PRESENTING: ADA"Gott help the person who bought this CD. You are either the most hipster person on earth, or you looked at the front cover, saw a half naked redhead, and decided that it could not hurt to buy it. Well, either way, thank you for contributing money so I can continue to fuel my drug addiction. I am kidding. Maybe. Anyway, I am Ada von Wannemaker, and this is my first CD. I released it on December 13th independently, and it is my baby. Most of the songs were inspired by my friends, my family, or my husband. Oh, ja... My husband is Erich Hess. Yes, that Erich Hess. So we can all imagine what many of these songs are about... One time, Herr Hess and I had sex in an abandoned gas station. True story. Anyway, there are a lot of stories behind many of my songs. Many stories that many people do not know about. And many of the songs are in German. Sorry for those fans who cannot read German, but that is your loss. It is a beautiful, threatening language. I recommend all learn it-- Oh, one time Erich and I stole a truck from a couple of blind and deaf farmers when they were trying to sell us their corn. Ja. We are awful. I love him so much." TRACK LIST: 1. My Love (feat. Erich Hess) 2. Rise 3. All of Them 4. The Divorce 5. On the Duke of Winchester 6. The Day the Devil Came to Berlin 7. Dvorak 8. Berlin Bay 9. Mother 10. The Death of a First Love 11. To Erich Hess 12. Without Me 13. Onions 14. My Last Family Vacation Edited by user 03 January 2013 02:20:59(UTC)

TITLE: My Love (feat. Erich Hess) BY: Ada von Wannemaker and Erich Hess LENGTH: 3:13The song starts off with the sounds of people speaking in the background. The sound of Ada's guitar starts in a slow, slow, quiet melody as she sings in a drunken, dazed sort of voice:My love is like a powder keg My love is like a powder keg in the corner of an empty warehouse Somewhere just outside of town About to burn downErich Hess comes in, his voice practically echoing Ada's and he sings:My love is like a Cuban plane My love is like a Cuban plane flying from Havana Up the Florida coast to the 'Glades Soviet madeBoth Erich and Ada sing together, their voices harmonizing together perfectly as they sing:Our love is like the border between Greece and Albania Our love is like the border between Greece and Albania Trucks loaded down with weapons Crossing over every night Moon yellow and bright There is a shortage in the blood supply But there is no shortage of bloodAda sings the last two lines alone as the guitar starts to fade out.The way I feel about you, liebling, I cannot explain it You have got the best of my loveIn the silence, you hear somebody clapping. Ada's distant voice says, "Danke," and the song ends.SOUNDS LIKE:

TITLE: Rise BY: Ada von Wannemaker LENGTH: 3:51The song starts with silence, and then Ada whispering, "Eins, zwei... Eins, zwei, drei, vier," And then she begins singing in a very high pitched voice, strumming her guitar in a happy, up-beat tempo:Ich höre sie quietschen Ich sehe sie putzen Fans verteilen Ordentlich und sauberThe song slows down slightly as Ada sings, her voice back to her normal tone:Grab hold of the morning Head out to the porch Feel the wind stoppingHer voice gets faster...Feel the sun scorch I fear for my safety You can see it in my eyes In an hour so twoAda draws out "rise..."We will riseAda's voice returns to the fast pased tempo that it was at before.Dann eine scharfe Brise kickt up Ich umarme mich hartFor this single line, Ada's voice goes back to the high pitched tone that it was at before, and the song speeds up again to the faster tempo.Wie kommt es Pfauen im Vorgarten? The song remains at the same fast tempo, but Ada sings in her normal voice:Sun is all prickly On my neck When the helicopter passes We both hit the deck Hands grasping and gropingThe song goes back to the slower tempo, with Ada holding on to the end of "rise." The song fades out with Ada's guitar, and then the sound of Ada putting the guitar down on the ground.Seizing opportunity Right where it lies The sky will fall We will riseSOUNDS LIKE:

TITLE: All of Them BY: Ada von Wannemaker LENGTH: 3:06The song features piano, guitar, and drums all play a slower ballad sound, with a jazz undertone. Ada's voice is deep and sultry, almost with a seedy nightclub feel to it. There's a slight echo to her voice, as if she were singing in an abandoned building. This place with its old plantations These roads leading out to the sea This day full of promise and potential More clay pigeons for you and me All of them, all of them All of them, all of them All of them, all of them, all of them, all of them All lined up
How long will we ride this wave out? How long until someone caves under the pressure? My dreams are haunted by armies Armies of ghosts Faces too blurry to make out Numbers far too high to measure Your face, like a vision straight out of Donnie Brasco Late light drizzling through your hair Your eyes, twin calcanoes Bad ideas dancing around in there All of them, all of them All of them, all of them All of them, all of them, all of them, all of them All lined up

TITLE: The Divorce BY: Ada von Wannemaker LENGTH: 2:52The song has a very mellow feel to it, almost like The Carpenters. The song starts with just Ada and her guitar. It's a slow, melancholy beginning, with Ada's smooth voice sailing through it.Schauen Sie über den zerbrochenen Flaschen Vorbei an den verrottenden Holztreppen Auszumerzen den Wein-dark Honig-Center Nicht jeder kann wie Millionäre lebenAda continues to sing in the same slow fashion, but the guitar begins to pick up, playing a more faster paced and joyful melody while a drum joins in, matching the guitar in rhythm.Schauen Sie durch den Luft-dünne Wände Zerreißt die Dielen Streifen die Farbe Fahren Sie über jeden Zentimeter des Raumes Mit der Geduld eines Heiligen Schnappen Sie sich Ihre Hut zu bekommen Ihren Mantel Die Kellertür ist eine offene KehleThe drums fade out, and the guitar goes back to the same slow melody it had before. As Ada sings, there is an echoing effect to her voice, and the two lines seem to blend together.Look past the kitchen cabinets Go through the chest of drawersThe music suddenly stops, as well as the echoing voice. There's a split moment where it seems like the song is over, and then Ada begins to play again, the same slow rhythm that is the song.Scrutinize the casements Rip the varnish off the doors Dig up the laughing photographs They are here somewhere or other Take what you can carry But let me tell you, fatherThe guitar stays the same, but Ada whispers the last three lines, a very menacing sound to her voice.Still waters go stagnant Bodies bloat And the cellar door is an open throatThe guitar fades out, and Ada giggles before the song cuts.SOUNDS LIKE:

TITLE: On the Duke of Winchester BY: Ada von Wannemaker LENGTH: 2:44When the song starts, it is obvious that absolutely no editing went into the song at all. It's scratchy, hard to hear at times, and it is ocassionally obvious that Ada played the wrong chord on her guitar. The song has a very fast paced, happy, folk-country feel to it.I have got you You have got whatever is left of me to get Our conversations are like minefields No one has found a safe way through one yet You spend a lot of money You buy me white gold We raise up a little roof Against the coldThe guitar suddenly stops, and Ada sings the next four lines a cappela. On the Duke of Winchester Where at night, the stars blow like milk across the sky Where the high wires drop Where the fat crows flyThe guitar starts up again, but it's not as quick paced as it was before. Both her voice and the sound of the guitar sound hesitant, as if they were too scared to play any louder or faster. All night long, we giggle and scream Your brown eyes deeper than a dream I am not going to lose you Though we may never get married In this house like a Louisiana graveyard Where nothing stays buried On the Duke of Winchester Where the dead will walk again Put on their Sunday best And go with unsuspecting Christian men La la la la laThe guitar continues to play after Ada finishes singing, the melody continuing to remain hesitant, and then speeding up again into the original melody, and then finally returning to the hesitant melody, where it fades out completely.SOUNDS LIKE:

TITLE: The Day the Devil Came to Berlin BY: Ada von Wannemaker LENGTH: 3:26The song has a mostly folk-rock feel to it, using drums, guitar, and Ada's voice only. It's a fast-paced song, up-beat song. Ada's voice, however, seems far away, giving the song a touch darker feeling.Pech kommt aus Berlin Pech kommt aus Berlin Auf der Rückseite eines Lastkraftwagens Doing 90 bis der Autobahn Wir haben schlechte Träume in der Nacht rollt er in Wir haben schlechte Träume in der Nacht rollt er in Und wir versuchen, unsere sprits hohen Aber sie markieren und sie schwindenBoth the drums and the guitar seems to calm down, with Ada's voice being heard strongly over them, singing with a bit more passion than before.Als der Lastwagen zieht vor der Tür Im Lichte Frühlings-regen Und sie wie Welken Blüten durchhängen Lassen Sie die guten Zeiten rollen Durch diesen ersten paar verzweifelte StundenThe music seems to slow down even more, as if the song were about to end, and then, in a sudden burst of energy, it speeds up again, giving the whole song a sort of militaristic feeling, with the same beat being played over and over again.Ja, the drive drops his cargo at the curb The driver drops his cargo at the curb And the sun peeks in Like a killer through the curtain And when cloven hoof prints turn up in the garden Ja, when cloven hoof prints turn up in the garden We keep up the good fight We keep our spirits lightThe song slows down from the harsh beat it was playing, to the same original melody, her voice taking on a more sympathetic feeling to it.But they draw like flies And there's a stomach-churning shift In the way the land lies And they lean like towersThere's a small, instrumental break, where the guitar and the drums continue to play their happy melody, but the melody seems to become more and more calm until it's barely playing. Slowly, carefully, the music begins to speed up, becoming louder and louder, with Ada singing over it:On a hillside struggling to stand Through these first few desperate hours JaThe music comes to a haulting stop. The song ends.SOUNDS LIKE:

TITLE: Dvorak BY: Ada von Wannemaker LENGTH: 4:07The song starts off with Ada’s guitar plays a slow, sweet melody. She plays this few a few moments before she starts to sing, her voice coming in softly and melodically, as if she were just a distant memory.Clear sky over Berlin A warm wind Dvorak on the short wave Clear signal coming inAda stops playing the guitar and begins singing the chords of Dvorak’s Symphony No. 8 softly.La la la La la la la la la La la la La la la la la la laAda goes back to singing with the guitar, but her voice is much louder now, almost as if the sound of Dvorak has brought her back to life.Long vowels spill like liquid from your mouth I hang on every word you say An army of transistor radios on the bookshelf left on all day Let them play, ja, let them all play on and on and on Let them all play longer and louder and long after you are goneShe begins to sing Dvorak’s Symphony No. 8 again, her voice much stronger and more confident than it was the time before, again in a cappela.La la La la la la la la La la La la la la laAda’s voice is at full force now, with the guitar, as she sings the last few lines as if she were in some sort of mental anguish. The first “la la la la’s” of the Dvorak are played along with the guitar.Clear sky sheltering our fragile little house Listening to the radio all the time Your hand on meine forehead as though to check for a fever Ja, big plans in mind La la la laThe guitar is cut out, but Ada continues to sing the Symphony No. 8 without it.La la la la la La la la la La la la la la la La laAda’s voice begins to get quieter and quieter until at the last “la,” her voice is the same as it was when the song started.La la la la la la La laSOUNDS LIKE:

TITLE: Berlin Bay BY: Ada von Wannemaker LENGTH:3:23Ada speaks the first, second and third verses, no music at all, just speaking the words, her voice echoing, as if she were in an empty room, her accent come through very clear and loud. Her voice is very drunken, almost in a Patti Smith sort of style as she speaks.I could almost hear the rhythm section kick in as the sun began to blaze. I saw you walk across the plaza. Figured I would just play it like it lays… Ja, ja, ja... I think I am going to be really sick again. I think it is going to happen really soon. And I know I cannot afford another night here in this place, with its sixteen floor view of the ocean and the dunes. And it is going to be just you and me today, waiting for the other shoe to drop on the Berlin Bay. I can hear the roar of the crowd in the stadium a couple blocks away. It is the kind of thing that used to get me all worked up...A guitar is heard, first a slow rhythm, but starting to speed up into a very folk-like melody, her voice become less of a speaking voice and more melodical as she goes. But I do not want to talk about it now, okay? Okay. Okay.
I just want to get this whole thing over with. I do not want to deal with it anymore I hear the cogs all slipping at the same time And then I see you walk in through the door And it is going to be just you and me todayThe guitar comes to a sudden stop, and Ada speaks the last line.Waiting for the other shoe to drop on the Berlin Bay.SOUNDS LIKE:
