Its a simple game. A poster puts the song their listening, and the poster below rates it out of 10 and says why they like it, or dislike it. A Youtube link makes it easier. Ex below

Sunglasses At Night - Corey Hart

poster below...

9/10 Its a great song blah blah blah...

Okay I'll start

I'm game. Think the Now Playing Thread has really just turned into an exercise in post-boosting tbh.

Corey Heart - Sunglasses At Night

Oh wow. This couldn't sound more 80s if it tried. I'm going to guess it's from 1986. Wow, 86. Off by some margin there. As it goes into the chorus it totally makes me think of something else but I just cannot place what. *Something* of the heart sounds possible but damn, I haven't a clue. So this song. It's really not my sort of thing. I mean I can handle 80s synth pop now more than I could have 10 years ago but I'd never choose to listen to it. Well, I'd choose a few bands. The Cure for one. Plus Huey Lewis & the motherfucking News! Anyway, that synth sound is so very mid 80s. I'm struggling to think of much positive to say except "boy, it could have probably been worse."
2/10

And my turn. Now playing for me is

A Silver Mt. Zion - God Bless Our Dead Marines

I love this song, it's just really powerful & haunting. Efraim's voice isn't going to be for everyone but I find it really beautiful.

to be honest i really don't like the start of this song at all, Efraim's voice is i admit, not for me, but the actual musical arangments in this song build well and work very together.. I also find the song a bit too long, but this is just me.... Its different and i like that, but because its a little bit too different it turns me off. sorry..
5/10 some good some bad, but overall not a song i would listen to more than once every now and then at best (infact on my itunes, it says ive listened to it three times since i got the album ages ago).

right my turn methinks, sorry for no youtube link, but it dont work on this internet!
Cloud Cult - Blessings (invocation part 2)... enjoy
I hate it when people see me at the supermarket and they are like:
Hey, what are you doing here?
and im just like:
Oh you know, hunting elephants

10/10 PERFECT

I like it really like. It reminds me of life for some reason. The chaotic start, and the chants, drums, and hands claps, sound beautiful with the guitars, and the soft, yet haunting voice. But this sounds like something you will hear in a film, particularly an action film. And then it finishes off with some heavier guitars, this is my type of song.

Not familiar with it, but I like it. 7.5/10. Reminds me of something, but I can't quite put my finger on it...

Anyway, time for a modern classic (imo)...

8/10. Love Arcade Fire and that is undoubtably one of their stronger songs. Really love it and can't wait for their new record.

Love this song and band, got big things on the horizon.

I like it. Not expressly my mug of Typhoo, but it's quite good. The intro bit makes me think of a cartoon theme but it's good, and I like how they contrast the ambience with the mildly euphoric while still keeping it downbeat. 7.33679/10

People probably know this from the Heineken ad, but I love this woman's voice.

It's quite cool. Catchy, definitely, but a little grating after a while. Probably just not to my tastes. 7/10.

Here's Devin Townsend with possibly my favourite song ever. Just getting it out of the way.

No mate, you're doing it wrong. You rate the song of the last post in the thread (in this instance Childish Gambino - Outside). Give it a score outta ten, write a little something about it. Then you post a link to a song for the next person to review.

You missed the "write something about it" section but whatever, maybe you'll get it next time.

Nicki Minaj & Lil Wayne? Fucking hell. Lil Wayne is awful. Those lyrics are pretty much everything I hate in modern music to be brutally honest. Vapid, crass glamourisation of greed. That snare sound in the chorus when she talks about how her "shit bangs" (whatever the fuck that means), ugh, it's the worst snare since St Anger was released, & it's lazily sampled. Fuck man, this is terrible, I just don't get modern pop music and certainly not modern commercial hip-hop. That terrible chorus again. Lil Wayne back again being awful. I mean his lyrics are terrible, his voice is so fucking shit. The only thing this track is missing to represent everything awful with contemporary popular music is autotune abuse.
0/10

Must cleanse my aural pallette now. So here's a track from a woman who shows that not all females in hip-hop are fucking terrible, Lauryn Hill

Ratings are kind of arbitrary, but I'ma give that 4/5. Good old school beat, some tasteful brass. The thing with contemporary pop is how crassly they clash the various constituent genres. Here it's smooth and classy.

Anyway, suck on this.

7/10, has a nice seemingly, 'world-influenced' beat going on with it. Guitar and the backing instruments go well, but the beat gets repetitive after a while, I do however like the trumpet. The trumpet ringing in the song is awesome. The build-up at the end is magnificently done as well.

OK, now. I found this album a few moments ago. A choice song as well. Hits home it does.

Has a great vibe to it, the synths are really good too. I love her voice, and they have a lot of personality. Reminds me of a car ride to the beach for some reason. We need more girl bands, so here is another one
