Honor, Fashion, Music
Honor Wynter is an American model, blogger, music critic, and fashion designer. She was born on August 25th, 1992 in Las Vegas, NV. She's the oldest of 2 brothers, Roscoe (21) and Marshall (19). Her father was a male model and art collector and so was her step mother which only meant Honor would inherit the good looks and boiling modeling blood. She was first discovered when she was 16 as she started doing small photo shoots and commercials. She was also involved in a lot of fashion ads for companies like Hot Topic. Wynter started to also make her own blogs that were based on fashion and music critique and gained a lot of attention on the internet. By the age of 17, Honor moved to Los Angeles in pursuit of a bigger modeling career, with some close friends. Honor has also worked on her own fashion by working with different companies in the hopes of becoming a huge fashion designer. She has a passion for music and everything that comes with it and considers herself to be one of the most well rounded music lovers.

Honor prides herself on her unique sense of fashion and style. Some would describe her as a typical Scene person but she prefers not to label herself at all. She models her clothing after the type she would wear every day, lots of different colors and styles. She recently signed a deal with BCStyle to feature in their ads and also to be in the upcoming fashion show. She hopes to also partner with them in releasing her own fashion line. For now, the 21 year old continues to blog, model, and critique music as her way of life. She is making her way through the modeling industry as a free agent, hoping to get signed to a modeling company. Now she has managed to find peace with blogging as well as modeling but her main passion is modeling. She had recently been featured in 'Maxim's' list of 100 women of the year, ranking in at #32 and got her own pages in the magazine which really gave her the attention she needed. She's currently working with 'Lolli Swimwear' and 'KISS Clothing' for her own clothing lines and was named Culture Uncut's favorite blogger of 2013.

This Week In Reviews

'Diary Of An Escort'
This week was the week of some amazing releases, and while I cannot possibly review everything that came out, I'll try my best to get to the ones that really caught my attention. All reviews are my opinion so if you don't like it, no one's forcing you to read it or accept it! Now, I'm gonna start with something non related to music; a television show. Now, now you guys I don't discriminate at all. If something needs reviewing, well I'm the gal to do it! Just a few days ago, the world witnessed a different side of Riley Hamilton from the ever so famous Weekend. They may or may not be a group anymore but that doesn't mean any of them won't be doing their own thing, specifically Riley. He wowed and surprised a few people or maybe everyone, with his performance in his new t.v. series, Diary Of An Escort. We finally got a taste of controversial and not so sweet Hamilton which is a major turn from the innocent, everyone should go green and not eat meat guy we've come to know. I watched the first episode and let me tell you I was really impressed. It was not for the sensitive or uptight. It almost reminded me of something you would see or HBO or Cinemax, something trashy yet classy, well let's be honest, there's not many trashy and classy shows out there to begin with.

We're already drawn in by the main character's attitude as he introduces himself as Patrick Lewis. It's like right off the bat you're sitting in your pajamas, drinking some tea and then bam! There's a cute guy on your screen telling you that he is a hero but not a baby saving, helping grandma cross the street hero, no, no, he sleeps with people for money, a male escort. So then you listen and look at your life, reflecting over the things you've accomplished. Compared to this guy, you're a door knob and he's already sucked you in for the show. Now, you hear the word escort and you're probably going, 'Hmm, this show is going to be about nothing but sex right?' and you would almost be correct! Admit it, he's part of a boy band and he's always doing good, you WANT to see him play a bad boy. He's a male hooker and you know you love it.

Then we get to some juicy details; he has a girlfriend, mind you he's using the money he receives from sex to buy her gifts. There's no telling what he had to do in order to get that new jacket she has, and his life is kept a secret from his parents, who he goes on about not being able to live up to his expensive tastes. So far you're not sure if you like him or if you think he's a jerk but half the women don't care and are already waiting for the first sex scene. I almost forgot to mention the whole 'talking to the audience' thing. I confess, I always find shows more interesting when that happens. It's like he knows we're watching and he's gonna take us along for the sex-filled ride, and I'm waiting for the moment when he's in mid orgasm and his head turns to us to explain his feelings and thoughts. THAT would earn him an 'A+' in my book.

Now we get to some of the other characters, which they are some characters, like Ms. Cherry. First of all, I'm not gonna lie, Ms. Cherry is a very stripper/prostitute like name. I would have preferred something exotic like...'Electra' or 'Funbagz', I don't know, my imagination went wild on this show before it even came out, but I was not expecting 'Cherry Popping Escort Agency' my god Riley, have some decency! There are children sneaking up to watch this show. It's almost like a porno mixed with The Sopranos. You've got the mob boss, Ms. Cherry, giving out orders and you half expect some hit men to be hiding in the background for her. Then you have Leanne, the materialistic chick, Leon, yum, that typical foreign guy who can't speak good English but you don't care because it sounds so cute.

Finally, the sex scene everyone's been waiting for. Don't lie, you're only watching because you want to see Riley in as many sex scenes as they'll allow! So Patrick reveals his nickname, business name, whatever you want to call it, 'Valentine'. Super cheesy yet what else would you expect? I don't think 'Funbagz' would work well with him anyway. I would rate that scene, on a scale of 1-10, an 8. I wasn't expecting to see him all nude of course, that might have boosted his ratings, but again it was classy and sexy. No, I didn't DVR this show and rewind it to see it over and over again, someone did though, not me. Ahem, overall the show was not what I was expecting. Somehow, I feel like it was the perfect amount of drama and passion. You get the feeling that he has a cocky attitude yet he still cares about one girl above all the others. Will he ever tell her? Will she ever find out? Will she stay with him? Will he accidentally allow her to come over while in bed with another chick and then she joins in for a threesome? Only time well tell. It didn't seem rushed and there was a story behind it. I for one will be tuning in to see this show every time it comes on. Based on the loveable, innocent guy Riley Hamilton is, this is the perfect thing to boost his popularity. He's proved he can be cute and provocative and my predictions are this show will keep you talking.

Vara Gallo - HOES AND BITCHES Album
Varanese or Vara Gallo is another noob to the industry we call music. Somehow she is dubbed the 'Italian Queen of Electronica'. I've honestly never heard of her before I listened to her album but I suppose Italy loves her. First off, there's 7 tracks on the album. I don't know about you guys but if I'm paying for an album with only 7 tracks, there better be some damn good music on there or I'll be pissed. I mean this should have been an EP but let's just slap the word album on it to make it look good. She comes off with a bitchy attitude and she looks like she could care less about anyone else but herself. I think she's full of herself but hey, she could be good.

UserPostedImage

'Grown Up and Left Me Behind'
Alright first track, I'm completely caught off guard. I'm a HUGE fan of industrial music so I thought it was a nice change that there was some in the industry today. Although it's a quick song, it's a good one. The lyrics are simple but I think the scream is what did it for me. You get the feeling that you're underwater or drowning but then you're suddenly raised back up so you can sing about being left behind. I'm not sure what the song is supposed to represent, maybe she's screaming about being left behind, that's one obvious way of looking at it. It's the beginning of the album and I would think that's the most important part, that and the ending. What exactly will she do on this album to make me not press the 'stop' button, take the album out and throw it onto the nearest freeway?
2/5

'Understanding'
The next track is just as shocking as the first one. It's acapella for the most part. She uses her voice as her own tool so we can hear it without all of the other crap. She actually has a nice voice so that's definitely a plus sign. Even when she adds in the electronica beat, the song doesn't completely take over her voice and it's actually catchy. You get the image of Vara sitting in some kind of forest and singing to the sky while unicorns start floating around, yeah the high effect. The song made me feel like I had smoked a pound of weed, but in a good way. It was relaxing and calming. I would say this could be a potential single for the future. The track was a good attempt at making something new and much needed in the industry.
3/5

'I Don't Know Yet'
Another short song. I'm starting to see a pattern here. The lyrics are quite unaverage but then again this entire album is nothing short of average. Vara seems to stay in her comfort zone by using her light vocals with crazy lyrics. Gallo's attitude is apparent in this song, she seems sad about something, we don't know yet either, but at the end of the song she finally realizes what it is. I sort of wished she would have shared it with the rest of the world but that's the beauty of songwriting right? It can be mysterious and keep everyone guessing. I'm not sure if I would have chosen this as a first single, maybe a 3rd or 4th but definitely not the stand out track for commercial success. Once again, Vara proves she's not just a pretty face, but still I haven't been wowed yet.
3/5

'Not Too Hard'
This is one of the standout tracks I'm talking about! Single potential to me, but who would take my advice? I'm just one voice. Anyway, the song is quite monotone and dreery but it fits with her voice in this case. You almost expect her to go all psycho in this but she remains calm through it all. The beat speeds up at various moments of the song but she doesn't change her tune. Gallo's voice is quite strong on the album, which makes me wonder if we could all be wrong about her. I mean, maybe she could become the next big thing? I could see if she didn't have the voice to back it up but so far, not a note has been out of place. The lyrics have been consistently weird and eye opening but other than that, still waiting for that 'wow this is an amazing album' factor.
4/5

'Don't Think So'
One of the most upbeat songs in my opinion on this album. When you listen, you'll probably think about being in a dark club with neon lights and crack plus ecstasy going around. When she starts singing, I feel something. I feel like maybe this is the turning point for the album, the 'wow' factor might be coming into play now. She has maintained her attitude throughout the album which is kind of good but you almost hope for a different tone in one of the songs. It seems that her favorite word is 'Fuck you' still not sure who she's speaking to, maybe the whole album is about an old flame? This is another standout track because it's significantly different than the previous tracks I listened to, some progress seems to be being made.
4/5

'Think You Meant It'
This has to be my favorite track on the album! I love the beat and even the simple lyrics. The beat reminds you of an old school video game which is similar to the same technique that Isabel used on her album with Fell From Grace but completely different. Gallo's voice is calming and soothing, but you enjoy it and want more of it. I definitely would have this song on my iPod or I'd even buy the album just for this track on it's own. It's different from what's being heard in the industry today. My advice? This should definitely be a single, possibly the next single from the album. It's unique and has a lot of feeling to it but at the same time there's some kind of atmosphere that captivates you. It almost makes you wonder how the title of the album fits in with this type of sound, but the girl is creative and special in her own way.
5/5

'Full Of Shit'
Ahh, the ending of the album. We've seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. Well, not so much ugly but we've heard some amazing songs and some not so much but that's the amazing thing about albums. People will still buy it even if there's just 1 good song on it. So I picture this song in my head and I'm seeing some bad ass scene with Vara sitting in a chair, hair all wild, and totally looking sexy while singing this song. It sounds kind of creepy, the type of song that would be playing in some sort of dark, disturbing movie, almost belongs on the Queen of the Damned soundtrack. I'm actually not too displeased with this track. It's a great way to end a very....let's say one of a kind compilation of tracks.
4/5

Overall, the album was not a letdown but it wasn't as great as some would have expected. Vara may have a future in this business and if she continues down the musical road that she's been going down, she could be a breakout star by the end of this year or not. Chances are she'll get overlooked by some mainstream pop song or maybe a one hit wonder. At any rate, I can't downplay her work and she seems like a cool chick. It may not be album of the year but it's suitable for album of the day. Even though there's only 7 tracks, I think it's worth buying however, you should probably just buy single tracks and not the entire album. Some songs are better than others and probably wouldn't be worth the money.

CHAOS AWARDS VII FASHION: BEST & WORST DRESSED
Awards night was last night! You know what that means? No, not who won and who performed but what they wore and how they looked! Yes, there were some amazing fashion statements. I watched the show just to analyze the red carpet and I was impressed and also disappointed! I put a quick list together of who made my 'Best Dressed' and who made my 'Worst Dressed' so maybe next time they can do better!

Best Dressed
Serenity Scott - Loved, Loved, LOVED her Japanese inspired style, she looked so beautiful and adorable. The pink hair complimented her look as well, you know I have a soft spot for anything Japanese!

Suzie - I know, I'm shocked too! But the Swedish singer actually kept it kind of classy and cute. She wasn't looking like a stripper as usual and I loved her accessories including her cute hat and bag. Even her hair fit right in with the ensemble. Let's hope she keeps it up!

Mykaylah - She kept it simple yet cute. Her white dress with silver embroidered along the edges of it and a simple hair style just swept to the side. The crazy girl seemed to have kept it down for the night and it worked in her favor.

Isabel - The cute 20 year old who still looks like she's about 15 wore a similar style to Mykaylah, meaning simple. That seemed to be one of the themes for the awards. She was wearing a cute pink dress with hardly any accessories except a simple gold bracelet. She looks good in just about anything though so not surprised!

Jennifer Armstrong - She kept it classy with her sexy purple dress. She was practically glowing on the red carpet that night and looked like a beautiful princess. She too was also keeping it simple with just enough accessories to not overcrowd her outfit.

Andrea Khan - She looked so beautiful on the red carpet! That post baby body looks super sexy and so did her dress. Long and flowy was the way to go. Even though she didn't have her star hubby on her arm, she shined bright by herself.

Daniel - One of the few guys who actually looked super handsome for the awards. His hair, I'm in love, and his style is just amazing. I'm happy he followed the dress code by being the best dressed male there!

Vanity - She went for it! Her dress leaves nothing to the imagination because you can almost see her vagina but who doesn't want to see that? She took a fashion risk and made it her style which I love. Don't be afraid to really grab your dress by the balls! Her hair and make up looks stunning and I'm already a fan!

Kourtney - Cute and friendly for her first awards show, she definitely amazed me. Sparkles and shine all over the place! Good job, next time you should really go for it ;)

Worst Dressed
Sara Daniels - It was a nice attempt but she looked totally disheveled and like she didn't even try. Maybe next year?

Nevaeh Martinez - I love velvet but this green velvet dress looks like it was made from a Christmas tree wrap! It was definitely not fit for her curvaceous figure, maybe something a little....fitting?

Layla Raine - Almost good but not quite! Maybe a different color? Different wig? I don't know but it wasn't clicking for me. Another sad attempt at being different.

Anna Villiot - Biker chick gone wrong! Ugh, what did she think this, a greaser tryout? No ma'am, you have to do MUCH better than that at the next awards. Maybe if there was a cute dress on underneath you could have been redeemed.

Tisha Jackson - I almost felt like you should have went bare chest because I mean we saw it all anyway. Maybe, just maybe it would have been cuter if I didn't see your tits and the dress was cute. It was actually the color. I'm suggesting maybe red or....blue!

Stephanie Fierce - Again, different color, would have been outstanding. White does not fit everyone ladies! The hair was on point of course but a different color, maybe something vibrant.

Radio Vine - I think she walked out of her bed and just came as is. I'm not too sure about the outfit, looks like she's modeling for Victoria's Secret except the secret is that she didn't make the cut. I'm sorry, stick to singing because clothes are not your strong suit.

Hard Sugar - Not sure what the theme was but I'm gonna go with.....'Tacky?' Not in the good way, just the tacky way. As a group, you guys would do better if your outfits collaborated with each other instead of trying to see who could wear the ugliest outfit. Sorry girls, better luck at the next awards!

Well that's all I have for you guys :) That's for reading and I'll be back for more! Stay sexy and crazy.

OOC: First time reviewing for others so I hope it was okay lol, reminder all of this was IC, nothing personal :) Thanks for reading!

OOC: All in character. No offence intended.

Andros Angelakos: "NoH8 is a charitable organization that was founded as a way to promote gender equality, among other issues." All I knew about this girl prior to reading this blog was that she was an advocate for the NOH8 campaign, which I will admit I had to Google to find out what it was. I'm amused though. Not at the content of your blog, which has all the prowess and artistic execution of a Tourettes kid with a blank canvas and a mouthful of paint, but at how steeped in irony and absolute hypocrisy you are.

How ironic it is that you promote gender equality, and then in your first sizeable contribution to the world you produce the most sexist pile of drivel I have ever had the misfortune to lay my eyes on. I mean sure, you tell me I don't have to read or accept the fact that this is your opinion. But let's be honest, you're reviewing one of the biggest events of the year, and a show starring one of the members of a band that is everywhere (and deservedly so), so I'm going to give it the ole' once over. Let me put my own disclaimer here: These are my own opinions, and while you don't have to read them, I sure as hell hope you do.

Shall we start with the Chaos Awards review? Let's, seeing as how I spent the majority of my Saturday night there and very much enjoyed the way it went. Now, imagine my surprise when first of all I sit down to read it, only to find out that we're looking at criticism of what women are wearing rather than their talent and skills and contribution to the industry. NOH8 and gender equality you say, Ms Wynter? Well enlighten me as to how you, a woman promoting equality for women are objectifying them and ignoring all of their talent to become little more than a tabloid pile of horse shit. You remind me in this section of a blind and far-bitchier Perez Hilton. He has a touch more class though, sadly, as I have occasionally seen him praise acts for more than just what they chose to wear. Hell, he even criticises people for their music or acting prowess. And that's fine. For all we know from your analysis, this was a review of the catwalk at Paris fucking Fashion Week.

However, you didn't let your sexism end there did you? No, you most certainly did not. As someone already pointed out on Twitter, Ms Gender Equality herself only has eyes for what the women were wearing, and one gay guy. Wow, great going Honor! (By the way, is that name irony as well? Kudos if it is.) Sexism works both ways, and I'm sure if I made a blog stating "OMG did you see how skilled all the men at the Chaos Awards were?" there would be a thousand and one fucking Emeline Pankhursts of the 21st century waiting to castrate me without anaesthetic. Yet more trite nonsense and bullshit. And did you even watch the show? Or was your interest simply piqued by the bright colour of the red carpet alone? Here's a note for you; people won awards, other people played their damn hearts out. There were men AND women there. Tip for the future, at least place part of your focus on what's important. I know how media works though, and this reeks of another pointless and talentless columnist being paid off by desingers to big up their dresses and diss the opposition.

And now, let me get on to your Riley Hamilton review. First though, sorry, I must digress, the Vara Gallo review was decent. Do more of this. Anyway, back to my point; could you have been any more sexist, you absolute pleb? Gender equality is all about making sure people are valued for what they are worth and not just lowered to the level of being objectified, right? Yet you bring a gritty and funny drama down to nothing more than: "Finally, the sex scene everyone's been waiting for. Don't lie, you're only watching because you want to see Riley in as many sex scenes as they'll allow!" Am I? Am I really? NO! Yet more sexist and crass bullshit, that if it was uttered by a man, would be slaughtered. Imagine if I wrote a piece about the latest music video from Julia Volkova that said "I'll be honest, I just wanted to watch her tits." That would get destroyed, but here you are, fucking captain equality, admitting once again that skill, talent and artistic value can piss off out the window for all you care, because you are only bothered about seeing the actor's arse. I mean, bloody hell.

In short then, I think you should remove the old NOH8 banner from your picture, and just replace it with one that says "muchmuchmuchmuchH8andaloadofsexistnonsensetoo." Awful.

Honor: Seeing as this is my opinion and my own personal reviews and blogs, I don't see the point of your ranting. What does me being an advocate have to do with anything that I've written here? Nothing. If you read, I didn't review the Chaos Awards, I reviewed the fashion, like I said I was going to do a long time ago. Clearly, you just wanted to start a fight with me but that's fine, everyone's opinionated and will always have something to say :) I picked different people who stood out to me on both good and bad sides of fashion from, again, MY opinion. I'm not claiming to speak for the people or anything, no this is all what Honor thinks. My review for the show was just fine actually. You're the only one who chose to see it as some type of sexist matter when it wasn't, I was just reviewing an episode of a series. I'm in now way a sexist and you could write about what you want, who am I to judge? Just don't waste your time trying to bash me when you didn't have to even read what I said in the first place. If you were offended by something I said well too bad for you, have a wonderful day :)

This Week In Reviews

Julia Volkova - Haunted - Album
It's safe to say that the last few years have been dominated in Vampire propaganda, thanks to movies like Twilight and Underworld and in shows like The Vampire Diaries or True Blood. You couldn't walk down the street without hearing about Edward and Bella, Damon and Elena or my personal favorite, the Count on Sesame Street. Julia Volkova took advantage of this and through inspiration from one of my personal favorite vampire movies, Underworld, she created an album so riveting and twisted, you won't think twice before looking her way again, not that the sexy rocker doesn't already have oogling eyes on her all the time. This served as her second studio album, the first which achieved high success as her first time releasing a record solo, she proved she didn't need anyone else to make her insane, she was doing fine on her own. You know how I am with albums, always judging them when I first see them and so far Julia's score is a 10, let's see if she can maintain it.

UserPostedImage

'Haunted'
First track always has to make an impression, give me a reason to keep listening to this album, right? So throughout the entire album, we follow Carly, a young female who apparently has a lot of issues since, you know all females have issues, and it's the beginning of a story. The first note on the piano is a dreary one, really sets the tone for the entire song, with the mixture of piano and the solid drum beat, Julia's vocals are added and she bares a high tone of pitch as compared to her raspy, husky voice we're used to hearing. The drums seem to get more elaborate further into the song as she sings about being haunted by something or someone from her past. It's a beautiful melody and dark at the same time, a similar theme we'll hear in the rest of the album most likely. This will definitely make you want to keep listening and you can't hear the story and not finish it, that would be rude. The overall theme is fear; not being able to escape from something and it taunts you for the rest of your life. Doesn't that sound so delightful?
7/10

'Tonight I gave up'
Just like that, Julia switches it up on us with Tonight I gave up, a very rock inspired track that allows us to dig deeper into the tale of Carly. This is the moment when she finally gives in to Marico, aww. You can picture this just as it all takes place, this song in the background with its heavy drums and her husky voice come together to make a post-grunge inspired sound. There are strong and distorted guitar riffs entrancing the beat, with distorted violins also being heard. As she continues to sing, her rhythm gets slower and slower, almost like she is being drained right before our very...ears. Most of the song she sounds intolerant and lazy, as if she can't be bothered to continue singing but thankfully, she does. For all you song interpreters, the lyrics can pull the double meaning trick. You can either a). Interpret it as being meant to be about unable to deny something/someone or you can go with option 2). This being tempted to do something that you secretly wanted in the first place. Option c sounds sexier, she just wanted him all on her.
8/10

'The Bite featuring James Urie'
The first single from the album featuring the poster boy for rock music right now, James Urie. At first, I heard about this collaboration and I thought, 'No, this will never do'. Turns out, I was wrong, that's rare! This happens to be one of the stand out tracks on the album, progressing the story even further now of Carly, our newly vampire. This is when Carly first gets bitten and turns, yes finally, into what we've all been waiting for, the music is the soundtrack so picturing Carly all alone, getting bitten, waking up, no sparkling in the sun, and then all of a sudden, this single starts pounding into our minds. Let me take a minute to describe this beat, because it's fucking insane first of all. Second of all, it reminds me of something out of a horror movie which I love, love, love, and third of all? I couldn't begin to compare this song to any other on the radio right now. It's got this new wave/synthpop/gothic rock feel to it and then adds in some electronic and ambient sound effects, you would think there would be so much going on with the song but it feels original and orgasmic to the ears. Then let's talk about the sexy lyrics. All in favor who wouldn't object to being bitten by Marcio, please say aye, because I would not mind turning for him. They really leave nothing to the imagination in this song and I love it, she takes a risk and it became a hit. Suck on that you Pop do gooders! Lyrical theme of this song should not be hard to learn at all; Julia's very insane in the sheets.
10/10

'Damned'
Hands up if the movie Queen of the Damned has appeared in your mind at least once while playing this album and now because of this song title. I know I'm not the only one! So now we move 5 years into the future with Carly after being bitten. This industrial rock influenced beat makes me tingle all over because anyone who knows me, knows that me and Industrial music are like twins, we connect, and very few artists even get to incorporate this into their music. A bigger bonus is that this would so fit into the soundtrack of Queen of the Damned, just saying. Julia once again returns to her low, hypnotic-like vocals as the addicting beat is playing in the background. You can feel the confused state of mind that Carly is in now because she doesn't know what to believe in or who tot rust anymore. She almost feels forgotten and lost in the world now. This message is something people can relate to, not the whole vampire thing unless you really believe in that, but everyone has felt lost some point in their life. Julia is no stranger to these trance like vocals, really emphasizing the rock with the guitar riffs and electronic beat. Carly feels damned, as if she needs someone to bring her from that darkness and tell her that it's okay, a deeper meaning rather than just being a careless vampire. This is another stand out track on the album.
9/10

'Some things you cannot deny'
The title explains it all; there are some things you cannot deny and Carly cannot deny two things; she is in love with Joesph, woo woo, and she's a vampire, triple woo, so instead of whining about it, she actually embraces it. This is a hard rock track, simple and probably the most upbeat song in the whole album. It has a regular structure predictable on rock songs. The chorus of the song is the highlight of it, it becomes louder and harder but nothing compared to previous track on the album. She has an ironic tone to her voice as she proclaims her freedom of being a a strong, sexy vampire. She's an inspiration to the rest of us wannabe bloodsuckers. This was strategically placed as the fifth song because now we're halfway into it and it's a turning point. Volkova's known for her dark, depressing lyrics but now that she sings about some sort of comfort, she has to snatch it away and get back into her habitat of mystique. Maybe it was a little too laid back but it wasn't one of the better tracks on the album although it is still an amazing track.
7/10

'Looking for you'
Starting the next track on the album is a slowed down rock melody with Julia's crispy vocals. It is an alternative rock melody, thrashing guitars and oh-so smoky vocals. There are hooks, emotion, thought-provoking lyrics and they are all topped off with a monstrous chorus that brings plenty of teenaged angst to proceedings. The song starts off with an acoustic guitar riff start and it grows to a heavy rock chorus mixed with violins and Julia’s husky vocals, it comes back to a slow down melody when it comes to the second verse, but still is bigger than its start. It’s not a change on the album’s sounding style so far, the sound of guitars and Julia’s vocal intonation are still the same from previous songs in the album, but now she’s singing more dramatically and it almost could turn into a ballad because of its violins and slow tempo drums sequence. When she gets into the bridge, the beat is slowed down and her vocals are louder. The song talks of looking for something that is already there but not being able to see it anymore, perhaps a former lover? Friend? It ties in with the first track of her being haunted, really neat way to make the album flow nicely. This is probably the best slow tempo song on the album, based on beat alone.
9/10

'Killing me from inside'
Welcome to the world of ska, can you take my order?! I am LOVING this change up from dark to reggae feel, it's genius in my eyes. The song has an alternative pop rock structure with drums guitars and bass, also Julia’s vocals are clean and loud. There are also the additions of backing vocals and an emotional crying intonation on Julia’s vocals. The chorus of the song received influences of Ska and also additional percussion. It reminds you of a Latin lover you left back home in Mexico but he couldn't get over the border so you wept because your love was lost. But in this song, it's about Carly and her loosing Thomas and Joseph, it's like a mini soap opera! In the break down moment of the song there’s a Latin acoustic guitar melody. The beat then picks back up with Julia's pleading vocals as you're swaying to the beautiful song. The end of the song is marked by Julia’s emotional breakdown as she drives the melodies of the song with her vocals, sometimes singing lyrics other times just vocalizing. Another stand out track on the album because it's a break from the expected following the first few tracks.
8/10

'How much I hate you'
Talk about completely going down to 'Weepingville' and buying all the tissues there. The heaviest folk influence song in the album. This track drives us to Julia’s very first debut album, it has acoustic guitar, flutes, emotional vocals and an even more emotional lyric. The song is a slow tempo one with influences of folk music and alternative rock, it has a flute which is played in the end of the song and it comes just like a follow up to the depressed lyrics of the track. Julia's soft yet raspy voice stands out above the instruments because it sounds innocent and pure, really full of emotions. This is the point in the story where betrayal often sidetracks us. Carly loses love all over again, it's just not fair! She deserves to win in this battle of herself. Julia reaches high notes that send a shiver up your spine, if you turn the volume all the way up, proving she has the capacity that most don't count her for. The stand out instrument on this track? The flutes of course! I feel like I'm chilling in a Japanese garden after finding out I was cheated on, sipping on Green Tea and feeling relaxed that I slapped the bitch, but Julia pulls it all together with this song, one of my favorites and I would say the second best melancholy song on the album.
9/10

'What If...'
I'm sensing a pattern here, the ending of the story is really going to suck right? Everyone will probably be bawling by the end of this album, you really feel a sense of the characters and just how much hell Carly's been though to get to this point. The love of her life is dead yet she's still alive, hoping to reunite with him again. Titanic sank and you guys cried so you better be flooding in tears for this! It’s a piano ballad song with other acoustic instruments such as guitar and drums. The song is hardly different from the first lead single of Julia’s upcoming album and according to the set list of her album it comes at number 9, almost closing the album. Is this song about Julia and Katie Coyle because methinkso. I mean of course she was devastated by the break up, so it would make sense but for now, we'll just go with Carly on this one. She is almost at her breaking point, saddened and feeling lonely. Because of its fragility and simplicity, there’s no much to talk about the arrangements of the song then just that it is composed by piano, acoustic guitar and drums, Julia’s vocal’s range is very clear and thin, also its high at some points of the song and there’s a dramatic intonation on Julia’s singing style. This is a tear-jerker, don't say I didn't warn you!

'Suicide'
Sadly, it's the end of the album. Judging by the title, it's not going to end pretty. We saw Carly be a human, get bite, fall in love, feel betrayed, feel lonely, this chick went through a lot and so she is my hero! The last song in the album is the most intimate and introspective song of it. It has an acoustic guitar melody with some other strings instruments and percussion. Julia sounds tired and sad, she sings it quilt simply and as if she's worn out. It all came down to this moment right here. Carly has decided her fate in life and decides she can't live on further anymore, BOO, and commits suicide, that's NEVER the answer! You could have sparkled Carly, you could have sparkled. More to the point, I would say even though the lyrics are simple and relaxed, the message is quite universal, so I'm calling this my favorite song on the album. I can play this over and over and still fall in love with Julia's voice. It's so crisp and beautiful, yet haunting and lost. She loved and lost but in the end, Joseph was the one she could not live without.
10/10

So ends the tale of Carly and her crazy ways. If there was an award for best concept album that I stayed awake for and actually remember what each song was talking about, Julia would win. As far as sophomore albums go, I say this was better than her first, a huge improvement. There was a story and she executed it all the way through, taking no shortcuts. You felt the character's tears and love, you felt her happiness, you sometimes wanted to be her so it was the BEST love story I have heard on an album, even if they both ended up dead. It's like I always quote; "What's love without tragedy?" Overall, I say this album was magnificent and definitely going on my favorite albums of the year. Fuck you Pop monsters, Rock is back with another female tugging it's ropes!

SYNCO - Never Really Mattered - Single
UserPostedImage

Alright, so lately girls have been dominating the charts and the music industry but when it comes to groups, guys somehow come out on top. It shouldn't be a mystery really, I mean girls hate each other so why the hell would they want to split their money with each other? Nevertheless, SYNCO managed to slither their way in underneath the care of Weekend. Now, you can love them or hate them but they have been very successful with their careers, shining the lights away from their weird and sometimes overbearing personal lives, they have been on a rocket to the moon. Can SYNCO be the 'female Weekend?' I really pray they aren't. I don't believe in making a copy of a group into another group, so hopefully they can actually be different than other girl groups too. They recently released a new single by debuting it on the grandest stage of them all, Chaos Awards, where they showed off their inner Disney love and proceeded to pay a sort of homage to Alice In Wonderland. The song is really interesting in that it makes you feel a certain way. You think 'It's their third single, they must be doing something right, right?' Well, you might be wrong. Usually when a new kid on the block arrives in music, you think that if their debut single wasn't really impressive that they can improve but for some reason, SYNCO seems to be getting worse. Let's analyze the song. I admit, the beat is infectious and catchy, it makes you totally think of drinking tea, I don't know why, it just does. I don't fault them for that at all. Lyrically, the song is supposedly about not caring or getting over someone, that's all find and dandy, no problem there.

It's just the fact that there are like 8 different words in the song. We get it, it doesn't matter, you're not sorry, but maybe you could've expanded on what the hell you're even talking about? Not all Pop music has to be mindless lyrics with catchy beats, hell if Rihanna can do it, why can't you? And she's high half the time! Maybe you guys need some of that inspiration she's burning. So far, they have crushed my hopes and dreams with them for being different and not a female version of Weekend. I like the boys, and I don't really know the girls either but I think they should spend less time, mostly Layla, fan girling over their bosses and trying to write some meaningful music. It's a tough industry out there girls and if you want to have longevitity, you might want to look at some of the big wigs in music, not just 5 guys who just arrived on the scene not even 2 years ago. Again, the beat is fine, lyrics need improvement, not really a second-listen kind of song but it was a mediocre effort in a third single try.

Alex: I like you I said before Billy and Scott were probably my favorite judges back at the auditions mainly because they told me and us what we were doing wrong and where we needed to improve I don't like always getting good reviews because if we did we'd never know where to improve and all that so yeah and also I will admit NRM could've been a lot better but don't count us out just yet anyway thanks for reviewing the song and all oh just one more thing actually the comment about Layla fan girling shouldn't have really been made she really makes up for it she's probably one of the hardest workers in the group and we all work pretty hard anyway thanks again for reviewing the single

ooc: Great job again really enjoyed the read :)
