"Hey dude's and dudette's, I just wanna quickly let everyone know that we are 100% categorically not breaking up, not even in the slightest, I get to do all of these amazing things and better still I get to do it with my best friends, so there isn't even a slight chance that we are breaking up or fighting or anything like that. The truth is that we are taking a couple of months out from being 'a band', sure we could have took on another tour but we've toured like crazy this year and we wanna couple of months to relax and then we'll hit the studio towards the end of the year to create a new album. There will 100% be a follow-up album released in 2012. But for now we're gonna enjoy some time off for a month or two, during that time we'll probably do our own things, I'll still be hanging out with Justin, Nathan and Jason pretty regularly but we're gonna enjoy some time away from being 'Riot'. I dunno exactly what I'll be doing in our downtime yet but I can confirm that Jason is gonna be 'attempting' to record an E.P with a new band as a side-project and he'll be trying to get a couple of gigs with them, they're called Burning Insecurities! so check them out.
And one final thing, I've decided to join twitter, I know, I know, I'm pretty late to the party. Anyway you can now follow me [@TheGreatRedHope] we'll see how long that lasts, but that's all for now."

Ryan: I'm glad that Riot! and the Great Red Hope are still sticking together. I'm excited to see what's next in the wheel once you guys return. Also, I feel I deserve some credit or at least royalties in coining you as the "great red hope," hahah. I will make sure to follow you on Twitter though.

"The official premiere of our 4th single, Something Old, Something New will be available in seconds ... Like actually in seconds, not like when people say 'Oh, this is happening in seconds.' and your still waiting like 10 minutes later. So yup, check it out, that's all really ... Sooo, how's it going? Having a nice day so far? :)"

- We're not sleeping, we're just resting our eyes. :D > Justin got some serious beatings for taking this photo and Callum, you shouldn't encourage him.

"Hey everyone, so we've arrived in the UK this morning, well at 4:10am. We've since been to our hotel, made ourselves look pretty and now we're at a radio studio for an interview on Radio 1 with Scott Mills in like 5 minutes. So much for a break, but we are looking forward to performing a couple of shows in the UK, it's nice here. So basically just check out the interview on Radio 1, should be fun. Byeeeee."

Our next guests have been making a huge name for themselves recently, Riot! In The Boulevard are here with me in the studio. Welcome back to the UK.

Amy: Thanks, it’s good to be back it feels like it’s been too long
Jason: Yeah, I see the weather hasn’t changed.

Of course not, it never changes. So why are you back, I heard that your taking a little break for a while?

Justin: Yeah, that’s what I thought too but I guess we weren’t quite finished yet.
Amy: Well, we’ve got the final single from the album and we figured we’d come over here, play a couple of shows in London and kinda round of the year back where it started for us.
Nathan: Yeah, we really got the attention in the UK first and …
Amy: With the album sort of released and we’ve toured in support of it in the US, we thought it would be a pretty good idea to come back to the UK to sort of officially mark the end of this album cycle.

Well, we’re always happy to have you guys back in the UK. So what’s your plans for the rest of the year?

Justin: Hopefully we do get a month or two free to just rest and recuperate, we’ve got the greatest job in the world so I mean I can only speak for myself but I can’t wait to get things going again and start working on a new album, but that may be a bit premature I think at this stage.
Amy: Yeah, I think we’ll plan on taking a rest and when we feel ready to get things up and running again then we’ll do that but there isn’t like a real limit for us, we could hit the studio in 2 weeks and start working on a new album, we just don’t know but the plan is for us to take a little break from things and get back to normality for a little while, well as much normality as I can have. But Jason’s gonna be playing some shows with a new band while Riot! takes a break.

And any new material to talk about?

Nathan: Not from me, man!
Amy: Yeah, well I’m writing a lot so yeah that’s part of the job that I don’t take a break from, whenever I’m feeling something then I’ll start writing so yeah, there’s gonna be plenty of material to work with when we hit the studio again, we’ve got the basis to a few songs already, I dunno if we’ll use them but they’re there for us to work on if it feels right.
Justin: Yeah definitely, the process is interesting for us because it’s a complete unknown, we can go into the studio with a full album’s worth of material and end up using none of it, but we’ll see what happens.

Ok and can we expect the same from the next album, I know your not working on it yet but anything gonna be different?

Amy: Yeah I’d hope so.
Jason: Definitely, I think we’ve found our strengths but there’s also a lot that could be improved, I don’t believe in the word perfect, I think there’s always room for improvement.
Amy: Yeah exactly, I mean the success of our debut album has been amazing really, but yeah we wanna improve all of the time and keep things fresh, we don’t wanna bore people so you can expect more of the same but it will be different in some aspects.
Nathan: It’s kinda impossible to answer that really, we haven’t been working on a new album yet so we don’t know would be the obvious answer.

And Amy has been praised hugely for her songwriting, does that have an affect, the fact that she picks up a lot of the praise?

Jason: It’s definitely not a problem for me, I’m not gonna claim to be a strong songwriter, I mean we all collaborated on the work but the majority of lyrics did come from Amy and that’s because she is a great songwriter, I think people will try to create some sort of divide with us even though it’s not there.
Amy: They’re all my brothers and I think people focus on the fact that I’m a female lead singer, you know it is a team effort because without these guys then the songs wouldn’t come to life, I may write the majority of the lyrics but without the music it’s nothing and this is a fully collaborative effort, there’s no one person in charge.
Justin: Yeah, I mean you don’t really get to see what went on in the studio but the band is all of ours, it is a band and we make decisions together rather than one person being in charge, and like Amy said, we’re just like a family really.

Ok, well good luck with your concerts this week, 3 nights at the Hammersmith Apollo, all sold out. Thanks guys, it’s been great having you in the studio.

Riot! In The Boulevard - Hammersmith Apollo, London, UK

UserPostedImage

To say that Riot! In The Boulevard’s return to the UK marks a change in fortune’s for the teenage rock outfit would be a huge understatement, last time they were here they were supporting Fathers Of Fury and their debut single, Sweet Little Fantasy’s had just recently blown up but the band’s reputation has grown so much more since then, they’ve released their debut album a huge number #1 record and two subsequent singles, All The Non-Believers and Long Distance Conversations both rocketed to number #1 on the Top20 Airplay Charts.
But there return is a way of paying a final thank you to the UK fans that supported them at the beginning of the year, Riot! Recently finished a US tour and planned on taking a break but decided to return to the UK for 3 final London shows at the Hammersmith Apollo in a way to end their debut album’s cycle and then begin a new dawn for them, interest was quite high as tickets sold out very quickly.

The band arrived onstage at 8:05pm, only five minutes later than planned which was definitely appreciated by the audience as the venue erupted at the sight of band members Justin and Nathan Mullen and Jason Greenberg as they began the intro to Sweet Little Fantasy’s, as the music began the redheaded singer Amy Meyer ran onto the stage shouting, “LONDON, ARE YOU READY FOR A RIOT!” and the band powered through a highly energetic rendition of Sweet Little Fantasy’s.
Following the lively start of Fantasy’s the band then turned into the softer emotional band, as the music was slowly and thoughtful as were the lyrics to their next four songs, A Moment An Hour A Lifetime, The Echoes Of My Soul. Sin City Serenade and Dear Diary. The change of pace seemed to work as the crowd were swaying from side to side throughout but it seemed like different Riot! And following a 2 month US tour, they’re entitled to take a softer and more emotional approach which worked well tonight.

Justin switched to an acoustic guitar for the rest of the original set and Amy spent the next 5 songs mainly sat at a piano at the left side of the stage, she ran through a cover that the band have yet to perform live, the track, Boston by Augustana seemed to slot into Riot!’s set perfectly with it’s teenage heartbreak lyrics “You Don’t Know Me, You Don’t Even Care, Oh Yeah, You Said You Don’t Know Me, You Don’t Wear My Chains, Oh Yeah, You Said I Think I’ll Go To Boston, I Think I’ll Start A New Life, I Think I’ll Start It Over, Where No One Knows My Name.” which was quickly followed by a more well known cover, with the Kings Of Leon, Use Somebody. Which as you’d imagine went down pretty well.
But it was the huge emotionally charged original song, Daddy’s Prayer which took the biggest attention and the best moment of the evening as it almost brought the flame haired singer to tears with its lyrics, “Soon Daddy Will Be Tired And He’ll Close His Eyes, I’m So Scared And What If He Dies, I Dunno How To Do It, I Dunno How To Smile, He Says He’ll See Me In A Little While.”
Next up were relatively low key performances of their own, Mona Lisa Smile and a cover of U2’s Where The Streets Have No Name, both went down well but struggled to reach the heights of Daddy’s Prayer and the opener, Sweet Little Fantasy’s. The band left the stage after the U2 cover but with the crowd chanting for them to return for at least one more song, it was always likely that they’d return to the stage and that’s just what they did as they turned up the energy once more with All The Non-Believers and Something Old, Something New. Both of which got a huge reaction as Amy threw herself back and forth across the stage providing the most entertainment from the evening.

Setlist;
1. Sweet Little Fantasy’s
2. A Moment, An Hour, A Lifetime
3. The Echoes Of My Soul
4. Sin City Serenade
5. Dear Diary
6. Boston (Augustana Cover)
7. Use Somebody (Kings Of Leon Cover)
8. Daddy’s Prayer
9. Mona Lisa Smile
10. Where The Streets Have No Name (U2 Cover)

Encore;
11. All The Non-Believers
12. Something Old, Something New

"Hey guys, so it's been a pretty quiet week for me. We did a couple of shows in the UK that went down pretty well and we're back in Vegas and Our 4th single, Something Old, Something New went to number 1 on the Top20 Airplay Charts. I think that covers everything ... Hmmm ... Oh yeah! I GOT ENGAGED!!! ... To Callum Williams of course. How insane is that? Yeah an amazing week for me, one of the best. Thanks everyone for supporting the single."

Amy: Darn right they have :P I can't wait to get working on it, much more guitar heavy and darker lyrics, but we're not supposed to give too much away so I'm gonna stop talking now :)
