Bonjour...
As She walked down the street with the bustling cafe's and sun shining she felt like she didnt have a care in the world, she stopped and looked in a shop window 'Paris fashion lovely' she thought as she gazed longingly at the floral summer sleeveless dress in the window. As she stared the sun shined on her she felt the heat hit the back of legs and neck she caught a glimpse of herself in the window, there she stood in a crisp white blouse, a knee length black skirt with a name badge on saying 'Cherise'.
She'd took this walk every day since she arrived on Sunday evening, it was a nice walk lots of smiley happy faces, families enjoying meals, parents playing boules with their children, the cute elderly couple sat on the bench watching boats go by on the river eating an ice cream, always sat there same time every day, it felt a million miles away from her previous life that she'd suddenly left behind.
She'd gotten herself an apartment and a job within first day of being in Paris thanks to meeting a young french girl while travelling from London to Paris called Claudette, she didnt know what came over her but that Sunday her life changed and it was too much to take she just broke down and let it all out to poor Claudette who had been over for a weekend break and was returning home, Claudette comforted her bought her a glass of wine when arrived and had let her just talk then kindly offered her a room at her flat. Claudette didnt know who Cherise was which was refreshing, Cherise hadn't released anything in France so it was nice to be able to just be 'normal' a few people often looked twice but nothing was ever said, the joys of being a twin Cherise could say she was Celeste.
Claudette worked at a cafe bar near the Eiffel Tower, her old flat mate had worked there with her but had now left so this came at a perfect time for Cherise, she met the manager Monday and Claudette showed her the ropes and she started that night. Cherise loved it, just the being normal for a while, she didn't think of anything or anyone she had a laugh with customers and enjoyed herself for the first time in a while.
Cherise looked at her watch while the sun beamed down, she had hour and half til work, she had done the same routine all week and today was no different. She crossed the road and walked through the park, the scent of the flowers in bloom hitting her all smelling so fresh and sweet, she got to the end of the park and looked up, there was the Eiffel Tower her favourite place at the moment. She got to the lift entrance, where Pierre was waiting for her with a smile, Pierre was the lift operator most days he always let her queue jump if busy, he was attractive Cherise thought, tall, tanned and gorgeous blue eyes. She got in the lift and Pierre took her up to the highest level he could, she knew she had to take seperate lift to the top but as of yet she never gone right to the top.
Pierre had asked Cherise out on her second visit to the tower but she politely declined, another time another place she thought when he asked her, he was nice to her and they always had polite conversations on the way up. He started to learn her bits of french every visit and offered to take her sight seeing, she again declined, right now wasn't the best time but she would be ready one day.
Cherise left the lift as she smiled at Pierre "Merci" she said as he laughed, she laughed as well for what felt like the first time in a while. "Back in a bit" she said still smiling, he saluted her and winked as the doors shut. She could feel the light breeze blow her hair as she walked round to her favourite side of the tower and stood at the side looking out over the city, Cherise did this everyday it felt so calming so carefree up there for her. Cherise just stood there, wind in her hair, eyes shut in her own world own thoughts, this was the place she came to remember 'Angel' her old life and process things, It helped. Cherise had confided in Claudette about it all and she knew she came to the tower when she needed to, she often followed her and sat at the bottom and wait for her just incase, Cherise was thankful for that, she knew she'd be down there now, they both had the same shifts and loved working together, so Claudette often sat getting sunrays and eyeing up the men awaiting Cherise to walk to work with. It was a friendship she never felt she had back home but in Claudette she knew she could trust her.
As the time went by Cherise made way back to the lift, greeted by Pierre and his smile she went back down and walked out as Claudette looked up and walked over to her the pair linked arms and chatted as they made there way to work in the cafe bar across the street, Cherise smiled and laughed along with Claudette as she told her of the men she was spying on while waiting for her with nothing being mentioned about Cherise's pain inside.
