 on two occasions in early 2012. The song features the extremely talented and beautiful songstress, Jennifer Armstrong and is noted for being the most commercial sounding of Luke's singles to date. The song discusses the issue of heartbreak but a very complicated one. The story of the song is about a girl breaking a guys heart yet he still wants her back. That's not all. The girl is sorry for what she has but although the guy loves her he still can't forget what happened meaning things will never be the same between them again. Confused? Well nobody would blame you at all. Listen to the smash hit of a track and hopefully things will be a lot clearer. This was the single that propelled Mr Striker into superstardom and was his first ever number one single. 'Your Conflicted Heart' is deemed as one of the album's highlights and is a standout track from 2012. This is what Luke said about the track at the time of its release in March 2012.

Luke Striker wrote:
Wow its surprising that I'm already releasing my second single. The success that my previous single was unbelievable, really? #2!!!? The fact that I'm pretty nervous because I don't think I can ever achieve that again just kills me :x, but its not all about success, its about the music. I also had the chance to work with my boy Dominic Brown on his track 'Cant Love You' which also did really well. So I'm just so excited to get my new single out. Your Conflicted Heart is the next track from my upcoming studio album which features the beautiful Jennifer Armstrong. I really love this track and it could probably relate to a lot of people. Ever had a girl break your heart to pieces? You know you still want her back, she's saying sorry but you still can't forget about what she did, and things just aren't going to work between you guys? I know it sounds pretty complicated and all but after you listen to the track I'm sure you will have a better understanding of the song. The track is pretty midtempo and has some really high and strong points, I'm playing the guitar and singing as Jen and I go back and forth. It's a captivating pop rock track and I'm really proud of the way it turned out. I hope everyone feels the same and once again, enjoy the track and thank you all for getting me here.

Bold – Luke Vocals
Normal – Jennifer Vocals

It was going great until that awful day
When you told me that your heart was conflicted
But I always knew that my love for you was strong
I felt like only our love existed
There’s no one that I loved quite like you
But you told me you were in love with someone else too

I used to think one day we’d be old and grey
Holding each other’s hand as we walk alone in the night
I used to think that we’d end up together
But I shouldn’t have let you out of my sight
Things quickly start to change over time
I guess I thought you would always be mine

I’m sorry for the pain that I put you through
You didn’t deserve it because there’s no one quite like you
I wish I could go back and change the past
Well maybe we could fix this mess someday
To the point where it can be just you and me

We could change the future I hope you agree
But baby we can’t rewrite our history

Your conflicted heart tore us apart
And left me feeling broken
Your conflicted heart tore us apart
When those words were spoken
Your conflicted heart opened up those wounds
And now they need healing
Your conflicted heart tore us apart
We’re both alone staring at the ceiling

My conflicted heart had to make me choose
Which boy that I had to lose
My conflicted heart was too young to see
Which one was perfect for me
My conflicted heart felt too ashamed
When you left me standing in the pouring rain
When you went away all I could ever see
Was your face staring back at me

Well I’m sorry for all the things I lack
I wish that I could just take you back
I wish I never hurt you so
I wish I never let you go
I wish I could make you see
I wish you only ever loved me
I wish we could go back to the start
I wish you never had a conflicted heart

Sounds Like

TRACK 4 - I NEED SOMEBODY

UserPostedImage
Artist: Luke Striker
Title: I Need Somebody
Length: 3:41
Genre: Acoustic Pop
Written By: L.Striker
From The Album: Overload

Luke Striker wrote:
"I would say that this is probably the oddball of the album. It's very simple in structure and composition but because my album has a very gritty pop/rock for the most part, this simple and relaxed sounding acoustic track throws people off but it really fits in with the whole theme of the album which is basically love and heartbreak. It was one of the first songs I recorded when working on the album. I actually write all of my songs in an acoustic way to start off with because when I perform I prefer to perform acoustic versions of some tracks as I think they hold a lot more meaning and emotion in them and I just love to sing them. So after the original acoustic version of the track is done it then gets produced, reworked and reshaped into an actual pop or soft rock track. However with this one, no matte how many times we tried to add in effects and produce it for the inclusion on the album, nothing was sounding as good as the original acoustic version so I decided to just keep it as it is. It's very raw and there's a slight difference in my voice as it was recorded like 2 years ago and there are no vocal effects on it. The song is very stripped back and naked even, it's just a song in its most basic form. Another thing that stands out about the track is the very high 'oooohs' towards the end which did hurt my voice back then and does it even more so now. It's hard for a guy, even singers, to do that but I think it came off quite well in the end."

Used to say that I loved you, it was so true
I gave you everything you could ever have dreamed of
But it was just a one way thing, I was a play thing
Little missy, forget you, now we're through

Always thought I found that perfect someone in you, oh baby
Never cared about someone as much as I did with you, my lady
Then I heard through the grapevine, you've been sneaking around a lot lately
Saw with my own eyes that I'm not your one and only, made me crazy

Baby stop right there, just walk away
I don't have time to be messed with again
Oh girl, please not today
I've had it up to here with heartbreak

Discovered that you stole my card and bought yourself a treat, you must be happy
Then I hear a message that wasn't meant for me explaining it all, oh so clearly
Getting hurt in love is all that I seem to know anymore, somebody save me
Don't wanna hear you out, no longer messing about, girl I'm not you baby

Used to say that I loved you, it was so true
I gave you everything you could ever have dreamed of
But it was just a one way thing, I was a play thing
Little missy, forget you, now we're through
I need somebody who I can trust
I need somebody who always stays true
I need somebody new to love
I need somebody who, I need somebody who,
I need somebody, somebody, somebody who is nothing like you

Ever stop to think that others have feelings too?, Didn't think so
Been played for so long, feels like I'm still stuck in the game, it's hard to let go
Why did I fall for you and let you play me like a fool?, I just don't know
You can go and bat your lashes to the other guys as long as you want to

Baby stop right there, just walk away
I don't have time to be messed with again
Oh girl, please not today
I've had it up to here with heartbreak

Used to say that I loved you, it was so true
I gave you everything you could ever have dreamed of
But it was just a one way thing, I was a play thing
Little missy, forget you, now we're through
I need somebody who I can trust
I need somebody who always stays true
I need somebody new to love
I need somebody who, I need somebody who,
I need somebody, somebody, somebody who is nothing like you

Used to say that I loved you, it was so true
I gave you everything you could ever have dreamed of
But it was just a one way thing, I was a play thing
Little missy, forget you, now we're through
I need somebody who I can trust
I need somebody who always stays true
I need somebody new to love
I need somebody who, I need somebody who,
I need somebody, somebody, somebody who is nothing like you

Oooooooh, oooh oooh
Oooh, oooh, oooh, ooooooh
Nothing like you oooh, oooh, oooh, ooooh

Used to say that I loved you, it was so true
I gave you everything you could ever have dreamed of
But it was just a one way thing, I was a play thing
Little missy, forget you, now we're through

Oooooooh, oooh oooh
Oooh, oooh, oooh, ooooooh
Oooooooh, oooh oooh
Oooh, oooh, oooh, ooooooh

TRACK 5 - ON MY OWN (FT. DENEIL KHAN)

UserPostedImage
Artist: Luke Striker & Deneil Khan
Title: On My Own
Length: 3:49
Genre: R&B
Written By: E.Donaghy, C.Healy, D.Khan, L.Striker
From The Album: Overload

Luke Striker wrote:
This track fits in with the sort of 'different' section of the album just like the previous track 'I Need Somebody'. This is a slow, R&B ballad type track and it features a laid back rap from Deneil Khan who is Billy Khan's younger brother. I just felt like this track just had to be included on the album as I think it's probably the song that takes the theme of heartbreak to its very extreme, death. There's a lot of 'love' songs that are all happy and talk about how a girl makes me feel on top of the world and all that good stuff, I love those tracks but I think they are mainly just for entertainment and the heartbreak songs are there to maybe help people going through similar situations whereas this track is very dark. It talks about suicide and the death of your partner. I'm not promoting suicide in any way shape or form but unfortunately people do feel like that at times and I know it's all doom and gloom but it's life and shit like that happens all the time. This is definitely the darkest song I've ever recorded and although I've never experienced the situation in the song, I know someone who has and I was surrounded by that person for quite a while. Obviously, I was pulled into their situation as you can't just ignore them and let them you know.....'end it all'. I wrote this track to try to figure out how they see things and the end result was a very deep track. I looked over the lyrics and could totally sympathize with the person I wrote it about. Thankfully, they are OK now. 'On My Own', like I said, features Deneil Khan. I would say that he gave the song a real edge and took it to another level. The verse I wrote were more about feeling sorry for yourself but when I sent the track to Deneil and let him do his thing, he returned it with a sort of angry and pissed off verse which I think really escalated the track. My verses are more about the sadness and depression then Deneil comes in and just eventually goes over the edge. It's probably one of my favorites on the entire album and shows a different side to me.

LUKE
DENEIL
LUKE SINGING CHORUS

Used to live our lives like kings and queens
Everything was perfect, we shared our hopes and dreams
We were meant to be, so clear to see, now suddenly you're torn from me
Hand in hand until the day we parted, gone too soon, left brokenhearted
Enjoy your sleep, don't forget I love you, no need to worry babe I'll be with you soon

All I know is falling
All I love is crumbling
They keep on telling me to stay strong
But without you, I can't go on

The day we're no longer one, is when I come undone
Keep replaying our favourite song, in hope that I hear you sing along
Nothing here for me anymore, nothing matters now that I'm on my
Oh-uh-ah-oh-uh-ah-oh-own
Oh-uh-ah-oh-uh-ah-oh-own
Oh-uh-ah-oh-uh-ah-oh-own
I can't do this all a-
lo-uh-ah-oh-uh-ah-oh-one
lo-uh-ah-oh-uh-ah-oh-one
lo-uh-ah-oh-uh-ah-oh-one
Nothing matters now that I'm on my own

I can't even imagine being with someone else, I'd only be lying to her and myself
What we had was snatched so quickly, there's unfinished business between you and me
So what am I to do? Go find a substitute? No one in the world could ever fill your shoes
You took everything and made it perfect no that you're gone nothing's worth it

All I know is falling
All I love is crumbling
They keep on telling me to stay strong
But without you, I can't go on

The day we're no longer one, is when I come undone
Keep replaying our favourite song, in hope that I hear you sing along
Nothing here for me anymore, nothing matters now that I'm on my
Oh-uh-ah-oh-uh-ah-oh-own
Oh-uh-ah-oh-uh-ah-oh-own
Oh-uh-ah-oh-uh-ah-oh-own
I can't do this all a-
lo-uh-ah-oh-uh-ah-oh-one
lo-uh-ah-oh-uh-ah-oh-one
lo-uh-ah-oh-uh-ah-oh-one
Nothing matters now that I'm on my own

So glad that you're in a better place but I'd sell my soul just to see your face
I don't why things had to end like this, be like this, all I ask for is one last kiss
Oh, selling millions upon millions won't make me as happy as you did, girl you were on in a million
I should have taken a mental picture to remember the last happy time that I was with ya
Now it's gone now, it's all f****d up, I thought nothing would ever come between us
Yeah, guess I didn't count on this, feels like the big man upstairs is taking the p***
Oh, you were out of this world so you belong among the stars, look right up I know exactly were you are
Just hang on, I won't take too long, I'll soon be there cause I can't do this on my own

The day we're no longer one, is when I come undone
Keep replaying our favourite song, in hope that I hear you sing along
Nothing here for me anymore, nothing matters now that I'm on my
Oh-uh-ah-oh-uh-ah-oh-own
Oh-uh-ah-oh-uh-ah-oh-own
Oh-uh-ah-oh-uh-ah-oh-own
I can't do this all a-
lo-uh-ah-oh-uh-ah-oh-one
lo-uh-ah-oh-uh-ah-oh-one
lo-uh-ah-oh-uh-ah-oh-one
Nothing matters now that I'm on my own

Babe, I'm coming home
