DRUNK

"I'm a drunken fool, and now I'm paying for it
Pain in the head, and that ain't my lover in my bed
Whoever invented aspirin, I'm truly grateful
You're making this all just a little less painful
This morning, all I see are empty bottles on the table
So close to being unfaithful, I'm forever shameful

Tonight, I'm getting drunk, gonna do something I'll forever regret
Tonight, I'm getting drunk, do something I'll never forget
So when you ask me in the morning what the fuck I was thinking
It didn't seem like such a bad idea back when I just kept on drinking
And tonight, I'm breaking the rules, gonna pull some crazy stunts
Tonight, all I'm ever gonna be is drunk, drunk, drunk"

...............

BIKINIS & MARTINIS

"Wearing designer, uh, smoking marijuana
Fill my skies with stars and stripes, so Americana
And I don't see the fuss, what's all the drama?
We filled our glasses up, drinking all summer
Then you carried me back, turned off all the li-igh-ights
Probably made too much sound during the lo-o-ong nights
Bottle of the finest at our bedside
And then you spun me round, took me on a ride

Yeah, you already... kno-o-o-o-ow
What I'm thinking, we've gotta... go-o-o-o-o
We've been taking things... slo-o-o-o-ow
Now we're full speed ahead, we're gonna... go-o-o-o-o

...............

RUNAWAY

"Bottle of whisky and an open road
We're looking to get the hell outta here ASAP
My hand in yours, adrenaline in the air
Let's just slip away tonight, forget about everyone else
Run wild for the night, foot on the pedal and we'll be outta sight
Don't ask when we'll be back, but just to let you know
My phone's off and I'm fading away for a little while
For now, I'm living under the sheets in a presidential suite

And even if we never find our way back home again
It's enough to just have you near
To imagine a time where you're not there
Oh baby, don't tell me, it's a life I fear
"

...............

GLUE & GLITTER

"When I'm asleep, I always look forward to waking up
As long as you're next to me, holding me tight
When we fight, I always look forward to the making up
Cause look at how we are when we stick together
Me and you, we sparkle like glue and glitter
After all this time together, and we're at our best
Now look at how we shine brighter than all the rest

Like glue and glitter, glue and glitter, glue and glitter
Look at how we sparkle like glue and glitter
Glue and glitter, glue and glitter, glue and glitter
Now look at how we sparkle like..."

...............

HANDS UP (SHOT THE SHERIFF)

"Don't show me mercy, I knew exactly what I was doing
When I got that gun out, I knew exactly who I was shooting
Aimed for the head, you've made me such a mess
After you told me it was nothing more, nothing less
Maybe I fell in love, you laughed once I confessed
Got it off my chest, maybe I turned out to be obsessed
Now what have I got to show for it all? I lick my lips to taste our final kiss
Staring over a bloody man on the floor, handcuffs around my wrists

Grab your clothes and just to try to walk out of that door
I'm about to be a criminal, I can't help it if you leave me wanting more
Bullet fires from the gun, and your life flashes before your eyes
Oh baby, you shoulda just told me pretty, pretty lies"

...............

DISTANCE

"The closer we become, the more it hurts
Whenever I'm alone, and it's impossible to see you
The only thing I can do is cling to your words
Looking out the window as if you're in my view
When I wake, I hope that you're gonna be there
Deep down, I know I'm a foolish dreamer
But it soothes me to imagine you here
And so I've gotta continue to be a believer
Before I run off the edge off my mind
Yeah, before I fall off the edge of my mind

Oh, I'm falling off the edge of my mind, I'm slipping
I'm going crazy, heart rate increasing, sweat dripping
A beautiful illusion in my sight to help me tonight
And for just this moment, it's all feeling so right"

...............

SOMEBODY LIKE ME

"And I do everything I can to bring you all the happiness
But sometimes everything just isn't enough
Studied my attractiveness, drowning in my unworthiness
Maybe you'll decide it's time when things grow tough
Cause it's not easy fighting through the battles
And sometimes it's easier just to give it all up
Sometimes you can be hurt so much and become so fragile
That you're just no longer able to cover it all up

Yeah, don't leave me out in the dark, out in the cold
Just think about how we could be, a real story to be told
But it's true, not everyone is meant to be together
Love will never be forever, feelings are just like the weather
January to December, do you want to be a member?"

...............

WE'LL BREAK TIME

"When you turn around, it's gonna be me you find
I'll be the road to guide you if you're blind
I'm the shadow behind you when you walk
Me and you, we'll break time
An open hand for you to take when you struggle
An open heart for you to clear all your troubles
And when it's a race against the clock
Together, we'll break time

Don't tell me that forever is impossible
Love makes us crazy, and maybe it's possible
That we can go the extra mile
And our time together will never expire"

...............

DANCE OFF THE TEARS

"Lost cause in the corner with a handful of pills
Sipping on a water bottle full of vodka
She's crying cause she doesn't like how reality feels
Intoxicated while she sways to the sounds of Nirvana
Oh, maybe the pressure's just too much to handle?
She wishes she was just that little bit stronger
Oh, she never wanted to end up as another example
Of those of those famous girls who just can't take it any longer

Her favourite albums lay by her side
Next to the alcohol and blonde hair dye
She likes to mask her true identity
Just to find her own idea of serenity
Lays there alone, fighting off her fears
Tells herself she'll dance off the tears
Music runs through her fragile little veins
Singing those songs to try and numb the pain
Hoping it'll all go away-ay-ay-ay"

...............

WAITING GAME

"I wish life was just a little more unpredictable
Everyone's just a little too cynicle
But I guess it's with good reason, people are bitches
And friends eventually turn into backstabbing snitches
It'll be a miracle, but we've all just gotta believe
That there's still something that this world can achieve
Look up at the stars, and ain't it a shame
We're still playing the waiting game, waiting game

We're all just playing the waiting game, waiting game
We're all just playing the waiting game, waiting game
We're all just playing the waiting game, waiting game
We're all just playing the waiting game, waiting game"

...............

Ryan: I must say, im loving all the drinking references on this album preview. It's like we're all turning into alcoholics! I know I had my worries beforehand about this album, I didn't feel like I would connect with it as much as Open Heart Surgery, plainly because of there will be more upbeat tracks. However these album previews have wiped that assumption from my mind, this has potential to better OHS! Really looking forward to this album dropping and in particular, 'Distance'. So much good albums dropping at the minute, I love it!

Genre: Dance-pop
Label: Chaos Records
Writers: Nadia Berry
Producers: Logan Wells, Nadia Berry

After the first two singles from the album comes "Drunk", one of the most upbeat and fun tracks on the album, and one that sounds most suitable for the radio. Nadia speaks the lyrics in a quirky, humorous tone to mock her own admitted embarrassing drunken behaviour that the lyrics revolve around. With a summery guitar-led beat that's one of the most mainstream sounding on the album, Nadia's comment about the first half of Hera being upbeat and catchy is definitely no lie. Her vocals glide perfectly over the chorus where she lets her powerful voice shine for the only time she sings in the song, contrasting well with the more laid back style of the rest of the song.

Nadia: "With the more indie influences that were brought in on the last album, I knew I was going to alienate a lot of my fan base, but I think a lot more of those fans will enjoy this song. It wasn't a conscious decision to make a pop song because I wanted those fans back on my side, it was just what I was feeling at the time, I felt that I needed to poke fun at myself a little bit, and what better way to do it than in a light hearted song like this? I don't take myself too seriously, and I can admit that me and alcohol just should not go together, it's an embarrassing sight and embarrassing things happen. I wrote this song in April, and it was one of the last tracks I wrote for the album. Those closest to me will know the reason behind this song, but it's all in good humour and shows that it's all in the past. It's a new mission of mine to cut down on alcohol, despite the many alcohol references on the album... I guess you could say it's my way of getting it out of my system."

SOUNDS SIMILAR TO:

"Drunk"

Eyes open, and there's my clothes on the floor
The last time something like this happened, I swore
That I'd never drink again and damn, it happened again
But last night, it didn't seem like such a bad idea then
A few glasses turned into a few bottles, I can't remember the rest
But the hangover this morning is really putting me to the test

I'm a drunken fool, and now I'm paying for it
Pain in the head, and that ain't my lover in my bed
Whoever invented aspirin, I'm truly grateful
You're making this all just a little less painful
This morning, all I see are empty bottles on the table
So close to being unfaithful, I'm forever shameful

Tonight, I'm getting drunk, gonna do something I'll forever regret
Tonight, I'm getting drunk, do something I'll never forget
So when you ask me in the morning what the fuck I was thinking
It didn't seem like such a bad idea back when I just kept on drinking
And tonight, I'm breaking the rules, gonna pull some crazy stunts
Tonight, all I'm ever gonna be is drunk, drunk, drunk

I'm ashamed, had to call you up, you didn't give me the blame
If I could, I would have gone back and poured it all down the drain
Cause this morning, I'm all undressed and I look a mess
And the two of us are embarrassed to death
Swore that I'd behave, but I just couldn't control it
And I'm a mess, I hold my hands up and admit
That I'm a lightweight who just can't handle it

Just for that one night, if only alcohol was banned
Cause now, I'd do anything but to have another drink in my hand
Just for that one night, if only alcohol never existed
Cause it just seemed to make everything twisted
People end up looking more attractive than they really are
So you walk away arm in arm with someone ugly from the bar
And when you're that intoxicated, so damn wasted
It's just better than anything you've ever tasted

Tonight, I'm getting drunk, gonna do something I'll forever regret
Tonight, I'm getting drunk, do something I'll never forget
So when you ask me in the morning what the fuck I was thinking
It didn't seem like such a bad idea then when I just kept on drinking
And tonight, I'm breaking the rules, gonna pull some crazy stunts
Tonight, all I'm ever gonna be is drunk, drunk, drunk

Genre: Electro-pop, reggae fusion
Label: Chaos Records
Writers: Nadia Berry
Producers: NTHN, Kia Simone, Nadia Berry

Continuing the cheerful first half of the record is "Bikinis & Martinis", most likely the one song that GirlSpice fans will enjoy the most out of the whole record as Nadia claims it's the most "upbeat and dancey". Loaded with catchy hooks and stuttered vocals, it definitely gives "Drunk" a run for its money for the most radio-friendly song on the album. Sonically, it's got a more European vibe to it, taking on a more electro-pop sound, blending in very light hints of dubstep and adding a slight reggae feel to it. It's likely to be the one to become your guilty pleasure from the album, and it's definitely the type of track you could imagine being played at a holiday resort by the pool.

Nadia: "I was scared about this song, as well as 'Drunk', because I feel like I built up a solid reputation with the last album; I didn't want people to think I had suddenly turned into a manufactured puppet who was forced to go back to pop and was no longer making credible music. I picked up a lot of new fans from the last album who probably won't enjoy these tracks as much, but the second half of the record will be more to their taste. I've had so much input for this album, and it's these more fun, carefree songs that I wanted to make to show where I'm at in my life. I wrote this just after coming home from Cabo, I just felt really calm and peaceful after an amazing holiday. I knew how I wanted it to sound from the moment I wrote it, thankfully, we managed to capture that in the end. It sounds just like the perfect summer anthem that I wanted, I wanted to listen to it and have it take me back to those amazing moments when I was on holiday, and we achieved that."

SOUNDS SIMILAR TO:

"Bikinis & Martinis"

We'll be singing woah, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
You got me singing woah, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

If only everyday were a day like this
Long days on the beach, getting martini flavoured kisses
Lipstick on your cheek, you play it cool
Laugh it off, acting like lovestruck fools
Your hand in mine, we intertwine
You give me that look, and I can tell
We're about to throw our halo's into hell
Key in the door, it's like we're racing against time
We're like two criminals running from a crime
And the risk of getting caught makes it so much more fun
Come, lean in closer under burning candlelight, I said come
And we'll be locked in our room from noon till night

Yeah, you already... kno-o-o-o-ow
What I'm thinking, we've gotta... go-o-o-o-o
We've been taking things... slo-o-o-o-ow
Now we're full speed ahead, we're gonna... go-o-o-o-o

What happened to the times that we spent under the covers?
Remember when we couldn't keep our hands off one another?
You in those shorts, and me in that bright bikini
I'm longing for the taste of those sweet martinis
And you've got me craving for an escape from today
Just for a little while, thinking of our getaway
You got me dreaming of bikinis and martinis
Yeah, you got me dreaming of bikinis and martinis

Wearing designer, uh, smoking marijuana
Fill my skies with stars and stripes, so Americana
And I don't see the fuss, what's all the drama?
We filled our glasses up, drinking all summer
Then you carried me back, turned off all the li-igh-ights

We've been taking things... slo-o-o-o-ow
Now we're full speed ahead, we're gonna... go-o-o-o-o

And you already... kno-o-o-o-ow
We're not gonna do this... slo-o-o-o-ow
Loved you from the st-a-a-art
You are the owner of my he-a-a-art

What happened to the times that we spent under the covers?
Remember when we couldn't keep our hands off one another?
You in those shorts, and me in that bright bikini
I'm longing for the taste of those sweet martinis
And you've got me craving for an escape from today
Just for a little while, thinking of our getaway
You got me dreaming of bikinis and martinis
Yeah, you got me dreaming of bikinis and martinis

With the cool breeze through my hair
I tell you to kiss me twice if you dare
Yeah, me and you, we are forever young
Just two lovebirds kissing under the sun
Ooh, just two lovebirds kissing under the sun

And we'll be singing woah, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
You got me singing woah, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
And we'll be singing woah, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
You got me singing woah, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

Isabel: I highly dislike you Nadia, you can never write a bad song :P Just kidding, I could never dislike you, it's impossible. I really love 'Bikinis & Martinis' but for some reason I'm more drawn to 'Drunk'. That must be an early signal for something lol. Actually, shockingly, I can relate to that song. Yes, little Barney Izzy has gotten drunk before and completely lost it which is why I love the fact that you can make a song like that and have fun with it. I think, if anything, this shows your ability to switch it up quite smoothly rather than changing into a puppet. If this album is gonna sound like these two songs, I'm definitely getting it, not that I wasn't gonna buy it anyway :)

OOC: Lol, not even joking when I tell you I used the same song for what Izzy's next single sounds like as you did for 'Drunk'.

Ryan: How are we a couple? Our music could not be more polar opposites, haha. Despite my love for alcohol, "Bikinis & Martinis" is my favorite out of the two. Perhaps to put it lightly, I envision you in bikinis while our holiday in Cabo earlier this year. It references alcohol, bikinis, sex, marijuana. It's just my type of pop jam! I can safety say next week, Nadia will destroy me on the album charts. And I'm not that mad about it. ;)

If this album is gonna sound like these two songs, I'm definitely getting it, not that I wasn't gonna buy it anyway :)

OOC: Lol, not even joking when I tell you I used the same song for what Izzy's next single sounds like as you did for 'Drunk'.

Nadia: Izzy? Drunk? I'm in shock! And there was me thinking all Barney kids walked around with a polished halo above them for the rest of their lives. I'm so happy you enjoyed both of the songs though, thanks for the kind words, sweetie! There's a bit of everything on this album really, but you'll definitely like the next few songs rather than the ones near the end.

Nadia: I have no clue, but you know what they say... opposites attract! I was surprised you preferred that one for a second, and then I realised the lyrical content of "Bikinis" and then I wasn't so surprised after all, ahaha. I miss Cabo a lot, so I had to have a song to take me back to those memories. You better be covering this on karaoke, mister! I really don't think I will, but I'm equally not mad if you destroy me. :p

Producers: Logan Wells, Nadia Berry

Track five on the record is "Runaway", arguably the most pop sounding song on the album. With a light and airy feel to it, Nadia keeps the mood high for the first half of Hera, the sound fitting perfectly to the lyrical content that deals with escaping from your stresses for a little while with the one you love. Featuring a sweet-sounding 80's inspired synth-led beat that glides smoothly throughout the song, the song further shows that Nadia is great at adapting to a variety of genres, whether it be rock/indie or a cute pop track like this one. Combined with Nadia's soft, gentle vocals, "Runaway" is a nice and relaxed track, but still with a little bit of kick to it that gives it an upbeat feel that you could dance to.

Nadia: "Aside from the two singles, 'Runaway' has to be my favourite on the first half of the record. Me and Logan were gathering ideas and it originally started off as this really stripped back acoustic guitar track, but I didn't feel like it captured the mood of the song well enough. A few days later, I had this sudden melody just come into my head and luckily enough, Logan totally got me and brought it to life and it turned into this amazing 80's throwback that I had in my head all along. And there's nothing greater than having ideas in your head come to life exactly as you had hoped. This is the ultimate escapism track, one of those songs to just take you far away from your troubles, and I hope people love the peaceful, upbeat vibe to it as much as I do."

"Runaway"

Bottle of whisky and an open road
We're looking to get the hell outta here ASAP
My hand in yours, adrenaline in the air
Let's just slip away tonight, forget about everyone else
Run wild for the night, foot on the pedal and we'll be outta sight
Don't ask when we'll be back, but just to let you know
My phone's off and I'm fading away for a little while
For now, I'm living under the sheets in a presidential suite

And even if we never find our way back home again
It's enough to just have you near
To imagine a time where you're not there
Oh baby, don't tell me, it's a life I fear

I just wanna runaway, getaway
Don't know where, we don't even care
Wind in my hair, feels like I'm walking on air
And I just wanna runaway, getaway
Leave everyone behind, your lips give me such a rush
We're driving blind, going wherever the road takes us
Let's just slip away forever, there's no one better
Than you, yeah, I could get lost forever with you

Take the wheel, this world is ours
Let's jump in your car and go wherever, whenever
Cause I wanna show you how much you mean to me
We don't even have to tell a soul, all I know is I'm ready to go
We've got cash to blow, we shoulda done this long ago
Just get lost with each other, we don't ever have to look back
As long as it's with you, it's a place that I can call home
Rooftop down, let's sing aloud, let our wild hearts roam

La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la

I just wanna runaway, getaway
Don't know where, we don't even care
Wind in my hair, feels like I'm walking on air
And I just wanna runaway, getaway
Leave everyone behind, your lips give me such a rush
We're driving blind, going wherever the road takes us
Let's just slip away forever, there's no one better
Than you, yeah, I could get lost forever with you

So take my hand, tonight, I'm gonna make you understand
That all I care about is running free, with you beside me
Let's live a little, let's runaway, getaway
And we'll wake up in a new place everyday
Ready to do it all over again

And even if we never find our way back home again
It's enough to just have you near
To imagine a time where you're not there
Oh baby, don't tell me, it's a life I fear

I just wanna runaway, getaway
Don't know where, we don't even care
Wind in my hair, feels like I'm walking on air
And I just wanna runaway, getaway
Leave everyone behind, your lips give me such a rush
We're driving blind, going wherever the road takes us
Let's just slip away forever, there's no one better

Genre: Electro-pop
Label: Chaos Records
Writers: Nadia Berry
Producers: John Rhodes, Nadia Berry

Following on from "Runaway" is "Glue & Glitter", the last track on the first half of the record before the mood starts to switch up and moves away from the summery, cheerful songs. Although sonically, it's got a slight electro-ballad feel to it that you'd expect from someone along the lines of Robyn. Having a hard-hitting beat behind Nadia's slightly whispered vocals for the verses, the song truly shines when it builds up to the chorus where her vocals become bold and confident. Despite the sound, the message of the song still remains uplifting and joyful, lyrically dealing with the troubles in a relationship and breaking through them to get where you are today. At number six on the track listing, the song takes a perfect place on the album to begin a gentle transition into the second half.

Nadia: "I like to call 'Runaway' and 'Glue & Glitter' the two candy-floss tracks on the album, because they're so sickly sweet in both sound and lyrics that they just pair together so well. That's the obvious reason why they come one after the other on the track listing. I think a lot of people in a relationship could relate to this one, because it's natural to hit walls in your relationship, but the important part is breaking those walls and moving past them to get to the point you're at now. It's got a sweet message behind it, about sticking together and continuing to outshine whatever hits you."

"Glue & Glitter"

It's never easy to find the one to stick by
And it's never easy to admit you've told a lie
Love's about overcoming every little challenge
And fighting through it all, no matter what happens

Everyone has highs, everyone has lows
And at the end of the day, you're my place to go
Run into arms of comfort and a place to find shelter
Lips like medicine that'll make me feel better
Everyone has ups, everyone has downs
And you're that someone that turns my life around
Sometimes things ain't perfect, but I know we're strong
Like true fighters, we battle and we carry on

When I'm asleep, I always look forward to waking up
As long as you're next to me, holding me tight
When we fight, I always look forward to the making up
Cause look at how we are when we stick together
Me and you, we sparkle like glue and glitter
After all this time together, and we're at our best
Now look at how we shine brighter than all the rest

Like glue and glitter, glue and glitter, glue and glitter
Look at how we sparkle like glue and glitter
Glue and glitter, glue and glitter, glue and glitter
Now look at how we sparkle like...

It's never easy to find the one to stick by
And it's never easy to admit you've told a lie
Love's about overcoming every little challenge
And fighting through it all, no matter what happens

When we're low, I always know
It's best to wait for the storm to pass
Because when we're not falling apart, you ignite a spark
From deep inside of me, that's just how our love grows
We fill up picture frames, our memories protected by glass
That could break so easily just like my heart, I'm like a spirit in the dark
Searching for an escape, searching for the light
Tell me you're the one who could find it in the night

Yeah, you're the only one who could shatter me into pieces
Watch me fade, and I'll be glitter no more
Yeah, you're the only one who could shatter me into pieces
Watch me fade, and I'll be glitter no more

When I'm asleep, I always look forward to waking up
As long as you're next to me, holding me tight
When we fight, I always look forward to the making up
Cause look at how we are when we stick together
Me and you, we sparkle like glue and glitter
After all this time together, and we're at our best
Now look at how we shine brighter than all the rest

Like glue and glitter, glue and glitter, glue and glitter
Look at how we sparkle like glue and glitter
Glue and glitter, glue and glitter, glue and glitter
Now look at how we sparkle like...

When we fuse as one, when I've got you so close
I could die happy there and then
When I kiss you once, I need to kiss you twice
You could easily become my habit
I could easily become an addict
Said you could easily become my habit
I could easily become an addict
I just want another dose of you tonight
Yeah, I just wanna overdose on you tonight

When I'm asleep, I always look forward to waking up
As long as you're next to me, holding me tight
When we fight, I always look forward to the making up
Cause look at how we are when we stick together
Me and you, we sparkle like glue and glitter
After all this time together, and we're at our best
Now look at how we shine brighter than all the rest

Ryan: Sadnandez does not like this. It is far too happy for his taste. Cutenandez though, thinks this extremely catchy music. Glue & Glitter is a very cute song, lyrically, and I like the slower tempo it begins to take the record in. I am most looking forward to the second half of the record. The first half all I can smell is, 'hit, hit, hit, hit, hit, hit.' I think I may need to hire Nadia to be my ghostwriter.

Jen: I really don't know how you do it Nadia. You're so gifted at writing fantastic songs back to back. It simply makes me wonder how anyone could ever dislike you with such talents as yours. Keep up the good work. :)

The video for "Records On" takes on a more simplistic feel compared to the videos taken from the Open Heart Surgery era. The video has a more raw and home-made feel to it, beginning with a vintage clip of a vinyl record being put on. Random low quality snippets of Nadia performing on stage follow, taken from her current tour with Katie Coyle. Other scenes featuring Nadia follow throughout the video, such as her talking to the camera, as well as her on set of a photo shoot, giving it a slight "day in the life of" feel. However, this contrasts with the vintage stock footage that is chopped up between these clips, taken from the original black and white version of the It's a Wonderful Life film, showing romantic scenes between the characters of George and Mary. Although the video is rather a collection of clips instead of the typical high-budget affair that you'd expect from her, there is some message to be read behind the short pieces of film scenes that are included. Showing the clip of Mary breaking a vinyl record near the end of the video maybe suggests that the song isn't as sweet as Nadia wants you to believe, the vinyl record smashing to the line of "tell me you love me at the end of this song". At the end, Nadia is seen with her dog Boots, simply laughing while the video fades to black.

Nadia: "This was probably the video I had the most hands-on approach towards, I came up with the concept and what I wanted to feature in the video, and I edited the whole thing. I think the great thing about a music video is that it can make you see a song in a completely different light, and I wanted to play around with that fact and make people wonder about why certain stuff was put in, and why certain stuff happened in sync with specific lines of the song. I think It's a Wonderful Life is one of those feel good, sweet films, and the clips taken from it suited the song perfectly. Aside from those clips were just random ones of me on tour and on set of a photo shoot and simple stuff like that, they're not completely relevant to the song, but I felt it made for a nice contrast to constantly switch it up from colour to black and white. And why not include myself in the video of my own song? I'm the editor! I know it's a huge difference to the cinematic feel of the videos from the last album, but I felt having a video like this just kept it more real and stayed true to the minimalistic feel of the song."

Genre: Alternative rock
Label: Chaos Records
Writers: Nadia Berry
Producers: Jared Nevo, Nadia Berry

Nadia reminds listeners of her past solo music on track seven on the album, "Hands Up (Shot the Sheriff)" which was produced by Jared Nevo of Hey Lolita fame. Dramatically switching up the sound of the heavy electro-pop tinged first half of the record, "Hands Up" sticks out like a sore thumb, but in all the right ways, stopping the album from possibly becoming boring, and it injects life when you were least expecting it. Nadia goes back to her more rockier roots heard on her earlier few solo albums with the track, and it shows she hasn't lost her touch with the alternative rock genre. Nadia has never sounded so American on the verses as she delivers them slightly-talking-slightly-singing in a fast paced manner, whether it's on purpose or not, it certainly gives the track a quirky feel to it. Intense drums begin before the insanely catchy chorus, and her vocals effortlessly soar over a huge razor sharp guitar riff that serves as the noisest moment on the album. Despite the more alternative rock throwback to her earlier material, the song still has that upbeat, slightly pop feel to it that you could expect to hear on the radio, and shows Nadia should maybe stick to this genre for her future material when it works so well for her.

Nadia: "I think there always needs to be a moment on an album where you can let your hair down a little and not care so much about explaining a certain meaning behind a song, and this is one of those tracks. I wrote this track one night and I knew it was a little out after I had finished it, especially compared to the rest of the lyrics on this album. Admittedly, I looked back at it and thought 'Wow, did I really write this? I'm one crazy bitch' because it was just totally unexpected, I don't even know why I wrote it! I guess I just felt a little rebellious one night. I called Jared Nevo up who was still on Chaos at that time, I signed Hey Lolita myself so we had definitely spoken before and I knew he was a talented producer, I asked if he'd be willing to work on me with it and he jumped at the chance, and thank god, because it turned out perfectly."

"Hands Up (Shot the Sheriff)"

Don't cry for me, I made a mistake
My heart's just too easy to break
I'm a little unhinged, a little off the edge
But I've got no excuse for why I shot him in the head
I guess I just can't learn to say goodbye
I wanted more and more, and how time flies
And how it slows in the worst possible times
Cause now I'll never see a day again out of this jail
Yeah, I was told justice will always prevail

Said he liked the smell of my perfume
And then we made love in the back of the room
Yeah, didn't seem like such a bad idea, back then
When he went to go and leave, back when
He kissed my lips for the final time
And that's when I committed a crime
We were bad, baby, we messed around
I got too attached and I throw my hands up, up, up
That's when I shot the sheriff down, down, down

Don't show me mercy, I knew exactly what I was doing

Oh baby, you shoulda just told me pretty, pretty lies

Said he liked the smell of my perfume
And then we made love in the back of the room
Yeah, didn't seem like such a bad idea, back then
When he went to go and leave, back when
He kissed my lips for the final time
And that's when I committed a crime
We were bad, baby, we messed around
I got too attached and I throw my hands up, up, up
That's when I shot the sheriff down, down, down

Told me I was all he ever wanted
(So why'd he go to leave?)
Now I'm left standing broken hearted
(Are you happy with what you achieved?)
Tears in my eyes, and he's about to die
It's what happens when you make a love sick girl cry

Grab your clothes and just to try to walk out of that door
I'm about to be a criminal, I can't help it if you leave me wanting more
Bullet fires from the gun, and your life flashes before your eyes
Oh baby, you shoulda just told me pretty, pretty lies

Said he liked the smell of my perfume

And that's when I shot the sheriff down, down, down
Yeah, that's right, I shot the sheriff down, down, down
