Just bought the new Dinosaur Jr album "Farm", and on a whim, I bought a five disc retrospective of composer Steve Reich whom I had barely even heard, and I put in Disc 2 and was genuinely moved almost to tears almost immediately by the opening of Different Trains. Haunted sampled voices over repeating string figures, with train funnels blowing steam. Pretty damned mind blowing.

New AIC album is shit :(

Tell you what though, new Michael Buble album is awesome ;)

Plus I don't really buy music any more, I Spotify it. Get with the times guys. But if anything, I guess Dizzee Rascals 'Tongue n Cheek' was the last one I bought. Which was pretty average by his standards.

If you don't already have it I cannot urge you strongly enough to check out the Jar Of Flies EP. Utterly stunning.

Strange album. Assuming you got the Ryko version, rather than finding a long out-of-print pressing of the original album, the drums and bass on the record were re-recorded in the 80s, which gives the album a frankly bizarre sound. I'd love to find the original, because I like the songs, but the 50s style do-wop does not work with 80s style drum and bass recordings.
