It's like a short story that I found really interesting.

NADIA BERRY: THE COLLECTION 06. "Beautifully Broken" Written by Nadia Berry. Peaked at #2 on the Digital Chart. "Beautifully Broken" sounds like the typical title for a dreary ballad, but in Nadia's case, she turns it into an uptempo pop-rock tune. With building synths and powerful electric guitar riffs throughout, it may just be one of the most infectious tracks on her Open Heart Surgery album. After the second chorus, the loud and in-your-face nature of the song dies down with a soft acoustic guitar ending for the outro, Nadia softly singing from "You placed your hand on my heart / And told me to keep on going", ending just when you expect another chorus to come along. With its bittersweet lyrics that tell the tale of a chaotic love story with drugs and one another, "Beautifully Broken" definitely leaves a lasting impression as the relationship comes to a sad ending. Nadia: "This is one of my favourite songs I've ever written, I think it's lyrically stunning. I like songs that tell a story, songs that can make you imagine a scenario in your head, and this really does that to me. I love writing about tragic, disastrous relationships, because there's so many ways you can put a spin on it, and it's also something many people can relate to in some way. So for that reason, I had to push for this to become a single, and thankfully, it did even better than I expected, so I'm grateful people seemed to love this song as much as I do, I think it's one of the most worthy on this collection release." "One of Those Days" is a mid-tempo blues-inspired track, opening with the sound of rain falling, before fading into the first line "Rain pouring down outside, we've got the curtains drawn", accompanied with playful blues guitar chords and a faint drum beat. Nadia's vocals sound sexy, her voice alone doing a good job on enticing the listener, as she describes the steamy morning routine between her and her lover. Building into the chorus where Nadia's vocals become louder and more powerful, she remains sounding passionate. The song later features a break that features a saxophone solo for around half a minute, before moving into the final chorus. Nadia: "This isn't the most innocent song out of my discography to say the least, but seeing as the influence of this song comes from Ryan, that makes a lot of sense. It's just meant to be a sexy, sensual song that was all about the passion and eagerness a couple have in a relationship, to the point of being slightly obsessed with one another that they don't care if they're late for work because they're so busy doing... other things. I've always wanted my own baby making song, I finally got one! Yay! Anyways, I remember each and every one of these singles. You're really a standout pop artist Nadia. I'll be sure to buy this greatest hits album and that will mark as the third album of yours that I purchased. :)

NADIA BERRY: THE COLLECTION 08. "We'll Break Time" Written by Nadia Berry. Peaked at #9 on the Digital Chart. "We'll Break Time" takes on a more indie rock sound in comparison to the majority of electronic/pop influenced songs on Hera, and marks a shift away from that as the album comes close to its end. However, it keeps the uplifting, feel good vibe to the record, and sounds like the perfect song to sing aloud to with the rooftop down on a sunny day. It's one of the songs on the album where Nadia sounds like she hasn't got a care in the world, singing along happily to a backing of a steady drum beat, bass and a church organ, before a wall of guitars swoop in for the catchy chorus. Nadia sounds playful and full of joy throughout, before everything drops out and she sweetly sings the outro. Nadia: "I'm a big fan of 'We'll Break Time', it's one of my favourites on Hera and just has a really positive, uplifting message to it of being able to overcome anything in a relationship. I love writing songs that people can relate to in some way, and I definitely think people will be able to relate to this one. My tastes are always changing when it comes to music, which is why I've got such a diverse discography, but I've always been a big fan of indie pop and indie rock, so this is where those influences come in. It's definitely a sound I'd like to explore more in the future." We're both very different writers, I'm more of a chorus kinda girl, but Katie's great at writing verses that really carry a song and tell a story, it's those type of lyrics that really grip a listener into a song. Whereas I feel like I've got an ear for a hit single, I know what's catchy and I know how to get a song stuck in your head, I know what works on the radio, so pairing mine and Katie's specialities in that way really made for a great song. I'm proud of what we came up with, and it holds a special place on this collection release." NADIA BERRY: THE COLLECTION 10. "Good Girls Don't Lie" Written by Nadia Berry. Peaked at #2 on the Digital Chart. "Good Girls Don't Lie" was the first buzz single lifted from Nadia's hugely successful Open Heart Surgery album. With nothing but an upbeat reggae-influenced acoustic guitar backing and soft piano chords which are only present during the chorus, "Good Girls Don't Lie" is a stripped back, playful and cheerful-sounding acoustic track. "I'm more suited to playing the devil's advocate" Nadia sings in a challenging, yet soft voice which remains throughout the track, letting her gentle vocals shine and take the main focus in the song. If there's any question that Nadia isn't worthy of being a solo singer away from GirlSpice, this song should be the one to wipe away your doubts from her vocals alone, singing in her impressive upper register throughout the chorus. Nadia: "I love 'Good Girls Don't Lie' because I think it sums up my personality and career really well. In the early GirlSpice days, I had a sweet, good girl image that I think was slowly tainted after years of people beginning to discover who I really was. Then it got to a point where I no longer cared of what people thought and just did what I wanted to do, and showed people the real me without having to always think about being a role model at the back of my head. Despite that, I still know that I'm in the public eye and I'm a role model to some, but I don't focus and obsess over that so much now, so I guess this song is my confession. It's a nice, laidback summery track with some pretty strong lyrics, and I really think I owe it to this song for building the hype it did for my Open Heart Surgery album." "Nothing Less Than Perfection" Written by Nadia Berry. Peaked at #14 on the Digital Chart. "Nothing Less Than Perfection" was released as the first official single from Open Heart Surgery, and despite under-performing in comparison to the previous two buzz singles, it remains a critic and fan favourite. Lyrically, the song deals with a man who doesn't feel that you're good enough for him, and just as the title states, he searches for nothing less than perfection, which he's unable to find. When he finds out about his lover's problems, he simply doesn't want to deal with them, as he'd rather find a girl who hasn't got any problems or troubles in life. For a song that lyrically, isn't the most happy of songs, "Nothing Less Than Perfection" is strangely quite euphoric and feel-good, in a sort-of Coldplay, "Charlie Brown" way. With both the infusion of electric and acoustic guitar, as well as a pounding back-beat of strong drums and soft croons from Nadia herself; it's shocking to think that Nadia has been making dance-pop songs for so long and then pops up with something like this. Nadia: "I love performing this one live, it's got a great energy to it and it always gets the crowd going, it's definitely one that the fans love. It's also one of the most personal songs I've ever written, I wrote it about an ex who was unable to deal with my own problems, he made me feel like I wasn't good enough for him, as if I didn't fit the perfect girlfriend role that he wanted. After a long time of battling my own issues and always feeling not good enough for people, I took the new found strength I had after being back on track with my life, and I wrote this song. I knew it wasn't going to do all that well in terms of charts because it wasn't as commercial as some of the other songs on the album, but I wanted to put out something I felt emotionally connected to, so I have no regrets with going ahead with this as the lead single." The drums remain consistent throughout the track, whilst light piano notes played by Nadia herself are heard in the background of the following chorus. Release date: 17th December Ending the collection release is the second of two brand new songs added onto the album, the other being lead hit single "Calling You Out". In comparison to that, "You Wanted War" is a relaxed acoustic guitar led track which Nadia plays herself, while her voice sounds powerful, a slight angry feel to it as she sings the lyrics. The song builds up slowly and guitar pace increases gradually, before the chorus hits with sudden, dramatic violins and a drum beat. Nadia gives one of her best vocal performances heard to date on the track, especially in the chorus where her voice soars over the music. 'Open Heart Surgery' is still very high on my list of all time favourite albums. This compilation album however really showcases your versatility and diversity as an artist. You've gone from being in a girl band to making these songs which is truly remarkable. It's a tough choice, but I think 'Beautifully Broken' may be my favourite track from you! OOC: Due to my mini hiatus from this site a month or two ago, this is the first im really seeing off this collection album. It has also reminded me of just how good all your lyrics are. Seriously, seriously good!
