REVIEW: Josh Williams - Terminal 5, New York, NY 15/03/2014

Playing to a crowd in a city that you've never been to is always an exciting and somewhat strange prospect, playing in a country that you've never been to, however, is something else.

A capacity crowd of 3,000 is still pouring in through the doors of the venue which is about a quater full as Josh Williams walks on stage for the very first time off home shores with the responsibility of putting the Mercury Tour off to the best possible start for Carmen Grant & the other acts playing tonight. He's accompanied by three members of his live band, as he picks up his acoustic guitar from the floor it's obvious that most of the people in the room have never heard of Josh, and although that fact had made him a nervous wreck on the inside, as he walked on stage he seemed, cool, clam & collected.
The crowd is greeted by a smile and simple "Hello!" before the appropriately titled "Wake Up" opens the set, instantly making pockets of people in the crowd move their feet, however it's still clear that he hasn't got the ever-growing crowds full attention.
UserPostedImage

Being an opening act on a tour in a country that Williams had never visited, let alone played, with only one EP under his belt, there were no songs that the Welshman was obliged to play due to popular demand, meaning that a well-balanced set of up-tempo, feel good songs which have the potential to be summer anthems played on the radio 6 or 7 times a day and captivating ballads which created a calming atmosphere in the room meant that the crowd were slowly but surely beginning to really pay attention to the promising new artist.

Maybe the crowd were all suckers for a British boy with a guitar, or they just all enjoyed half hour of new music, but the subtle crowd interaction both between and during songs left smiles all around as Williams and his band finish up the opening slot with 2012's "Tidal Wave" and walk off the stage which left a great atmosphere for the rest of the night, although it's the first date of what is going to be a long tour for the young artist, it's one which, you have to say, (given that the rest of the dates go half as well that they have tonight) will be a very successful one.

Rum & Coke Coming For Your TVs !
UserPostedImage

Lately , Rum & Coke have been taking the music industry by storm with their versatile talents , booming personalities and doppelganger looks and starting April , they are coming for your TV's ! As they wrap up promotion for their #1 album Epiphany with their second studio E.P Aftermath and embark on their first ever world tour , the dynamic duo doesn't seem to slow down at any cause . Already building up hype for their 3rd album with Coke's Gucci E.P , The Sweetest Thing , Rum & Coke are taking the "pre-promotion" for the project an extra mile as of today after announcing their new show Ignorant Art .

UserPostedImage
Posted by Rum via Instagram captioned : 'And when they try to tell y'all fine art doesn't come from the heart|I won't be listenin' , because my shit's considered ignorant art'

It's been a while since we've had a reality show from prominent artists in Hollywood who are still active and if anything , Rum & Coke are the perfect ones to get one . Like demonstrated in their music , unlike your typical hip hop artists , Rum & Coke has a layer of darkness to them which definitely keeps us intrigued in everything they do . It's like with every project , another layer of iniquity is revealed . Seeing how the pair are rarely ever heard about in the tabloids and they hardly ever do interviews , a chance to get an insight on their life would be ideal .

Just like everything else they do , Rum & Coke assured us it will be nothing like what we're used to seeing . With a name like Ignorant Art one could only begin to guess all that the duo plan on doing with the TV show . The two are already known for their magic with film , releasing videos like that of Failed Escape with little to no help and even creating the new TV series Consequences with manager/mother of Coke Anniken Dahl-Smith , which is planned to air on HBO this Spring . With only a 15 minute slot every Wednesday to air whatever they please , there's no doubt that this program will blow our minds .

Scott and Gia Rose-Hilton go Mormon, set to 'get a new wife'
Music's power couple have confirmed that they are broadening their horizons and are set to welcome a new member to their family.

Music's most powerful couple have confirmed to Culture Uncut today that they are set to welcome yet another new addition to their seemingly perpetually growing family, but things are set to be a whole lot different in the Rose-Hilton household from now on.

The pair, who already have three children and have been married for just shy of three years, revealed just last week that they were thinking about welcoming a new Rose-Hilton, and while many congratulated them on their expected new bundle of joy, the pair were actually hiding a much more explosive and divisive secret.

UserPostedImage
Gia has been looking decidedly happy ahead of the shock new announcement

Today, they told us that they have actually converted, and decided to welcome religion into their lives as a family. Scott and Gia said that they had been influenced into looking for answers to life's biggest questions after being repeatedly quizzed by their three year old adopted daughter Sophie, and they have now settled on the belief system that they say is 'perfect' for their needs.

"Gia and I decided after much deliberation and soul searching over the last few months that we would like to become members of the Mormon Church. It came after a lot of long discussions, meetings and wonderful visits with the leaders of the church in New York," Scott told us this morning.

"The church really shares the beliefs that we hold dear and we feel that as a family, it can only make us much stronger as a unit to have beliefs in our lives. We look forward to raising the girls and Logan as members of the church and feel like it will make all three of them wonderful people in the future. People might think we're crazy and shake their head, but we believe that it's something that can really enhance our lives. I've always wondered what it would be like to go door to door and be universally hated. Now that I've got so much time on my hands, I guess I can find out!"

So while Scientology has long been the playground of the rich and famous, could the shock conversion of two of music's most famous and glamorous spark a new craze? TMZ predicts that their influence is worth some 41 per cent, and predicted that it will only be a matter of time until we see a large swathe of other celebrities following in their footsteps.

That's not all though! Scott and Gia also revealed to Culture Uncut EXCLUSIVELY that their first major step in their new religion would be to get themselves a new wife. Polygamy is one of the cornerstones of the Mormon faith, particularly in the north of the United States, and with the wealth Scott and Gia can bring to the church, as well as the sort of exposure that Tom Cruise managed to give Scientology, it is perfectly feasible that they be permitted the tradition in the early days of their beliefs.

While Scott spoke of his delight to have found a religion that matched the family's life desires, though, Gia was quick to state that it was the polygamous opportunity that attracted her to the move - perhaps why she's been looking so happy of late!

The Studio 60 boss told Culture Uncut: "I've been longing to try girls for a long time, and with us both having such a high sexual appetite, this just makes sense. They always say don't knock it until you've tried it, and Scott seems to enjoy going down on me...so I sort of want to see what all the fuss is about!

"I'm actually really excited. We pledged not to do anything until it's all official, but I'm looking forward to getting to try the new adventure in bed. And with Scott's vasectomy, it's basically all no strings!"

UserPostedImage
A sign of things to come? Could either of these beauties be Scott and Gia's new wife?

It is expected that the couple will visit the Finnish town of Lifrapolo at some time in the next few weeks to seal the marriage with their third wheel, with their two daughters likely to play the roles of Gia's bridesmaid. Although the identity of their new wife has yet to be confirmed, could the omission of Gia's best friend Layla Raine as bridesmaid be seen as an indicator of her involvement?

Rumours are still in their early stage about who will be the new bride in this hastily made up marriage, but front runners also include the couple's babysitter, Ansley Bates, who has been single for a long time, and is said to have built up a fantastic relationship with the couple's children since she started working for them more than two years ago. Who could fit in better? Only time will tell as the two - or rather three - embark on a surprising new chapter in their lives.

Magie: Thats not that shocking Culture Uncut, I think both Gia and Scott are trying to find a spiritual balance for their lives and no matter what religion they choose as long as they're happy and always disseminating the good, it's not that shocking! I think that this world will only be a better place when we start to respect other people's beliefs and choices and by respect I mean stop the criticism! So I respect Scott and Gia's choice, after all it's their lives...

Erica: what a surprise. A male dominated religion saying its ok for a man to have multiple wives. But doesn't allow a woman to have multiple husbands....and lets not even go into Mormans views on same sex couples. I'm no prude. I've done the open relationship thing with great success. If you want to fuck other people, say so. Don't wrap it up in "spirituality". I call bs though. Gia doesn't strike me as the sharing sort.

Chris: You know what I can have sex will multiple women too it's called being single.

Ryan: I couldn't do this religion as whole is just a way to control people to do good and not do bad. Really what good comes from religion that wouldn't come on its own.

OOPS! We got done

So....thanks to every single person who wrote in over the last twenty-four hours to point out our rather naive stupidity. We got trolled, we admit it. Scott and Gia Rose-Hilton's exclusive with Culture Uncut was, rather obviously, an April Fools prank. And we fell for it. Hook line and sinker. Kudos to the vast vast majority of you, who did not. And congrats to the happy couple, who will be, for the time being at least, staying as just a couple. And not Mormons. Morons maybe, but not Mormons.

Kidd: I knew it was a prank all along, like a wife will happily share her husband in marriage, you know how hard it is to get your girlfriend to have a threesome with another girl, to get MARRY! Fat chance.

Chris: I want to be in that though, You can't tell me people don't get tired of waking up and seeing the same person over the years and feel like they missing out. having more is just a cool thing to do.

THINKING ABOUT GETTIN’ THE OLD GANG BACK TOGETHER, MR. CAULFIELD?!?!

UserPostedImage

“Always one to do things in his own way, own time, own pace and own leisure. Brandon Caulfield is not the easiest musician to follow and support, simply because everything is always so sparse. If there is an announcement, it is usually at very short notice and with very little time for fans to prepare themselves. Buzz is not something that he’s ever clearly been interested in, evident as recently as December, where the man himself unexpectedly released a brand new studio album titled ‘Some Roads Lead To Nowhere’, following its release, nothing has been heard, no singles and no tour announcements, not even the occasional drop-in performance at local bars which have happened in the past. Nope, none of that, instead he put out the record, allowed his fans (the ones that are still inexplicably sticking by their man) to consume the music and that’s all. He has spent the time since the release of the record, at home, being a father and a husband, an unlikely (and lets face it, if he were a popstar, this move would be considered suicidal) move. History suggests that the artists that support their releases more emphatically (i.e. tours, singles, videos, interviews) are the ones that are more successful, but this has bizarrely never been an issue with the man that holds five number one singles (currently four in a row), but we kinda feel like the whole thing is wearing a little thin now.

Don’t get us wrong, we understand that the man has a young family at home and it’s no doubt a balancing act, but put a little more effort in dude. You have some pretty weird die-hard fans out there that will travel the width and breadth of the globe in order to see you perform live, and you’ve been getting better at it dude. There’s a lot less awkwardness from you onstage, you don’t seem so uneasy with the bright lights and the crowds of people, nope, you’re actually growing nicely into a pretty kick-ass Rockstar/country-star/Americana-star/alternative-star/whatever-freaking-genre-you’re-calling-yourself-these-days-star. But you gotta start conforming to the normal rules of being a musician and actually do the promotional stuff. A big giant stadium tour, none of these little theatres or sporadical bar-room gigs, maybe a music video once in a while, hell, why not even work on a biography or something, that’s always a cash-cow, we would recommend a fragrance (Izzy could give you tips) but we think that wouldn’t be a great idea, it’d probably smell like gasoline and dirt. But just do something dude, do something!

Okay, so we have ranted! But he is actually doing something, finally! Yup, it appears that he’s gonna be heading out on the road after all. We hear that he’ll be doing a jaunt through the US from the end of April through to mid-June. Dates are reportedly close to being announced on his official website, but what’s more, it’s looking likely that he’ll be heading out on the road with a few ‘buddies’. His obligatory backing band, a cast of rag-tag musicians (Flynn McCarthy, Dylan O’Connor, Alexia Quinn, Sarah Jade Harrison, Carlton Vazquez, Tristan Holden and Joseph Dylan Kennedy) will be supporting him onstage, we’re hearing that iconic musician JR Rhythm (the dude from The Bards? We vaguely remember him) will be special guesting throughout the tour, and also a couple of ‘buddies’ will be heading out for the ride as support acts, (we’re thinking Johnny McDougall and somebody else, but we have no idea). But at least it’s some sort of comfort for those poor Caulfield fans, wonder if it’ll be worth the wait *high-pitched-voice* Unlikely!

Johnny: I can confirm that I will be going on this little tour. The need to get off my ass is overwhelming. I hope to stay on the whole stretch. I do enjoy playing with Brandon and our styles are pretty much kin to each other. Load up the truck!
