Josh Meyer was alone in the back of a cab, reading a book and trying to ignore the incessant chatter of the driver who asked so many questions it almost seemed like he was offended by Josh reading. Eventually he sighs, abandoning his need and natural desire to be polite and pressing the button to block out the driver's chat. He looks back at his book and takes a deep breath. He wasn't sure where he was even going. This was the first free time he had had in over a year, and he was at a loose end, feeling like he had to do something or he'd end up totally bored, and worse, lonely.

As Josh gets lost in his book, he seems totally oblivious to the time passing. In truth, he had just got back from over a year abroad, and he just wanted to enjoy being back in England. After a while, the driver taps the glass. "Ere...where we stopping?" Josh jumps and laughs a little. "I'm sorry sir," he says in his polite American accent. He looks out the window to get his bearings and sees a very familiar building he had visited a few times before. "Shit..." he mutters. "You wot?" "Oh...ummm sorry. Here will do, thank you," Josh says in his typical nervous tone before jumping out of the taxi. He looks up at the building and one window in particular. "Wherefore art thou, sweet Juliet," he mutters to himself.

As Josh looks up at the window with the light on, he wonders if she even still lives there. He would look ridiculous if he rang her doorbell and she wasn't even here any more and Josh was always worried about looking stupid. He decides to call her instead, even if he did feel nervous. It had been a long time since he had seen her when they broke up for a second time and he missed Jade. He flips through his phone before seeing that he had deleted her number. He remembered that it had been too hard to keep her number in the months after they split. He did still have her on Facebook though. Josh laughs at how much of a teenager he seemed at that moment as he flipped through his friends list on the phone app. He clicks her name in messenger and feels instantly more nervous when he sees her green light on. He thinks hard for a while about what to send, before finally settling on the timeless "Hey". He hovers his hand over the send button, before taking a deep breath and pressing it.

Josh waited after sending the message. He felt stupid though. It had been so long since they talked, and there was no way Jade would even want to talk to him after he broke her heart when he left. He wished he never had gone though. She was the only girl he had ever really loved and he always regretted what he did. Especially after they had got a second chance at love. When his phone beeps, he expects a message telling him to piss off, so when he sees her message, he smiles a little. He thinks hard again for a moment, rubbing his hand through his stubble. "Just curiosity," he types. "Do you still live in London?"

Josh looks down at his phone when Jade replies. Was she pissed? He couldn't tell when it was only words on a screen. He dries his hands on his shirt since they were getting clammy with nerves. "Oh I just wondered. Because I'm standing outside lol." He smiled and then read his message, a little streak of panic surging through him. "*oh shit. I'm not a stalker. I was just in the area." He blushes even though there's no one else who could know how geeky he just made himself look. Suddenly it struck him though. What was he doing? Even if Jade was inside, there's no way a beautiful girl like that would still be single after all this time. She was probably in there with her boyfriend right now. He sighs and puts his phone back in his pocket as he looks up and down the road for a new cab.

When Jade invites him up, Josh gasps and drops his phone. He definitely didn't expect her to do that, in fact he had expected nothing more than pure rejection. He looks up again and thinks he sees a little flash of black hair at the window. His heart races as he wonders whether he should go up. Did she really want him to or was she being polite as Jade always was? Would there be a point? He didn't think she would ever want him, but he could at least be a friend to her, he guessed. He looks down at his phone and lifts it up. He uses the camera to check his reflection before walking inside and climbing the stairs, his heart thumping in his chest more with every step. "What are you doing Josh?" he asks himself as he arrives at the door. He scratches his arm and takes a long deep breath. He lifts his hand and quietly knocks on her door.

As he stands and waits for an answer at the door, Josh manages to compose himself and get ready to see her again at last. He can't help but to remember how beautiful she was and how much he missed her, but he manages to Think of something friendly to say that wouldn't make him seem desperate. That all goes out the window though when Jade blurts out that she missed him. His mouth falls open a little at her frank admission and he stares at her for a while too long as he racks his mind for a response. He panics and tries to speak eventually. "Your hair looks lovely," he blurts out, immediately cursing himself for saying something so dumb. He blushes and looks down at her again. She was exactly as perfect as he remembered from the past. "Hi...." he says softly as he rubs his arm nervously. "How are you?"

Josh smiles as he steps into the apartment. He may have been nervous but even just seeing Jade made him feel so much better About himself. She was the one person who made him feel wanted and comfortable. "Hey, you forget, it was your weirdness that made me like you in the first place," he smiles. When she says he looks amazing, he blushes. "Thank you. You look....Even more beautiful than I remember. Sorry...just trying to be honest," he says sheepishly as he looks at her with a little smile. It was impossible to hide how he really felt about her.

Josh smiles when she mentions tea. "Mmm yeah that's something I missed for sure. A real cup of English tea. And no one makes it quite like my Jade..." he freezes as soon as it slips out. "I mean...like Jade. I'm sorry I didn't mean to say that." He looks down at the floor as she talks from the kitchen, cursing himself yet again for his slip. "Ummm I just got back from Japan this morning. I thought I'd see a bit of London I guess. I do love this city and it's been a long time since I've been here."

Josh curses himself for what he had just said. Clearly his feelings for Jade were much stronger than he thought. "Well done Meyer. Two minutes in and you already look like a stalker AND a weirdo," he thinks as he sits down on the sofa, looking at her book. "Japan was...fun. Very odd though. I preferred Australia, truth told, but there wasn't enough work for me there so I had to move. Glad to be back though. It's so good to see you again."
