They are the strongest team left. I doubt Spain could have butchered Argentina the way they did. That been said, I'm going to encourage Uruguay now since they are the last latin american team left. |

And I reckon Ghana stand a decent chance of making the semis to be honest. Uruguay have a great frontline, but they are certainly beatable.
I think Uruguay will beat Ghana no doubt. They have amazing defense, formidable offense, and a decent midfield. Mmmmmm I am genuinely gutted that Ghana are out. SUCK IT. Sorry couldn't help it. I'm mad Brazil are out, ARGENTINA FTW Sorry, but Uruguay won because a cheat. Yeah, I'd do the same if I was Uruguayian, but still, the cheeky little prick. To be brutally honest, it wasn't cheating as much as it was serious foul play. It's the same scenario as when the last defender trips a forward through on goal...whilst you're guaranteed a red, you give your team a slight chance of not losing what wouldve been a certain goal... Surely breaking the rules IS cheating, lets not be pedantic ;) |

I like Uruguay a lot. Forlan is just epic. I did like Ghana though, and it would have been cool to see them get through. |

I do take Germany seriously now obviously, they destroyed my favorite team like they did to Australia.I think Germany can win, but I like Spain better. Uruguay is actually my favorite team active but I doubt they'll win, if they do I'll be happy. |

I'm afraid that if it's Netherlands - Germany in the finals that the Krauts'll win, but I've been wrong before, so we'll say.

I believe that I said the following repeatedly over the last few weeks.
#1 - Spain have extra gears, and can and will up their game to beat anyone put in front of them.
#2 - Get Torres out and play Pedro instead, it will make a huge difference.
I now bask in my smug-bastard correctness. Thank you, that is all |

Well wanted that to be the final for a good bit of carnage. Very disappointed it hasn't happened. Would be kinda odd if this generation of Dutch players did what the Totaalvoetbal era didn't manage and win the World Cup, but I'm rooting for them. But then to be fair pretty much every team I've wanted to win in the knock out stages has lost so that is a bad sign. |

If they happen to come up against teams who play 2 rows of 4 or 5 at the back to stop them breaking through, then thats not entirely their fault Nah, I can understand this complaint. Spain have no killer edge, and unlike say Argentina they are not an exciting side to watch. In fact I read a very well put together argument that Spain are currently utilising a system reminicent of the Catennacio system that Inter were famed for in the '60s, Tikenaccio. It is all about keeping possession, keeping possession and keeping possession, passing in triangles, excellent one touch football, fantastic technique, tiring the opposition out in the first hour of the game by making them chase your players while you have 60-70% of the possession. It is a proactive version of Catenaccio where rather than lock the opposing teams attackers out you keep them out of the game by simply not letting them get a sniff of the ball. It is a very smart system and they do it well, and I enjoy watching the technique required from almost all the players in the Spanish team to make it work, but it certainly doesn't lead to exciting games for the casual football fan who isn't so much into the tactical side of the game. |

After an hour of short passes on midfield, all of the other team's players are on their own field, and Spain hasn't even made a fucking shot yet. It does take skill and talent, but it is boring. |

Not when the opposition lines up like that it isnt...se Portugal, Paraguay, Germany...it's a frustrating thing to watch, but only because no one wants to play Spain. Which is fair enough because if anyone did try to come out and actually challenge them, then there would be a massacre of sorts. |
