NEW BAND SIGNED

DistortedAudio wrote:
Yeah we were talking around and around and around until we came full circle and signed with this label.

SHOOTING STAR RECORDS is now a label we're proud to be a part of. We really don't have any other news so yeah. Oh wait I think we might be doing a couple of small time shows for a pretty cheap price in a bit.

We on the behalf of Shooting Star Records would like to welcome GIFTSTAR to the label, they are offering us something new to the label and proves that Shooting Star Records is growing and the versatility is proven.

"Devoured" Gets Release Date, Track Titles Revealed, New Song Streaming!

Titan's debut single, Devoured By An Angry God, is set to release via Shooting Star Records on Monday, August 30th.

Following the band's trend of writing songs focused on Greek mythology, Devoured tells the story of the Titan Cronus, who eats his children upon birth in fear that one of them may one day grow to overthrow him. The album artwork and track titles are as follows:

UserPostedImage

The Prophecy (5:31 - Music And Lyrics by York, R. Craft)
Devoured (4:56 - Music And Lyrics by York, R. Craft)
Tearing The Tides (3:44 - Music And Lyrics by Titan)

Titan has also made the first song on the single, The Prophecy, available for streaming. Although the song has a single verse, which is sung near the beginning, the band considers it to be almost an instrumental, and said they may consider in a live setting playing it as so. The song can be heard on the music player below:

Quote:
The song begins with a cymbal crash, followed by a mid tempo, mellow bass line. As the bass continues, the cymbal crashes continue in sparse intervals, getting closer together with each consecutive strike. Eventually the crashes come one right after another, which is when the Craft brothers' guitars come into the song with a dark, bluesy dual lead riff.

The blues inspiration continues as Jake Craft breaks into a light, swift guitar interlude. The pseudo solo continues for another minute before Jake's low, Jerry Cantrell inspired vocals whisper the lone verse of the song.

"Prophecy chosen,
Betrayed by his own son,
Fighting threads of fate,
The sun and the ocean

Swallowing stones of deception
A tales inception
Hypocrisy's father
There is one exception"

The final word echos several times as a monstrous, sludgy riff kicks in. This crushing riff is followed by the rest of the band in the same fashion. The section is repeated several times more, before suddenly ending in silence.

After a half second, the silence is broken by a piercing solo by Ryan Craft. Fast, distorted, heavy, and metallic, Ryan's solo is clearly inspired by traditional metal bands of the past.

Ryan's shred fest is then interrupted by Jake, who proceeds with a more bluesy, melodic solo. Inspired by Black Sabbath, Neurosis, and Isis, this solo is less complicated than Ryan, but perhaps more soulful.

The two continue to trade off solos a few more times, before Ryan's final solo rings out, and the opening somber bass line returns to close out the last 30 seconds of the song.

I didn't think attempting suicide was a good thing... It usually equates with a person being at a low point in their life.

Usually when people are at low points in their lives and recover they don't like to talk about it. It's pretty strange that you brag about surviving a suicide attempt. That sounds pretty bad.

No one said you were usual, I'm just saying bragging about a Suicide Attempt is really having the opposite effect that I expect you're thinking it to have. Instead of inciting a "Oh man this guy is tough." response from me, I'm getting more of a "This guy needs some help." vibe. I mean you seem to be angry about this record deal between Mallory and Brittany but I think you just need sometime away from the music industry because Mallory seems to be a pretty nice person(haven't had a chance to meet Brittany in person yet but I would love to). She gave an up and coming band a record deal after she only heard three songs from us. I think you could be a pretty cool person too, just under different circumstances. You just need sometime to calm down and a little bit of positive support.

Well listen man, I can't speak for the rest of GIFTSTAR at the moment seeing how we're all a little busy at the moment but I can say that if you need positive support from me, you'll get it. All you had to do was ask for a little help.

Shooting Star Records Artist Interview #1

UserPostedImage

Hello Titan, nice to have you hear supporting your label Shooting Star Records.

> Its my pleasure. After everything this label has done for us, we are more than happy to show our support.

Very well, now I would like to get on with this short interview, just to give our fans something to tune into that would really keep them interested in you, as well as the label itself

How do you currently feel about Shooting Star Records and Malory Evans?

> We cant talk more highly of her. The woman is an absolute genius. She has her hand dipped into so many different projects, and all of them seem to turn to gold. She has definitely made a change in the industry for the better, in my opinion. As far as the label goes, I love it. They give us the resources we need to make awesome music, but at the same time they give us the creative freedom we feared we wouldnt get from a major label.

How did you feel when you were first signed and what happened after you were signed?

> We honestly couldnt believe it. We had sent our demo tape to about a dozen different labels, and they all told us they werent interested. Everything from small metal labels to multimillion dollar labels just brushed us off. But Malory apparently saw something in us. Thats what I like about her. She is willing to give people a chance. From first look, we arent as profitable as lets say, Brittany Knox. But we make strong, aggressive music, and I think a lot of people can connect with that. I think Malory knew that, and her gamble on us payed off. We've had a very strong start in our career, which I only hope can get better.

Anyway, after we got signed, we all quit our jobs. I was working as a waiter at Chilis at the time. We flew out to Connecticut to record our first single, and the rest is history.

How do you currently feel about All Around The World and the Top 4?

> It's a great idea to give some unknown talent recognition. As far as the top 4...I have to say I am a little disappointed with all the pop that is on the show. I'm not trying to knock any of these guys, but if it were up to me, I would like to see more rock/alternative type bands up there.

Who would you be most excited to see on Shooting Star Records after All Around The World?

> Book Of Love. I think those guys have a very unique sound, and stray from the path of the typical pop artist that I was just talking about. Even if they dont win, I would love to see them get signed by a label or enjoy some sort of success.

How is the recording of your album going? Got any names for the album? (For artists who are currently recording their first album or who are working on their next album)

> Yeah, we are actually planning on releasing our debut album, Suspended From The Frankincense Tree, on September 28th! Its a very complicated story, which I am not going to plague the readers with, but I am just gonna say, if you like progressive metal, and you like Greek Mythology, I would definitely check it out.

Who are your inspirations in the music business? Who do you like and dislike?

> Thats a tough one. Hmm...well I have to say one of my inspirations at the moment are Suburban Sunrise. Great band, not heavy or anything, but some damn good alternative rock. I admire them because they do what they want to do. A while back, they released a Blink 182 tribute album, which got them a lot of criticism. But they stuck to their guns, they stood behind their music, and when their latest album came out, the single off that album debuted number 3 on the radio charts. They got a lot of slack, but they refused to change who they were, and now they are one of the most popular bands around. You have to respect that.

I have an encyclopedia of bands that I think are brilliant, but a couple off of the top of my head: Infinite, Mind, Daniel, Glamazon, Hellspawn, Reported Failure, Michelle Green, Jack Frost, and The Bards are some that are on the brain at the moment.

What do you think of your current label mates on Shooting Star Records ?

> Speaking of sticking to your guns, another artist I really respect is Brittany Knox. Of course, she has a ton of fans, but a lot of people in the industry have been attacking her and saying these awful things about her. The papers, the radio stations, hell even other musicians are getting in on it. They are treating her like she is some kind of slut robot, manufactured to sell records. But she is still a girl, and regardless of what genre of music she makes - metal, rock, pop, blues, polka, whatever - she should be treated with some sort of respect. Im not saying that Titan and Brittany Knox are going to be going on tour anytime soon or anything like that, but we definitely have her back when it comes to this media bullshit.

I think Sally Stevenson is amazing as well. I gave her album a spin just the other day, and I loved it. To be honest I wasnt expecting to like it, because I had never really heard of Sally or any of her music. But it is definitely a contender for album of the year. That girl has talent!

And lastly, what can we expect in the future for Titan?

> Well after our album gets released, I believe we are scheduled to go on tour with Infinite, and we are in the process of scheduling a few tours for the rest of the year. And obviously releasing singles for the album, etc etc. So keep track of us on titanmusic.com! Thanks for having us.

Shooting Star Records Artist Interview #2

UserPostedImage

How do you currently feel about Shooting Star Records & Malory Evans?

Melissa:
Well, they've been nothing but supportive in our escapades and so on.

Elizabeth:
Melissa's right on Mallory's part, we haven't heard much from our labelmates though.

How did you feel when you were first signed?

Matthew:
When we were first signed we were ecstatic but also pretty nervous. People put faith in us and we were a little frightened that that faith wouldn't be reimbursed.

What happened after you were signed?

Melissa:
After we were signed we more or less got right started on the album, I was drafted onto the 4th Street Band for a small run before Jack Frost takes over. It was a great experience socially, musically and educationally.

How do you feel about All Around the World and the Top 4:

Samantha:
I think it's an ambitious project and I like it. All the bands there seem to have tried really hard to stay afloat, so it's gonna be a nice little battle.

Who would you be most excited to see on Shooting Star Records after All Around The World:

Matthew:
I'd like to see Book of Love but moreover because I'm friends with Pete, I met him in Ithaca during a small show. I'd like to see Miles in Minutes win though, so far they've only been trying to stay afloat, they've got nowhere to go but up.

How has your album/single gone?

Melissa:
We sold about 10,000+ worldwide. Arena band, that's terrible but we aren't an Arena band. As an Indie Experimental Rock "Project" that was wonderful. We're glad to be in the Top 200 of the USA.

Who are you inspirations in the music business?

Matthew:
I've got a Top 5 Guitarists list and they stand as my Inspirations:
1.)Lucy Tyrell of 4th Street Band
2.)Robert Williams of Verdict is Vengeance: Their lyrics may not be that good but I like their guitar work.
3.)Aaron Del Petro of Mind
4.)Jason Smith of Mind
5.)Ben of The Mind Game: Their Albums are pricey but the guitar work is great.

Melissa:
Eric Quillington and Matthew Norris more than anything. Eric's lyrics and Matthew's drumming has shaped me into who I am today.

Samantha:
Daniel James Stone.

Elizabeth:
I've always been a big fan of Jack Frost so his current state has been something that I've kept a close eye on.

What do you think of your current label mates?

Matthew:
I'll answer for the band as a whole.

Brittany Knox is a fun person to be around and she's the most vocal of the label. She's a little underrated if you ask us because we for one(or more than one) like our Pop Hymns.

Sally's a girl We have not heard much about. We know she has an album out but that's about it.

Jenny Hudson's music we(Matt and Samantha) enjoy. Haven't met her yet but we're up for it.

Titan is a band that we listen to avidly and it gives us inspiration at times. We're happy to be on the same label as them and would really love to collaborate with them.

Allura Silk & Snakebite, we know nothing about. We haven't heard any of their music or met them.

What can we expect in GiftStar's Future?

Melissa:
We have got a couple of things planned. The biggest thing is probably The Android Collective, it's going to be a group of musicians interested in creating a series of Concept Albums following a storyline. We're hoping to start it soon(PM me if interested).
